Copenhagen's Street Style Scene Is Still Untouchable—Here's Proof
And just like that, the spring/summer 2026 fashion season begins. Copenhagen Fashion Week kicked off this week, which means all the fashion girls are emerging from summer hibernation (a.k.a. checking out of the Surf Lodge). While summer has kept me busy with no shortage of trends to cover—toe rings, shell jewelry, and genie pants, to name a few—I have to admit: I feel alive. There's just something about a fashion week. Ahead, see and shop the hottest trends from Copenhagen. Casual Cool Valentina Valdinoci The lines defining streetwear get blurrier every year. From Salomon sneakers to the athletic jersey trend, laid-back looks are totally en vogue. Polka Dots Valentina Valdinoci Surprise, surprise. The summer of polka dots appears to be melting into the fall of polka dots. My secret hope is that gingham carries through, too. Unexpected Layering Valentina Valdinoci I, for one, am part of the unfortunate generation that was raised with the impression that Disney Channel stars layering Delia's graphic tees and sweater vests was peak fashion. If you, too, have some healing to do when it comes to the idea of layers, stay the course. We've got this! Neutral Palettes Christian Vierig There's nothing wrong with your all-black outfit, but have you considered the other side of the neutral spectrum? There's a whole world to explore between bright white and deep charcoal—and don't be afraid to layer hues. Knits Christian Vierig Excited for sweater weather? Well, I have great news for you: It's come early this year. And yes, summer knits are having a moment. Frilly Shorts Raimonda Kulikauskiene Don't put your boxers and bloomers away when the first fall day hits. If Copenhagen's chicest women are any indication, this trend is here to stay. Rugby Shirts Valentina Valdinoci The day I graduated from my high school uniform, I thought I'd never wear a long-sleeved, collared polo ever again. But truth be told, these rugby shirts—which have been cropping up more and more lately—are so fun. What a great way to play with colors and stripes. Sheer Skirts Christian Vierig Although I've never thought of it before this, I suppose sheer and semi-sheer maxi skirts are the ideal transitional piece: breathable, yet not too summery. From lace to mesh, many of the most stylish attendees are wearing this trend. (Some are even layering another skirt over a see-through one!) Hoods and Headscarves Raimonda Kulikauskiene As you might have noticed by this point, everyone seems to be wearing hair scarves. Are they growing out baby bangs? Did they skip a wash day? Entirely possible—but I'm into the trend for aesthetic reasons as well as practical ones. Why Trust ELLE Every product featured on is independently researched, tested, or editor-approved. I Found 10 Chic Ways You Can Still Wear Black in High Summer Without Melting
Black is a color that can be found in almost everyone's wardrobe. However, when it comes time for summer, we often find that people ditch their dark wardrobes and focus on brighter tones for the season—or even all-white outfits. For those of you, like myself, who can't seem to let go of wearing black year-round, here's a friendly guide to the best ways to wear it this season without melting away. The Classic Slip Daniel Zuchnik // Getty Images There are a handful of good wardrobe staples when it comes to summer, and a slip dress is at the top of my list. Loose and simple, the slip dress makes for a comfortable yet classic, staple for the warm weather. Another reason it's a favorite of mine is its versatility, allowing you to dress it up or down. You could style yours with cool sneakers and a baseball cap to run errands in the morning, then easily switch to heels and a clutch for a night out. Breezy Shorts Daniel Zuchnik // Getty Images When temperatures start to rise, our hemlines tend to follow suit. Instead of reaching for your tailored pants this season, try a more cropped version. I find that shorts themselves can sometimes feel too casual, so I love the idea of dressing them up with a pair of heels for a nice contrast. A Touch of Lace Christian Vierig // Getty Images In these hotter-than-hot temperatures, the right materials can be your secret weapon to staying cool—and lace is among the top picks to help you get there. The texture and open weave of the fabric are great assets, allowing your body to breathe. Besides the material's practicality, it is also a great way to add dimension to an all-black outfit and provide visual interest. Plus, it's perfect for styling—seamlessly transitioning from a casual day look to a formal evening out. The Summer Suit Daniel Zuchnik // Getty Images A suit in summer can seem daunting as we navigate the heat. However, there's still a way to achieve that professional look without feeling like you're on the