'Are you f****** joking?': Bunnings employee leaves TikTok star in tears after sharing sold-out Bluey gnomes

TikTok personality Christian Hull has been brought to tears by a Bunnings employee's generosity during a recent store visit while trying to hunt down a sold-out item. Hull recorded a recent trip to the hardware chain in which he was trying to get his hands on the sought-after 'Bride and Groom' gnomes from the ABC cartoon series Bluey. Bunnings recently restocked a fresh line of Bluey-themed garden gnomes and other show-related merchandise as part of a tie-in with the popular children's TV series. As part of the promotion, Bunnings has rebranded several stores across the country to 'Hammerbarn' – the fictional hardware store featured in Bluey. @christianmhull WHAT A ROLLERCOASTER! New Bluey husbands (gnomes) launched in Bunnings this morning and I thought I'd missed out! ♬ original sound - Christian Hull The gnomes, which first appeared on shelves for a limited time last year, have once again sparked a buying frenzy after returning to shelves last month. Bunnings has introduced a purchase limit of 4 gnomes per customer to avoid bulk-buying of the limited-edition product or reselling the $19 figures for profit. In his now-viral TikTok, Hull recorded himself searching a Bunnings store for the hard-to-find 'bride and groom' editions of the gnomes. One of the workers at the store informed Christian that most of the gnomes were already sold out but suggested he check the range in aisles 13 and 14. The Bluey gnomes have sparked a frenzy. However, a friendly Bunnings staff member named Alycia stepped in to save the day after hearing word of Hull's hunt. 'I hid two for you!,' the staff member said. 'Are you f****** joking?,' a shocked Hull replied. The ABC recently removed the "hammerbarn" episode that sparked the gnome craze. Picture: ABC. The kind staff member then disappeared out the back before returning with the two prized gnomes. 'WHAT A ROLLERCOASTER! New Bluey husbands (gnomes) launched in Bunnings this morning and I thought I'd missed out!,' Hull captioned the clip, which has attracted almost 700,000 views in a few days. The heartwarming moment comes days after the ABC controversially removed the 'Hammerbarn' episode that sparked the gnome craze from their iView streaming service. It is understood the national broadcaster is prevented from partaking in commercial partnerships and will restore the episode at a later date after the Bunnings promotion ends. 'As the ABC cannot align with a commercial brand or partnership, the Bluey episode 'Hammerbarn' will temporarily be unavailable on ABC iView,' an ABC spokesperson told last week. 'However, 'Hammerbarn' will return to ABC iView at a later date. All other episodes of Bluey seasons 1-3 remain on ABC iView for Bluey fans to enjoy.'

Shopper in tears over Bunnings employee's unexpected act: 'Are you joking?'

Christian Hull has been brought to tears by a Bunnings employee's random act of kindness during a recent store visit. The Aussie podcast host was trying to get his hands on the sought-after Bride and Groom gnomes from the popular children's TV series Bluey. One of the workers at the store informed Christian that most of the popular $19 gnomes were already sold out but suggested he check the range in aisles 13 and 14. However, the two gnomes he wanted were nowhere to be found. 'Are there any secretly out the back?' Christian cheekily asked. In an unexpected move, employee Alicia told the comedian she had set aside the Bride and Groom gnomes for him, knowing he had been looking for the pair. 'Did you actually?' Christian said in disbelief. The worker, who's among Christian's 1.9 million followers on TikTok, decided to put the gnomes on hold for him after seeing his plea on social media. 'Are you joking?' he said. 'Oh my god, I'm gonna cry with absolute joy and happiness.' Christian burst into tears as the employee returned with the gnomes. Filled with emotion, he then started hiding his face under his hand, laughing hysterically as he realised: 'I'm a grown man.' 'Oh my god,' he added. The shopper said he couldn't believe his luck. 'I legitimately thought I was going to come in here, and they'd be all gone,' he said. 'But thank you to Alicia from Bunnings, who I'm campaigning for a pay rise.' 'Oh my god, I secured the gnomes I have the husbands and a wife,' he said. 'I repeat, I have husbands and a wife. How the f*** did I manage that? Well we all know how - it was Alicia. She was the absolute best human ever.' Sitting in his car in the Bunnings carpark, Christian said: 'Genuinely, hand on heart, (I thought I) was going to film my disappointment.' The shopper joked he had 'slept through' the 'buying craze' on launch day so he thought he'd 'miss out yet again' on the wildly popular Bluey gnomes. However, he thanked the employee for her kind gesture after she helped him secure the two gnomes he needed for his collection. 'What a rollercoaster,' he said. His video has been viewed more than 640,000 times - with many saying they were delighted to see the Bunnings employee going above and beyond for Christian. 'I love this for you. As a fellow Bunnings gal Alicia is a SLAY for doing this,' one said. 'This is so beautiful. I used to work in retail and had a few special customers I would keep certain items for that I knew they'd like. This is what exceptional customer service looks like, going above and beyond,' another shared. 'Alicia. What a legend,' one suggested. 'Alicia is the real MVP,' another added. The Bluey gnomes have been flying off shelves across Australia in recent weeks - just a year after they sold out in just hours.

