Millionaire Hot Seat will see 18 episodes in a fast-paced version of the classic quiz show. It will be presented by former Top Gear star Clarkson, who has fronted the show since 2018 after replacing former host Chris Tarrant. Millionaire Hot Seat has aired in Australia since 2009 and had 15 high-rating series. What are the rules of Millionaire Hot Seat? The format of the show sees six players compete against the clock and one another as they answer questions in a bid to win big money. Contestants queue for the hot seat, where one person at a time will face Clarkson. They then have to answer questions on the Million Pound Money Ladder. What does he do to hit the MEGA jackpot?#9MillionaireHotSeat | TODAY 5.00pm — Millionaire Hot Seat (@9HotSeat_) January 31, 2017 Only correct answers allow the players to climb up the ladder and a wrong answer will kick them out of the game and decrease the top prize. However, if a participant passes, they remain in the game and go to the back of the line for the hot seat, but they aren't promised another turn. The passed question is then given to the next player who must answer it correctly to stay. Who is Jeremy Clarkson? In another twist, only the top prize left on the ladder can be won and the player taking on the question has to get it right to take it home. Katie Rawcliffe, director of entertainment & daytime commissioning at ITV, said: 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has reached 18 million viewers on ITV so far this year alone. 'Commissioning a new spin off format to further capitalise on the brand's success and popularity was a no brainer, especially with Millionaire Hot Seat already doing so well in other territories also.' Recommended reading: Matthew Worthy, co-CEO of Stellify Media, said: 'It is an honour to produce Millionaire for ITV. 'Millionaire Hot Seat is the main show's cheeky younger sibling, and gives us more Jeremy, enjoying more money-ladder moments, but with a whole new tone, pace, and feel.' Millionaire Hot Seat is set to hit UK screens in 2026, with filming to get underway this November.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? undergoes major revamp as bosses reveal 'twist'
ITV's staple gameshow Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? will return next year, but bosses have also commissioned a spin-off with a big twist in-store for viewers Hit gameshow Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? will return to screens next year - but bosses have promised a twist. The ITV1 staple, which was initially hosted by Chris Tarrant during its initial run, has been fronted by Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson since it was revived in 2018 and has gone on to become one of the most successful gameshows in the world in its near 30-year history. However, the next series of the hit show will mark the UK debut of the franchise spin-off Millionaire Hot Seat, which has already been part of its format in Australia for more than 2,500 episodes. The format requires players to think tactically and answer under pressure as they compete against the clock – and each other. During the segment, contestants sit in a queue whilst only the person in the Hot Seat can face Jeremy and answer questions on the Million Pound Money Ladder. To stay in the game, a player must continuously answer questions correctly, or pass and face being sent to the back of the queue, but an incorrect answer will send them out entirely. Only the top prize can be won, and the player must answer it correctly in order to win the cash prize. Whilst the classic version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire airs in hour-long episodes, its spin-off promises something of a snappier format, with 18 half-hour editions having been commissioned. Katie Rawcliffe, Director of Entertainment & Daytime Commissioning ITV said: ' Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has reached 18 million viewers on ITV so far this year alone. ' Commissioning a new spin-off format to further capitalise on the brand's success and popularity was a no brainer, especially with Millionaire Hot Seat already doing so well in other territories also.' The move, facilitated by Stellify Media, the Sony Pictures Television joint venture, will also be accompanied by 19 episodes of the series in its regular format, seven of which will be celebrity specials. Filming for the spin-off is expected to commence in November, and it is expected to air at some point in 2026, and the Clarkson's Farm star will be at the helm of both. Matthew Worthy, Co-CEO Stellify Media, said: 'It is an honour to produce Millionaire for ITV. Millionaire Hot Seat is the main show's cheeky younger sibling, and gives us more Jeremy, enjoying more money-ladder moments - but with a whole new tone, pace, and feel." Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? made its debut in 1998, and has so far seen six contestants win the top prize of £1 million, including former Eggheads star Judith Keppel. The series even inspired a TV drama, called Quiz, which looked at the events surrounding fraudulent contestant Charles Ingram. The drama aired in 2020 with Michael Sheen as Chris Tarrant and Matthew Mcfayden as the army major.

