Rihanna Cuts a Sculptural Silhouette in Sky Blue Alaïa Gown Draping Her Baby Bump at Cannes

The rain may have clouded the skies over Cannes, but Rihanna arrived in a shade that suggested otherwise. Stepping onto the red carpet at the 'Highest 2 Lowest' premiere Monday night, the singer and entrepreneur wore a sky blue gown by Alaïa while walking beneath an umbrella held by A$AP Rocky, who stars in the Spike Lee-directed film. Her halter-style dress featured a twisted scarf neckline that draped across the chest and shoulders, while side cutouts — knotted on her left side — revealed her baby bump. She is expecting her third child with Rocky. Her accessories included high and fine jewelry by Boucheron, including diamond-encrusted earrings in butterfly and leaf motifs and multiple rings worn across both hands. Her hair was styled in a voluminous updo with a deep side bang, while her glam featured subtly smoky eyes and a nude lip lined in a darker shade. Rihanna has a penchant for surprising pregnancy reveals. On the first Monday in May, she caught fans off guard at the Met Gala when she debuted her baby bump in a custom Marc Jacobs ensemble. The look combined various patterns and textures, putting a twist on menswear with a cropped jacket and a pinstriped skirt that trailed the floor. She completed the outfit with custom color-blocked black and white brogue heels by Amina Muaddi. During the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show, viewers speculated whether she was revealing her second pregnancy while performing in a jumpsuit and puffer coat. Afterward, Rihanna confirmed the news, sharing that she had only discovered her pregnancy shortly before the performance. 'Here's the thing. I did what I had to do, right? My jumper couldn't zip up,' the Fenty Beauty founder told Access Hollywood at the time. 'No one knew I was pregnant. I just told my stylist, 'Make sure it's stretchy.' So the undergarment was stretchy and this [jacket] was baggy, but you know, the zip. It just stopped right there! So it had to be what it had to be.' 'Highest 2 Lowest,' directed by Spike Lee, is a modern reimagining of Akira Kurosawa's 1963 film 'High and Low.' Set in contemporary New York, the film stars Denzel Washington as a music executive entangled in a kidnapping case. Rocky appears as Yung Felon, an aspiring rapper connected to the central plot. Chopard's Universe Is an Enchanted Forest Filled With Fashion

CANNES, France — If Monday night's gala dinner is any indication, the universe of Chopard copresident and artistic director Caroline Scheufele is an enchanted forest. The jewelry house's Universal Gala, held in Cannes Monday night, showcased its latest red carpet collection as well as Caroline's Couture, Scheufele's fashion line. The theme was 'Caroline's Universe' and to set the scene, she created a dreamy forest complete with nymphs lazing in the trees. 'I'm so excited for her. I think it's really very brave of her. It takes a lot of guts to step out of your comfort zone, and I really applaud her for that,' she said of Scheufele's foray into fashion design. 'She's seen so many beautiful designs over the years, and so to be able to design clothes that you know will complement correctly your jewelry designs, it actually makes sense. Knowing with certain necklaces, you need a lower V, a lower cut or a higher cut, so your design just goes hand in hand,' she said. 'I'm really proud of her for doing that, because fashion is not easy and she's doing it, and she's really enjoying it, and she's doing it in her own way,' Kurková added. The model, dressed in Tony Ward, is a Cannes regular, and revels in the sheer craziness of it all. 'Cannes is definitely very special, and I'm glad to play dress-up. We get to wear amazing jewelry. We get to see fashion. We can be bold and big and glamorous and glitzy,' she said. The fashion collection featured gold beaded skirts, wide-neck embellished suits, and gowns with necklines suited for jewelry. The strongest pieces emphasized beading and embroidery, particularly a full-length gold skirt, a black column gown with delicate beading, and more classic gowns with dip-dyed hems in contrasting colors. Other guests included competition juror Halle Berry, who has been living it up this festival, Camera d'Or president Alba Rohrwacher, French influencer Lena Mahfouf, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Isabelle Huppert. The show featured Helena Christensen, Chanel Iman and Eva Herzigova. Petra Nemcova and Shanina Shaik, wearing a black-and-white gown from Sabina Bilenko, also mingled in the crowd. Scheufele complimented the bevy of supermodels. 'Everybody is beautiful tonight, actually you would be even without clothing,' she joked. She thanked the crew that had turned an airplane hangar into a lush green fantasy, calling them 'magicians behind the scenes.' She'd seen it two days ago when there were still planes inside. Scheufele also had all the food trucked in from Germany from her favorite chef to please the guests' palates. Philip Treacy constructed the headgear of Saturn ring-shaped hats and constellations of stars swirling halo-esque above the models' heads. Scheufele saved her biggest thanks for her Cavalier King Charles spaniel Byron, and added a note of concern. 'I think we need to take better care of our planet,' she said, highlighting the forest theme. Guests dined at two long tables that slithered through the length of the hangar, with the grass-covered runway the center of attention. Italian tenors entertained with opera in between courses, before everyone moved to a concert by Craig David and Ellie Goulding. Days after ditching a Gaurav Gupta outfit for Cannes red carpet appearance, Halle Berry wows in his creation: ‘Fashion has its own timing'

Halle Berry stole the spotlight at the Chopard Universe Gala at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in Gaurav Gupta couture — days after ditching his outfit for her red carpet appearance. Following speculation, the Hollywood actor finally embraced the designer's vision, dropping jaws in a corseted Bordeaux spiral gown from Jyotirgamaya, his Autumn-Winter '24 Couture collection. The strapless gown featured a structured corset bodice and the designer's signature sculptural draping — an architectural trail. The Cannes 2025 jury member styled the look with pointed stilettos and ruby drop earrings. The collection draws inspiration from the Sanskrit phrase 'a journey from darkness to light,' exploring emotional evolution through surreal silhouettes and cosmic energy. In an exclusive conversation, the ace designer told 'Fashion has its own timing. The energy around this look built up quietly and then landed with full impact. Halle wore it with such ease and command — it was a moment worth waiting for.' 'There was a lot of talk about whether Halle would wear our look. Seeing her finally bring this to life — and own it with such grace and power — made an even stronger impact. The right moment always finds you,' he added in a press release. On the eve of May 12, 2025, the Cannes Film Festival shared its official charter banning nudity, voluptuous gowns, and long trains. 'For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the Red Carpet, as well as in any other area of the Festival. Voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater are not permitted. The Festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit Red Carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules,' read the document. In light of the new dress code regulations, Halle Berry had previously spoken about her last-minute outfit change during the Cannes jury press conference: 'I had an amazing dress by [Gaurav] Gupta to wear tonight, and I cannot wear it because the train's too big.' Variety reported that she wasn't completely upset about it and decided to follow the new rules. 'I had to make a pivot. But the nudity part, I do think, is probably also a good rule,' the Academy Award winner had said, instead choosing a black-and-white striped Jacquemus halter-neck gown for her red carpet appearance. Following the series of events, Gupta told 'Our teams had been working closely with Halle Berry and her stylist to bring a special moment to life at Cannes. While the gown couldn't be worn due to updated regulations around long trains, we remain proud of the vision we created together. True couture doesn't always need a stage; sometimes, just the intention is enough to ignite the imagination.' This moment reaffirms Gaurav Gupta's growing global influence — a fusion of Indian craftsmanship, boundary-pushing design, and red-carpet storytelling.
