She told the New York Times podcast: 'My mum really loved my dad for her whole life, and I think being married to someone in the music industry and not being a part of it is obviously really hard. Miley Cyrus opens up about dad Billy Ray's shock romance with Elizabeth Hurley

Miley Cyrus has weighed in on her father's shocking new romance with Elizabeth Hurley. Country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, 63, and former model and actress Liz, 59, went official with their relationship last month after posing together for a romantic Instagram picture. Leaning into each other in a grassy field, the stars certainly seemed loved-up, with Austin Powers star Liz wishing fans a happy Easter in the accompanying caption. A source later confirmed their romance, telling People Magazine: 'Liz is great and visited him for Easter. They've been seeing each other romantically for a little bit. And how lucky is he? Liz is lovely. She's very warm, positive and the best to be around.' They are said to have met on the set of their 2022 holiday film Christmas in Paradise, where they hit it off and kept in touch. Billy's popstar daughter, 32-year-old Miley, has shared her thoughts on the relationship, revealing what she thinks about her dad's new woman. 'As I've gotten older, I respect my parents as individuals instead of as parents because, you know, my mom really loved my dad for her whole life,' Miley told New York Times podcast The Interview. 'But now that my mom is so in love with my stepdad, Dom, who I completely adore, and now that I see my dad finding happiness outside of that too, I can love them both as individuals instead of as a kind of parental pairing. I'm being an adult about it.' The former Hannah Montana star's mother is Tish Cyrus, 58, who Billy Ray was married to from 1993 to 2022, and shares five children with. They filed for divorce twice before – in 2010 and 2013 – ultimately reconciling on both occasions. Tish is now married to Prison Break actor Dominic Purcell, who she married in August 2023. Of her dad's new romance, the Wrecking Ball singer said: 'At first, it's hard because the little kid in you reacts before the adult in you can go, 'yes, that's your dad – but that's just another person that deserves to be in his bliss and to be happy.' 'So my adult self has caught up. My child self has caught up,' she added. Miley's adult self recently released her ninth studio album. Titled Something Beautiful, it features the singles End of the World,More to Lose and Easy Lover. Prior to marrying Tish, Billy Ray was also married to Cindy Smith from 1986to 1991. In 2023, he married Aussie singer Firerose, only to separate seven months later acrimoniously, finalising their divorce in August. The Achy Breaky Heart crooner also has a 33-year-old son named Christopher, from a prior relationship with Kristin Luckey. As for Liz, she was married to Indian entrepreneur and businessman Arun Nayar from 2007 to 2010. She also shares son Damian, 23, with the late American businessman Steve Bing, and has had high-profile relationships with Love actually star Hugh Grant and the late cricketer Shane Warne. She and Shane got engaged in 2011, before amicably parting ways in 2013. Sadly, he died in 2022 of a heart attack, with Liz describing her subsequent grief as 'very hard.' It was while shooting romantic comedy Christmas in Paradise that she met Billy Ray. 'They had a great time shooting that movie together – it was beautiful and relaxed, and it really stuck with him,' a source told People Magazine.