Jeremy Clarkson lands high-pressure Who Wants To Be A Millionaire spin-off plus new series of ITV hit AND celeb specials
JEREMY Clarkson has landed a new high pressure Who Wants To Be a Millionaire spin-off. Millionaire Hot Seat contestants have to think tactically and answer under pressure while playing against the clock - and each other. 4 4 4 Filming for the spin-off is set to launch in November this year, for a 2026 launch. A TV insider said: "This is a massive show of support for Jeremy from ITV who want to keep him with the channel because they recognise the fact he's still one of telly's biggest stars. "Execs see him as having made Millionaire very much his own show, moving it on from its early years under Chris Tarrant. "Commissioning a new spin-off for him is very much an indication of that too. "The fact that they will have three different variations of the format airing, indicates that ITV want to carry it on way into the future, and they want Jeremy at the helm of the flagship show." Viewers are also set for new episodes of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire - as well as seven celebrity specials. It follows Millionaire Hot Seat's success in Australia, with over 2,500 episodes aired to date. The format sees contestants sit in a queue around the show's eponymous Hot Seat. However, only one can face Jeremy and therefore answer questions on the Million Pound Money Ladder. Players who answer correctly climb the ladder - but if they are incorrect, they are out and the prize drops. Musician wiped out on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire after using two lifelines on tough Spice Girls question - but would you know it? Although "passing" on a question means contestants stay in the game, they return to the back of the line. But it's a tricky situation as they may not get another shot - with the passed question going to the next person. Ultimately, only the top prize remaining on the ladder is able to be won - and the contestant tackling that question must answer correctly. Katie Rawcliffe, Director of Entertainment & Daytime Commissioning ITV said: 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has reached 18 million viewers on ITV so far this year alone. Who has won the jackpot on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Who Wants to Be a Millionaire has offered hundreds of hopeful contestants the chance to become millionaires, but there has only been a handful of lucky winners. There have only been five real winners so far on the show as Charles Ingram, who was the third winner of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? in 2001, had his claim to the prize thrown out because of cheating allegations. The official winners are... Judith Keppel In 2000, garden designer Judith Keppel made quiz show history as she became the first ever winner of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Judith is also the only woman ever to have won the million-pound prize. David Edwards Former physics teacher David became the second contestant to win the top prize in April 2001. Following his success, Edwards went on to compete in both series of Are You an Egghead? in 2008 and 2009. Robert Brydges Oxford-educated banker Robert became the third Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? champion when he won the quiz show several moths after David in 2001. Robert has stayed out of the limelight since his win. Pat Gibson World champion Irish quiz player Pat won the show in 2004. Amazingly Pat had TWO of his lifelines still available for his final question, something no other winner has managed. Ingram Wilcox Ingram came close to losing on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2006 as he had used all his lifelines up at the £32,000 mark, but in a shocking twist he went on to scoop the jackpot. "Commissioning a new spin off format to further capitalise on the brand's success and popularity was a no brainer, especially with Millionaire Hot Seat already doing so well in other territories also.' Matthew Worthy, Co-CEO Stellify Media, said: 'It is an honour to produce Millionaire for ITV. "Millionaire Hot Seat is the main show's cheeky younger sibling, and gives us more Jeremy, enjoying more money-ladder moments - but with a whole new tone, pace, and feel. Who Wants to be a Millionaire airs on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player. 4

Chris Tarrant admits 'I just couldn't stand it' as he addresses retirement
Chris Tarrant explained his decision to step away from the world of showbiz after 52 years during Tuesday's instalment of Good Morning Britain. At the end of last year, broadcaster Chris Tarrant announced his retirement from television following an impressive 52-year career on-air. His television debut came in 1972 as a newsreader for ATV Today. Yet most viewers will recognise Chris from his lengthy stint hosting the gameshow Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Chris fronted the beloved programme for 16 years, launching with its first episode in 1998 before choosing to depart in 2014. During Tuesday's edition of Good Morning Britain, the 78-year-old chatted with hosts Charlotte Hawkins and Richard Madeley regarding his choice to withdraw from the entertainment industry. Charlotte enquired: "A lot of people will be thinking, 'Well, hold on, we haven't seen Chris Tarrant on TV for ages!', Why is that?" He responded: "I used to work like a dog, for years. I lost five really good mates, my sort of age, over about 12 months. I just thought, well, you know, I'm about the same age, I've worked very hard all my life. "I thought, do I really want to spend the rest of my life, whether that's a year, 10 years, 20 years or whatever, do I want to spend it in radio studios and TV studios? No, I don't. So I just pop in now to plug my book and then go home again." The 78-year-old informed the two hosts that he now leads a 'really nice' existence and is thoroughly enjoying it, reports the Mirror. Richard highlighted that Chris often gets incited to take part in reality shows, curious to know whether or not people would ever see him on one. When Charlotte suggested he join the I'm A Celeb line-up, Chris firmly disagreed with the idea. His response was firm as he commented: "No, I really wouldn't. I just couldn't stand it, I really couldn't. I don't want to lie with my head covered in maggots and them going down my trousers, no thanks." As the interview began to wind down, Richard told Chris that viewers miss his presence on television, while Charlotte teased her co-star about a name confusion incident during his appearance on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? She revealed: "You (Richard) kept calling Jeremy (Clarkson) Chris by mistake! So there you go, that's how much he missed you." Chris responded with: "When you do a show like that, one of the briefings, know the name of the host! It's very important."
