Louth athlete Lorcan Forde Dunne shines on European stage in scorching Skopje heat

The youngster represented Ireland at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Skopje, North Macedonia, where he had to cope with exceptionally hot conditions of 35 degrees. Nevertheless, he produced a superb performance when finishing eighth against some of Europe's top young athletes - a proud moment for Lorcan, his family and the club. Meanwhile, back home last week in Drogheda's Lourdes Stadium at the Louth U20 and Senior Championships, Ace AC's Adam Russell took on both the 200m and 400m events in the Senior Men's programme. His efforts were rewarded with a bronze medal in the 400m, a fantastic achievement at Louth senior level. Sean Daly also competed well in the Senior Men's 100m, continuing to show strong form. Jamie O'Reilly won the U20 1500m and placed third overall in the Senior race after a well timed and disciplined run. In the Women's 800m, Ace AC athletes dominated from start to finish after U18 athlete Sholah Lawrence won both the U20 title and the overall race, followed by U17 athlete Chloe Cooney in second and Ciara O'Connor - also only U18 - impressing in third, making it a clean sweep for the club. In the Men's 800m Adrian Black took bronze in the O45 category. Adrian has now medalled in this event three years in a row, testament to his consistency and dedication. Neil Culhane and Shea O'Donnell represented Ace AC in the 1500m at the National AAI Games last week and both athletes competed strongly, with Neil securing a podium finish in third place with a time of 3:59.68. Shea followed closely behind in fifth, crossing the line in 4:01.65 after a determined race. On Sunday in Tullamore, the National Senior Inter-County Championships brought success for a youthful Louth Senior Women's team, who secured a national bronze team medal. Ace AC athletes Daniela Adebola, Sholah Lawrence, Chloe Cooney and Eimear Cooney all played their part, competing across various events and representing the club with distinction.

Jaheim and Chloe's double medal joy for Drogheda's ACE AC at Leinster Championships

In the U18 boys 3000m, Lorcan ran 8:35 to win gold and beat a record that had stood since 1987. It was ACE AC's sixth individual medal of the weekend. U17 Chloe Cooney continued her impressive comeback from injury picking up two Leinster medals. She ran only her second ever 400m on Saturday and secured a Leinster Bronze before returning to the track 24 hours later for the 800m where she led early, dropped to fifth after 500m, but made a strong move in the final 200m to finish second and take silver. Not to be outdone, U17 Jaheim Humphrey also won two Leinster medals over the weekend, taking bronze in the U17 shot put and gold in the discuss. Daniella Adebola continued her impressive form and secured a bronze in the U19 200m after a strong PB performance despite the poor running conditions. U16 Kate O'Donnell also ran a new PB in the 1500m finishing nineth in a strong field while Sholah Lawernce was just outside the medals in the U18 1500m with a fourth place finish. In the boys' 1500m events, U18 Eoin O'Grainne finished sixth, while U17 Liam Lynch finished sixth and U14 Tayo Lawernce continued his improvements with a seventh place finish. U15 Louth 100m champion, Niamh Faulkner, ran well in the 100m, just missing out on the final while Aoife O'Connor was a strong fifth in the girls 80m hurdles. U15 Taylor Gregory ran in the boys U15 800m, and impressed with a sixth place finish. Tadgh Forde Dunne was eighth and Killian Sheridan sixth in the U17 boys 800m. ADVERTISEMENT Learn more The U18 Boys 800m saw four ACE AC athletes battle it out with Ruairí O'Grainne having the highest finish in fifth followed by his twin brother Eoin in seventh and then Rhys Clarke and Jamie O'Reilly. Meanwhile some ACE AC athletes took to the Mary Peters track in Belfast for the BMC event. In the 1500m Eimear Cooney ran a 4.25 PB. Only a couple of seconds outside of the European U20 standard. In the 3k Shea O'Donnell and Danny Nugent both ran well while Daniel Hanley and Neil Culhane also produced good performances in the 800m with Culhanne continuing his impressive return to form with a 1.52 season's best. pics attached are Chloe Cooney on the podium in 2nd, Danielle Adebola, and Rhys Clarke
