The Chrysler 300 Could Return. And It Might Look Like This

Remember the
Chrysler Halcyon concept
? The futuristic four-door debuted last year and was loosely based on the production Dodge Charger EV. The concept was intended to preview the brand's 'future design language,' but it could now officially reach production as a replacement for one of Chrysler's most beloved cars.
Speaking to the
Detroit Free Press
, Chrysler CEO Chris Feuell hinted at a production version of the Halcyon—or at least, something 'inspired by' said concept. More interestingly, the report notes that a production Halcyon could act as a sort of replacement for the 300 sedan, which ended production in 2023.

"I believe the car segment is ripe for growth and resurgence," Feuell noted, saying that she has a "high level of confidence in [Chrysler's] road map and ability to launch these products."
This coincides with reports from
earlier in the year
suggesting that the Halcyon would spawn a production car and SUV. Alongside those two new vehicles, the Pacifica will also undergo a thorough refresh for the 2026 model year. You can expect to see the updated minivan sometime later in 2025.
If the Halcyon reaches production, it would likely use the same architecture as the Dodge Charger EV. The current Charger has a 400-volt electric architecture with a 100.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack yielding up to 670 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. The most powerful Scat Pack gets 260 miles of range on a single charge, while the base R/T gets 317 miles between charges.
There's still plenty we don't know about the Chrysler Halcyon—like when the production version could show up. Our best guess is sometime closer to 2027. But, expect to have more details before the end of the year.

Ford recalls nearly half a million 2016-17 Explorers due to door trim that can detach while driving

WASHINGTON — Ford is recalling nearly half a million older Explorer models because part of the door trim can detach while driving and cause a dangerous road hazard, U.S. auto safety regulators said Wednesday. A notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the recall covers 492,145 Ford Explorers, model years 2016-2017. The vehicles were produced between June 11, 2015 and April 19, 2017. Ford Motor Co. first recognized the problem as far back as 2019, but did not consider it an 'unreasonable risk to safety,' the NHTSA report said. In March of this year, the NHTSA shared with Ford dozens of vehicle owner reports of the problem, leading Ford to further investigate it, eventually leading to the recall. Ford concluded that lack of proper adhesion was causing the trim to loosen, adding that it is unaware of accidents or injuries related to the defect. The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker expects to start sending notification letters to owners on June 9. When a remedy to fix the faulty part has been determined, owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicles into a Ford or Lincoln dealership to have the trim fixed at no cost. The NHTSA recall number is 25V347 . The manufacturer's recall number is 25S53.