Christian Hull in tears over Bunnings worker's 6am act

Christian Hull has been blown away by a Bunnings worker who went 'above and beyond' to secure him a cult item during a nationwide frenzy. The Aussie comedian was among the thousands of shoppers who visited the retailer on Wednesday desperate to get their hands on its range of limited-edition Bluey products that had returned to shelves. The Brisbane based celebrity, who is a huge fan of popular children's TV show, missed out on the four garden gnomes when released last year, and turned to his army of loyal fans to help him locate the 'hot-ticket' items. His quest was a success, but not before he went viral multiple times with the extreme lengths he took – including flying to Tassie to do a deal on a street corner. After hearing Bunnings had now released three new outdoor figurines based on the show's characters, he headed straight over to his local store, only to discover stock had been cleared out during a '6am rush'. Little did he know though, that a Bunnings employee at the Newstead, Queensland, store named Alicia, had already stashed the two new bride and groom gnomes – dubbed 'husbands' on Bluey – for him. And her actions have earned huge praise from Hull's fans. 'I still cannot believe my luck,' he wrote on social media. 'This morning at 6am Bunnings opened with new Bluey gnomes (husbands) and people bought them out. 'I woke up at 9am and thought, bugger I've missed out. I wandered into my local just to check to see if by sheer chance there was some left. There wasn't. 'As I looked at the pile of gnomes I already had, deflated, Leesh, a Bunnings Newstead team member said 'follow me' …' Alongside his post was a 3 minute video Hull filmed of his venture to the hardware store, which showed the comedian's rollercoaster ride of emotions as he went from believing he'd 'missed out' to a tear-filled but delighted Bluey fan. Hill's fans flooded the comments section of his video on Facebook and TikTok, declaring Alicia a 'legend' who deserved a pay rise. 'It's rare these days people make the effort to give these amazing staff members proper formal compliments, please can you contact Bunnings head office and put in a compliment for Alicia,' one said. 'Alicia out here doing the Lords work,' remarked another. As someone else declared: 'ALISHA NEEDS A PAYRISE!! HOW AWESOME IS SHE?' Hull has since confirmed he has sent a glowing feedback form to Bunnings for the staffer who made his day – and also called on the Australian retailer to 'give a pay rise' to the star worker. 'Legitimately, hand on heart, was going to film my disappointment after I sleep in, through the gnome buying craze, and miss out yet again,' he said in the clip. 'Sometimes I really love people, and Leesh … oh my God I could cry with absolute joy and happiness.' Bunnings has once again transformed stores in Australia and New Zealand into 'Hammerbarn', a fictional DIY store featured in the popular children's TV show, Bluey for the month of August following its success last year. As well as rebranding shop fronts and hosting Bluey -themed kids DIY workshops and scavenger hunts, Bunnings is selling a limited-edition product range – including the garden gnomes based on the show's characters which previously sparked a mad frenzy. The return of the $19 figurines – dubbed 'husbands' in one Bluey episode – has caused a similar reaction, with shoppers rushing to stores in the early hours in a bid to snag one. 'Went at 6am and it was a fight to get one,' reported one shopper on Facebook. 'There was a rush at 6am in Kirrawee, they are all gone now,' another added. As one commented: 'I missed out last year, am going to try my luck later.' Bunnings said that in order to avoid customers bulk-buying the limited-edition product, it had introduced a purchase limit of 4 gnomes per customer. But it appears to have done little to stop those hoping to cash-in on the item's popularity, with many of the gnomes already appearing on eBay with asking prices as high as $1000. This time around there are 7 different characters available, including the 3 new additions – Gerald and Bride and Groom Gnomes, which Bunnings said it was 'expecting to be hot property'. 'It's clear how much fans connect with the show given how quickly last year's Bluey gnomes flew off the shelves,' Justine Mills, Bunnings General Manager Marketing, said. 'We know they will be eager to build on their collections, and we're excited to see how customers respond to our new range and in-store activities.' Other items available in the beloved collaboration include Hammerbarn branded socks, key rings, bucket hats and kiddo's tote bags that are available across all stores, while stock lasts.

