Ohio State head coach Jake Diebler breaks down the game of transfer Christoph Tilly
Ohio State head coach Jake Diebler breaks down the game of transfer Christoph Tilly The Ohio State basketball team you see next season will be significantly different than the one you watched this past year. Several players have left the program through the transfer portal, and that has led to some significant additions coming to the banks of the Olentangy as well. One of those incoming newcomers is center Christoph Tilly. He came to the Buckeyes after playing for the Santa Clara Broncos the last three years. He's a big man, but one that can step outside and use his athleticism to stretch the defense. When the Buckeyes signed him out of the portal, it didn't make a big splash in college basketball, but don't tell that to OSU head coach Jake Diebler. He is excited about what the seven-footer can bring to the team next season as the Buckeyes look to rebound from a very disappointing season. Diebler took to social media to discuss what Tilly can do for Ohio State on the court, and after you watch the short video, you too might be feeling rather optimistic about his chances to enhance the team's chance of making some noise this winter. Let's hope Diebler is right and that Tilly brings a different dimension to Ohio State this season. The team sorely needs a turnaround and some momentum to get back to where many believe the program should be. Boom! Ohio State basketball adds 7-footer from the transfer portal
Boom! Ohio State basketball adds 7-footer from the transfer portal Boom! The Ohio State basketball team has added a much-needed addition to its roster via the transfer portal. The Buckeyes have secured a commitment from 7-footer Christoph Tilly. OSU beat out Illinois who was also vying for Tilly's commitment. Tilly is a native of Germany and comes to Ohio State from Santa Clara after spending three seasons with the Broncos. His junior season was the most productive of his career where he started 31 of 31 games while averaging 12.5 points and nearly five rebounds per game. He would also be recognized as a second-team All-West Coast Conference performer. Tilly is a four-star prospect and is ranked the No. 7 center in the portal according to 247Sports. As one might expect from a European player, Tilly is efficient around the rim shooting close to 60 percent from in the paint and over 31 percent from beyond the arc. He can also make opposing teams pay for sending him to the charity stripe with a free throw percentage well over 70 percent for his career. This is a big get for Jake Diebler who is trying to rebuild after a disappointing season that saw the Buckeyes miss the NCAA Tournament for a third straight year. With Ohio State losing two centers in Austin Parks and Aaron Bradshaw to the portal, adding a center was a must. Expect Diebler and the Buckeyes to add one, possibly two more players from the portal before it's all said and done.

Texas A&M should go after Santa Clara transfer center
Texas A&M's 2024-2025 season ended at the hands of 5-seed Michigan in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday night, which led to the realization that the eight seniors would depart the program and the most significant era of Texas A&M basketball, led by the program's all-time scoring guard Wade Taylor IV. Entering an offseason filled with needs at every position, head coach Buzz Williams must utilize the transfer portal to the fullest extent possible. Forwards Pharrel Payne and Solomon Washington are the only key contributors assumed to return to the roster, while the backcourt depth is completely depleted with Zhuric Phelps and Manny Obaseki also departing. While guard depth will likely be the first position addressed, given the number of veteran guards in the portal, Williams needs to add another big man to pair with Phelps. Why not add a 7'0" playmaker with ball skills? Welcome German Santa Clara center Christoph Tilly, who moved like a guard and is coming off his best season after averaging 12.5 points per game. Santa Clara's Christoph Tilly will enter the transfer portal, per @JonChep The 7-0 center from Germany averaged 12.5 PPG, 5 RPG and 2 APG, was finished 2nd Team All-WCC7'0 with impressive fluidity, playmaking upside and athleticism — Arman Jovic (@PDTScouting) March 24, 2025 Again, Texas A&M needs more playmakers without Wade Taylor IV to rely on, and looking back on Buzz Williams' career coaching Marquette, Virginia Tech, and now, with Pharrel Phelps at A&M, the center and forward positions are vital to success in his system.
