Chrysler Finally Has Its Own Design Studio

Chrysler is turning 100 this year—a big deal for any company. To celebrate, the brand is making some major changes to its operations over the next few years in hopes of getting the storied American automaker back on track. Stellantis Design Chief Ralph Gilles told Road & Track : "We're back on with Chrysler ." Gilles notes that the company now has a new design studio—as opposed to its former studio, which it shared with Dodge —alongside a whole host of new employees dedicated specifically to the Chrysler brand. Chrysler Halcyon Concept Photo by: Chrysler "The product planners have a team, there's a marketing team now," he says. "We've built all the fixings to really look after the brand, and that's brought new energy…" Earlier this week, CEO Chris Feuell reiterated that the company would build a vehicle inspired by the Halcyon concept , which could reportedly take the place of the beloved 300 sedan. That concept could also inspire a new SUV, with both vehicles supporting fully electric and gas/hybrid powertrains. Gilles seconded that confirmation, noting that the company will draw heavily from the Halcyon concept for its future products. Specific elements like the active aerodynamics, glass roof, and more could make their way from the concept car to Chrysler's upcoming production vehicles. Photo by: Stellantis When asked if a new 300 sedan could happen, Gilles said: "There's been some talk about lower vehicles because they're more efficient." Fingers crossed. Next Chrysler 300 Could Return as a Striking New Sedan

Everybody is Worried About Chrysler, But Not the Boss Everybody seems to be concerned about the future of Chrysler. It's an iconic American automaker, but with only the Pacifica and Voyager still on sale, and with both of those starting to show some signs of aging, there's constant speculation about whether Chrysler is making the right choices. But according to the Detroit Free Press, brand CEO Chris Feuell is not bothered, and neither is her boss, recently appointed Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa. In fact, she seems altogether upbeat about the future – a future that may include a roadgoing version of the spectacular Halcyon concept. Previous Pause Next Unmute 0:00 / 0:09 Thinking about buying a Toyota RAV4? These 5 rivals might change your mind Watch More Chrysler Believes New Cars Will Turn Things Around 'The question about Chrysler's future and viability is one that seems to come up in various news articles on a weekly basis,' said Feuell. 'That has not come up once in my conversations with Antonio or others in the leadership team. I understand the curiosity regarding: Can a company [Stellantis] really sustain 14 brands? It's a lot of mouths to feed, and that is true, but for Chrysler, there is a belief in our positioning strategy.' She's aware that there's been a lack of investment in the brand, which might explain why a new Chrysler crossover is not coming in 2025 as first promised, but when it does arrive in 2027 (with a reveal likely sometime in 2026), it should be better-tailored to the demands of today's buyers. That brings us to the Halcyon. Source: Chrysler Other Cars Will Arrive Before The 300 Is Reimagined Feuell says that a vehicle 'inspired by' the Halcyon is part of Chrysler's grand plan, but since she didn't give a date, we ought to take this with a grain of salt. On the other hand, sales of the Kia K4 and other sedans have been making a comeback of late, so we can't write off the idea that Chrysler will reinvent the 300 for the modern age before the end of the decade, though a new name may come with the new look. Until then, all-electric plans have been scrapped, so Chrysler's upcoming crossover will have a hybrid powertrain with the ability to go electric. The Pacifica minivan is expected to get a refresh early next year, too, and this staggered approach may just be enough to give Chrysler the gusto to bring its beloved sedan back from the dead. Fingers crossed.

The Chrysler 300 Could Return. And It Might Look Like This

Remember the Chrysler Halcyon concept ? The futuristic four-door debuted last year and was loosely based on the production Dodge Charger EV. The concept was intended to preview the brand's 'future design language,' but it could now officially reach production as a replacement for one of Chrysler's most beloved cars. Speaking to the Detroit Free Press , Chrysler CEO Chris Feuell hinted at a production version of the Halcyon—or at least, something 'inspired by' said concept. More interestingly, the report notes that a production Halcyon could act as a sort of replacement for the 300 sedan, which ended production in 2023. Photo by: Stellantis "I believe the car segment is ripe for growth and resurgence," Feuell noted, saying that she has a "high level of confidence in [Chrysler's] road map and ability to launch these products." This coincides with reports from earlier in the year suggesting that the Halcyon would spawn a production car and SUV. Alongside those two new vehicles, the Pacifica will also undergo a thorough refresh for the 2026 model year. You can expect to see the updated minivan sometime later in 2025. If the Halcyon reaches production, it would likely use the same architecture as the Dodge Charger EV. The current Charger has a 400-volt electric architecture with a 100.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack yielding up to 670 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. The most powerful Scat Pack gets 260 miles of range on a single charge, while the base R/T gets 317 miles between charges. There's still plenty we don't know about the Chrysler Halcyon—like when the production version could show up. Our best guess is sometime closer to 2027. But, expect to have more details before the end of the year. 75 Source: Stellantis More Features America's Beautiful, Forgotten Hypercars Every Three-Row SUV You Can Buy in 2025 Get the best news, reviews, columns, and more delivered straight to your inbox, daily. back Sign up For more information, read our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use . Chrysler has chosen three vehicles to display at the NYIAS to showcase where the brand started, where it is today and where it's heading in the future: 1924 Chrysler Six: The Chrysler Six on exhibit in New York represents a full-circle moment in automotive history – on loan from the Stellantis automotive archive, it's the very same vehicle that founder Walter P. Chrysler brought to New York City for the 1924 National Automobile Show. The original Chrysler brand vehicle, the Chrysler Six, was a light, powerful vehicle equipped with a groundbreaking L-head six-cylinder engine and four-wheel hydraulic brakes — an uncommon feature in the 1920s. The 1924 price tag of $1,565 included tubular front axles, full pressure lubrication, aluminum pistons, replaceable oil and air filters, shock absorbers and indirect interior lighting. 2025 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid: Chrysler created the minivan segment, and more than 40 years and 15 million minivans later the brand continues to be a leader in the segment and help families come together on their journeys with the Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid, which revolutionized the minivan segment when introduced for the 2017 model year. Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid is still the first and only plug-in hybrid in the segment. Pacifica is the most-awarded minivan ever and offers segment-exclusive features, including Stow 'n Go, the innovative seating and storage system that allows second- and third-row seats to stow into the floor. Chrysler is celebrating 20 years of the feature in 2025 with a special Stow 'n Go Challenge at NYIAS. Chrysler Halcyon Concept: Unveiled in 2024 and making its first appearance at the NYIAS, the Chrysler Halcyon Concept represents a future design theme and direction for Chrysler that embodies the brand's vision of Harmony in Motion. Crafted with stunningly modern, sustainable design and seamlessly integrated technology, the Halcyon Concept stands out with a pure, streamlined exterior design statement that balances aerodynamic and sculptural elements, and an immersive interior with nearly 360-degree range of view, creating a cockpit that is stress-free with autonomous features. Select design elements and features of the Halcyon Concept, such as the advanced Head-up Display and SmartCockpit, are features and experiences that may be offered in future Chrysler products. 100 Years, 10 Key Innovations Chrysler has a century of industry innovations and iconic vehicles.
