US VP JD Vance embarks on first official visit to India, to meet PM Modi in Delhi today
Rome: United States President JD Vance has departed from Rome Ciampino Airport for his first official visit to India, scheduled from April 21 to April 24. According to the White House Press Pool, Vance, who was visiting Italy with his family, boarded Air Force Two (AF2) on Sunday evening. The aircraft is expected to land at Air Force Station, Palam in New Delhi at approximately 9.30 am IST on Monday. He will be formally received at 10.00 am. A formal meeting between Vice President Vance and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled for 6.30 pm on Monday at the Prime Minister's official residence, 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. In a brief yet endearing moment before boarding AF2, Vance was seen gently lifting his sleeping daughter, Mirabel, from their car, while his sons, Ewan and Vivek, waved toy swords as they boarded with Second Lady Usha Vance. Following his meeting with PM Modi in Delhi, Vice President Vance will travel to Jaipur on Tuesday. On April 23, he is scheduled to visit Agra. His visit to India will conclude on Thursday, April 24, with his departure from the country at 6.40 a.m. Ahead of his arrival in India, hoardings welcoming JD Vance have been put up near Palam Airport and in the diplomatic enclave of Chanakyapuri in New Delhi. Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, had stated that India has a Comprehensive Strategic Global Partnership with the US, and when such a high-level visit takes place, all issues of importance are discussed. "This is an Official Visit. He will be meeting the Prime Minister. And with the United States of America, we have a Comprehensive Strategic Global Partnership. So, when you have that level of partnership with any country, obviously you will discuss all relevant issues," Jaiswal said during a media briefing last Thursday. He added that India was confident that the visit would provide a further boost to India-US bilateral ties. "And with America, with the United States, of course, our relationship is such that we are doing anything that is part of human endeavour... forms part of our bilateral engagement. So, all these issues, bilateral issues will be discussed. And we are very positive that the visit will give a further boost to our bilateral ties," he said.

New photos released to mark Charles and Camilla's 20th wedding anniversary
King Charles and Queen Camilla have released three official photographs to mark their 20th wedding anniversary. The images were captured in Rome following the couple's arrival for a four-day state visit. They show them shortly after landing at Ciampino Airport, having been escorted by an F-35 fighter jet. The couple were photographed at the Villa Wolkonsky, the official residence of the UK's ambassador to Italy and San Marino, Edward Llewellyn. Camilla is seen wearing a white and beige Anna Valentine coat. Two photographs depict the couple near the Neronian arches, part of the Aqua Claudia, a Roman aqueduct, while one shows them in the gardens of the villa. The royal couple's visit is expected to strengthen ties between the UK and Italy. Their anniversary evening will be spent as guests of honour at a state banquet in Rome. Charles and Camilla are expected to be joined by leading figures from Italian life at the black tie dinner, held as part of the couple's state visit. The head of state and his consort wed in a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall on April 9, 2005 following a romance that began when they were in their early 20s. Charles first met Camilla on Windsor Great Park polo field in 1970 when he had just left the University of Cambridge, a year before he joined the Royal Navy. No marriage proposal came despite the closeness between the pair. When the relationship cooled after Charles dedicated himself to his Navy career, Camilla wed cavalry officer Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973. Charles later married Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981. After Charles and Camilla both divorced – and Diana died in 1997 – Camilla's eventual emergence as Charles's long-term partner was part of a carefully planned PR campaign masterminded by the heir to the throne's spin doctor Mark Bolland. Their first public appearance together was outside the Ritz hotel in London in 1999, dubbed Operation Ritz, where the mass of waiting photographers had been tipped off. At their wedding reception, held the same day as the Grand National, Queen Elizabeth II said about their romance: 'They have overcome Becher's Brook and The Chair and all kinds of other terrible obstacles. They have come through and I'm very proud and wish them well. 'My son is home and dry with the woman he loves.'
