River in cottage country closed for police investigation
Police closed a road and river for an investigation in Kawartha Lakes, Ont., on Sat., June 28, 2025. Provincial police have closed an area in the Kawartha Lakes region for an investigation after a vehicle appeared to have submerged in a local river. In a social media post, City of Kawartha Lakes OPP shared an image of what appears to be an upside-down vehicle completely submerged in a river. The post stated that Talbot River Road was closed from Shrike Road to Kirkfield Road for an investigation, and that the river in the area is also closed. Anyone with information about the vehicle is asked to contact City of Kawartha Lakes OPP. Note: This is a developing news story. We will provide updates when they become available.

Pedestrian seriously injured in cottage country collision
Provincial police are investigating what they are deeming a 'serious' crash in Fenelon Falls Friday morning between a vehicle and a pedestrian. According to City of Kawartha Lakes OPP, emergency crews responded to the incident at around 10:30 a.m. on Lindsay Street near Green Road. Police say a vehicle that was travelling north on Lindsay Street struck a pedestrian while they were crossing the street, later confirming that the pedestrian suffered serious injuries. The area was closed to allow for investigators to work on the scene. Police are asking anyone with additional footage or information that may assist the ongoing investigation to contact City of Kawartha Lakes OPP.