Australian comedian left 'mortified' after committing common influencer blunder at café: 'I just want to hide'

An Australian podcaster and comedian has been left 'mortified' after experiencing a very awkward misunderstanding at a café. Christian Hull, who hosted the Complete Drivel podcast, shared a photo to social media on Friday of him sitting at an outdoor café in a rainbow patterned jumper staring into space. The Brisbane-based social media personality has 1.9million followers on TikTok and a further 296,000 on Instagram, but was issued with a humbling reminder that online fame does not always translate to real life on Friday. 'I had a "main character syndrome" moment and I'm so embarrassed. Mortified. I'm at a café sitting outside and just ordered so can't leave. Here is what happened,' Christian began. The comedian described a painfully awkward interaction while dining in the stylish rainbow-striped top. 'I hear "That's a gorgeous jumper!", and before even looking up or confirming that compliment was for me, I took it,' he explained. '"Thank you so much," I say, as I raise my head to look at the ladies complimenting me – only to see them talking to another woman in a green sweater.' Christian added he was left red-faced after the humiliating misunderstanding. 'I was loud. So loud they heard. It was so f***ing awkward because none of the four pairs of eyes looking at me addresses what's just happened,' he said. 'They weren't even talking to me! I have no one to laugh with. Or clarify how insane this was. They go back to complimenting the green sweater. 'I'm sitting here opposite them waiting for my burger... so embarrassed. I just want to hide and not be seen!' Earlier this month, Christian was caught up in another embarrassing incident at Brisbane Airport, and shared a post to social media in which he apologised to a fan for being short with them. 'I'm on my way to Sydney to see family. I'm currently at Brisbane Airport and just suffered a HUGELY EMBARRASSING INCIDENT,' he began. 'Firstly to the lady that asked for a photo, and I hurried her along, I apologise. I don't have to run to my flight, I was lying. 'Secondly, to the lady I heard calling my name I'm so sorry I ran away from you... here is what was happening. I P***ED MY PANTS!' He added he was in a rush to clean up the mess and so didn't have time to chat to his fans, as he normally would. 'One day I will share the full story but my pants were soaked with urine... I was running to buy new pants and board a flight. Time was of the absolute essence,' he wrote. 'This was so disgusting and stressful. I had cleaned myself at the bathroom but there was no way I was sitting in piss soaked pants for the next 7 hours while I travel to the Blue Mountains. 'WHY AM I SUCH A DISASTER?'

Aussie man's crazy find at antique store sparked by 'random set of coincidences'

Comedian Christian Hull admitted to Yahoo News he was having a lousy day when he headed towards his favourite antique store in Brisbane to cheer himself up. What he spotted there remarkably turned his day. The beloved Aussie performer, originally from Sydney, recently visited the New Farm Antique Centre in search of house decor when "there on the ground is a beautiful, bright coloured artwork that reminds me so much of my aunt". It stopped him in his tracks. "It was her style of drawing and [it] just screamed at me. I thought to myself how strange that this drawing instantly reminded me of her. I wanted it," he said. After searching for the artist's signature on the drawing, he spotted it in the corner and he "screamed". "It was her classic HMK in a circle. I was stunned, here was a work she had done before I was born," he said. Hull's aunt, Helen McCosker, is a professional children's book illustrator and in a "crazy" twist of fate, one of her early works happened to land in a thrift store close to the home he chose after moving interstate. "I know it doesn't sound like a big thing but finding my aunt's work she made in the 80s, up here in Queensland in a shop near where I live is genuinely such a random set of coincidences," he told Yahoo News. 👗 Aussies divided over op-shop prices in one of the richest postcodes 🤑 Outrage over $400 Salvos find as 'ridiculous' problem worsens 💃 Incredible twist after origin of $16 op shop dress revealed Hull was told by one of the workers that they had "bought it at an art auction in Albion" and was delighted to sell it back to a relative of the original artist. "It was $200 but I would have paid more," he said. "[I keep it] right opposite my work desk at home. I look at it everyday. It such a beautiful work with a really cool story." Hull contacted his aunt about the discovery and all she could remember was that she drew it during a life drawing class in Sydney and the model's name was Andrew. "It's still in its original frame... we both were shocked at the randomness of the discover. I'm so excited to have this on my wall. "I did tell her I was hoping it was a secret lover and that I had uncovered a scandalous family secret but sadly it's not the case." Do you have a story tip?