verge of melting. Instead of reaching for trousers, try a skirt or pair of shorts with a higher hemline. Another simple tip I love for blazers in the summer: Push up the sleeves and secure them with a hair tie. The Little Black Dress Edward Berthelot // Getty Images If you could only have one dress in your entire wardrobe, let it be the little black dress. It's a timeless staple that will never let you down, no matter the occasion. Even though it's undoubtedly a year-round piece, I find that the little black dress thrives in the summer months—especially in the form of a shorter silhouette. The Capri Comeback Christian Vierig // Getty Images Capris have made their return to the streets—though some still haven't quite welcomed them with open arms. Whichever side you're on, I would argue that capris are a great piece to have in your summer wardrobe. The cropped style is a great middle ground for when shorts might not work for the right occasion but the idea of trousers is already making you sweat. They're also incredibly versatile since they can effortlessly go from day to night. Vested In Summer Daniel Zuchnik // Getty Images When we think about styling a vest, we likely imagine a three-piece suit—and all those layers. However, summer is the perfect excuse to ditch the blazer and wear the vest on its own. Brands have introduced countlƒess variations of the waistcoat, and there are endless ways to wear it, whether you're headed to the office or out for drinks with friends. Bralette Daniel Zuchnik // Getty Images Bras don't necessarily need to stay hidden during the summer. In this case, bralettes are a great alternative for a top in heat wave-level temperatures. There are also plenty of styles to choose from, whether you prefer lace, cotton, or a ribbed knit (my personal favorite). They're easy to pack for those warm-weather vacations and perfect to style without a second thought. In other words, they're a perfect (small) addition to your summer wardrobe. Buttoned Up Jade Tillman Belmes // Getty Images A button-up is a go-to for me in the summer months—and something everyone should have in their wardrobe, even if it's your boyfriend's. The beauty of this year-round essential for summer is its endless styling potential. Of course, the sleeves can be rolled up (as they should be), it can be tied around the waist, or worn as an overshirt with a tank top underneath. In my opinion, it's a polished, classic piece that's effortlessly chic—no matter how you style it. Summer Sparkler Daniel Zuchnik // Getty Images No, black doesn't always have to be one-dimensional. Adding a little texture—or shimmer, in this case—can give the hue some life. With sequins, I always prefer a bit of balance. I love pairing a sequin bottom with a simple top, or vice versa, so the sequins can shine on their own. People Are Sharing The Trends They Never Expected To Comeback, And They Range From The Silly To The Actually Scary
There are some trends that, once left behind, you can't believe were ever a thing. Which makes it extra shocking when they actually do come back into style, as many trends from the '90s and '00s are. Recently, we asked the BuzzFeed Community which things they're most horrified have returned, and here's what they had to say... 1. "Low-rise jeans." "Did millennials not suffer enough to spare future fenerations the indignity and pain? —yl0613 2. "Skirts over jeans!" 3. "Those wide-leg pants everyone is wearing now." Edward Berthelot / Getty Images "I remember wearing those in high school, and now everyone is wearing them again 27 years later, including the same women I went to high school with." —AG 4. "Ballet flats!" Christian Vierig / Getty Images "The stench of them if it rains is enough to make you want to cry." —Kevin V 5. "Jelly shoes." Hanna Lassen / Getty Images 6. "Stirrup pants." Edward Berthelot / Getty Images —Stephanie 7. "Socks and shorts length for guys." "We've gone back to tall socks and short shorts for men, which predates me. It took me a long time to break the no-show socks of my generation, so I've settled on the new version of ankle socks (we used to call no-show socks ankle socks, but that's not the definition of ankle socks now). I still can't get behind the tall, full crew socks. Not practical for a guy with hairy legs at all." 8. "Von Dutch." Christian Vierig / Getty Images 10. "Mullets." 11. "It amazed me when vinyl records came back into style." NurPhoto / NurPhoto via Getty Images "The aggravation of keeping up with them, the scratches, the storage space, did I mention the scratches? While I missed the cool artwork and liner notes, it's such an inferior technology to me." — Lvanwinkle 12. "Polaroid cameras are hot with the youth right now." 14. "Being unhealthy skinny, and then basing your whole personality off your weight loss." Kseniya Ovchinnikova / Getty Images 17. "Nazis."
