Memorial Day 2025: Events in, near Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Multiple Memorial Day events are planned in the Baton Rouge area. The federal holiday honoring fallen U.S. military members falls on Monday, May 26. Families can honor those who died in service by attending ceremonies and tribute concerts, touring historic sites, and more. Memorial Day travel expected to break 20-year record Here's what to know about when and where events are taking place this year. When: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20. Where: Blackwater United Methodist Church, 10000 Blackwater Road, Central. What: The community is invited to the church for a ceremony honoring those who gave their lives in service. When: May 23-25. Where: Pards North Park, 30372 Eden Church Road, Denham Springs. What: Enjoy three days of music at this Memorial Day weekend festival. 4th annual OPFOB Concert for the Heroes
RIDGELAND, S.C. (WSAV) — Hundreds of country music lovers came out for the 4th annual Operations Patriots FOB (OPFOB) Concert for the Heroes Saturday night in Ridgeland. The headliner was country music star Clay Walker. He was joined by special guests Chris Cagle, and local legend Chris Jones. OPFOB is located on a 268-acre recreational property in Ridgeland where they host veterans, active duty, first responders and their families. Their mission is to create and foster positive experiences for our local heroes by connecting through outdoor and recreational activities. They create an alliance through peer engagement in a comfortable and relaxed environment. These various forms of recreation, along with a newfound camaraderie, have been proven ways of helping deal with PTSD and other demons they may be facing from the scars of battle. OPFOB offers hunting, fishing, sporting clays, target range, trail riding and all of this is offered to these heroes and their families at no cost. On average, 22 veterans and active-duty military are lost to suicide every day: one every 65 minutes. More first responders are lost each year to suicide than in the line of duty. Exciting Local Events to Check Out This Weekend!
ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Three exciting events in Odessa this weekend invite people of all ages to join the fun! Odessa Arts First Friday begins at 5:00 p.m. this evening. In downtown Odessa, visitors can expect vendors, live entertainment and community involvement. The event ends at 9:00 p.m. The Rho Iota Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha is hosting a line dancing class. Zumba instructor Tiff Riley from Dallas will be teaching the latest dance trends. The class will be held at Reagan Elementary from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The entry fee is $25. Country music artist, Chris Cagle is set to perform at the Ector Theatre, Saturday night.
