Johny Lever's daughter Jamie Lever asked to strip on a video call: 'A 50-year-old man...'
There is nothing new about the shocking scams that happen in the name of auditions, but every time we hear about them, they are equally disturbing and of course, no one deserves to go through such an experience. Recently, Johny Lever's daughter, Jamie Lever, gave an interview in which she recalled a horrifying incident. She revealed that she was asked to strip on a video call by someone posing as a director. Jamie shared how she was petrified and had to abruptly end the call. Read on to find out what she said about the incident.
Jamie Lever was asked to strip on a video call
Jamie Lever recently opened up about a disturbing casting scam she faced early in her career. Without a manager at the time, her contact details were widely shared, leading her to receive a call from someone claiming to be casting for an international film. Excited by the opportunity, she agreed to audition over a video call.
She told Zoom that, during the call, the person, posing as a director, kept their video off, claiming to be "in transit." They told Jamie the role was for a bold character and asked her to improvise a scene where she had to woo an older man. Shockingly, they suggested she should strip during the audition. Jamie refused, saying she wasn't comfortable and preferred a proper script.
'They said that you imagine there is a 50-year-old man in front of you and you are trying to woo this man, and eventually, there is an intimate scene. I said, 'I am not very comfortable with this. When there is a script I will follow that'. They said, 'There is no script, it is improvised so if you want to strip or if you want to say something or if you want to do something else, feel free to do that,' she added.
Realising it was likely a scam, she ended the call immediately. She later reflected on how the incident could have been used to exploit or harass her and said it was a blessing that she had the presence of mind to walk away. What unsettled her most was that the scammers seemed aware of her identity as Johny Lever's daughter and still attempted to trap her.
