JMC-H removes encroachments near Jaipur Junction, slaps fine
Jaipur: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Heritage (JMC-H) acted upon persistent complaints regarding filth and unauthorised encroachments outside Jaipur Junction by launching a major crackdown Monday.
A joint team from Civil Lines Zone and the Vigilance branch removed temporary encroachments along the road and pavement, seized five truckloads filled with material and imposed fines on shopkeepers for unhygienic conditions totalling Rs 49,500.
Sunil Kumar Bairwa, Deputy Commissioner of Civil Lines Zone, said, "We received frequent complaints about unsanitary conditions and unauthorised constructions outside the station."
JCB machines were used to demolish makeshift structures built in front of shops. Shopkeepers without proper dustbins or those found dumping garbage on the roadside were penalised. The corporation issued a clear warning: if shops are found without two designated dustbins, they will be at risk of being sealed.
Nidhi Patel, JMC-H Commissioner, conducted a surprise night inspection on Saturday, where she found that area in a highly unhygienic condition.

She immediately reprimanded the local health inspector and ordered strict actions within 48 hours. "Cleanliness and pedestrian safety around a busy area like Jaipur Junction is non-negotiable," Patel said.
The drive has brought relief to commuters and pedestrians, who faced daily challenges navigating through congested and filthy surroundings near the station. The corporation also announced that routine monitoring will now be conducted to prevent further encroachments and ensure cleanliness.
