Christus St. Vincent to expand services with new facility in Los Alamos
Mar. 27—Christus St. Vincent announced this week that it has purchased land and plans to build a multi-specialty facility in Los Alamos.
Christus Health, an international Catholic nonprofit health system based in Irving, Texas, has locations across the state. Its largest New Mexico facility, Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, is in Santa Fe.
The 25,000-square-foot facility is the latest addition to Christus St. Vincent's Los Alamos offerings, including a sports medicine clinic and recently opened primary care, cardiology and oncology clinic services, said President and CEO Lillian Montoya.
"This is an exciting opportunity to expand and enhance health care services in Los Alamos," Montoya said in a news release.
Hospital officials said construction details and an opening date will be announced at a later date. The lot at 401 Trinity Drive was previously owned by the Knights of Columbus of Los Alamos.
"Selling the land to Christus St. Vincent is a wonderful example of our legacy in helping provide space and support for high-quality health care in Los Alamos," said Michael Van Rooy, Knights of Columbus trustee.
Christus St. Vincent traces its origins to 1865. It was founded by the Sisters of Charity and is the oldest hospital in New Mexico. Today, it's Santa Fe's largest employer with roughly 2,500 employees, according to an Albuquerque Business First list.
