Steps taken for smooth Fair Price shop services in Andhra Pradesh
VIJAYAWADA: With all the arrangements completed for the resumption of ration distribution through Fair Price Shops (FPS) across the State from June 1, the traditional public distribution model is set to make a comeback and end the reign of the Mobile Dispensing Units (MDUs). The Civil Supplies Department has conducted successful trial runs and service camps to ensure dealers and infrastructure are fully equipped. Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar, accompanied by Commissioner Saurabh Gaur, inspected the trial run and reviewed preparedness for the rollout. This strategic shift follows growing dissatisfaction with the MDU system due to irregular deliveries, technical glitches, and significant operational costs, nearly Rs 385 crore annually. Beneficiaries often faced difficulties locating MDU vehicles, resulting in missed rations and inconvenience, particularly in rural and low-connectivity areas. The reinstated FPS model is designed to be more accessible and accountable. Ration shops will now operate daily, including Sundays, from 8 am to 12 noon and 4 pm to 8 pm, with distribution scheduled between the 1st and 15th of each month. To enhance convenience and equity, the government has arranged for doorstep delivery of rations between June 1 and 5 to senior citizens above 65 years, persons with disabilities, and elderly couples. Beneficiaries who have relocated to other areas can avail themselves of rations from any FPS under the portability system.

Over 81L ration-card holding families to get 3 mnths' worth of rice at ‘Rice Festival'
Raipur: Chhattisgarh govt will organize 'Chawal Utsav' (Rice Festival) from June 1 to June 7 and during the week-long event, over 81 lakh ration card-holding families will receive three months' worth of rice — for June, July, and Aug — in one go. The initiative, led by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection, aims to streamline food distribution and enhance accessibility, particularly in remote and rural areas, ahead of the monsoon season. To facilitate this mega distribution, state govt has already allotted rice to 13,928 fair price shops across the state. These shops are currently stocking up rice to ensure uninterrupted and timely distribution during the Rice Festival. Officials confirmed that storage operations are in full swing. In anticipation of monsoon-related inaccessibility, the govt has made special preparations for 249 fair price shops that typically become unreachable during the rainy season. These shops will receive advance storage of rice within June itself to maintain consistent supply through the monsoon. As per departmental instructions, every shop will publicly display distribution information, and e-PoS machines will be used to ensure biometric authentication of beneficiaries. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Doutora: bolsas nos olhos sem cirurgia (em qualquer idade) Revista Saúde & Beleza Saiba Mais Undo A printed receipt will be mandatorily provided to every recipient, ensuring transparency and accountability. Transfer of civil supplies assets between TG and AP comes to the fore yet again
Transfer of assets of the Civil Supplies Corporation of the erstwhile united State has come to the fore yet again. A meeting between Minister for Civil Supplies N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Nadendla Manohar on Friday focussed on the phased transfer of assets pertaining to the Civil Supplies departments of the two Telugu States. The meeting deliberated on whether to allow the Telangana Civil Supplies Corporation to use half of the Civil Supplies Bhavan currently allotted to the A.P. Civil Supplies Corporation. The building lies unused. 'The primary dispute between the two States is about the reimbursement of the subsidy amount pertaining to Telangana having been credited into the account of Andhra Pradesh by the Centre,' a senior officer dealing with the State Reorganisation Affairs told The Hindu on condition of anonymity. While the neighbouring State is harping on the recommendations of the Sheila Bhide Committee on apportionment of the assets between the two States, the Telangana government is firm that the cash credit due to it should be reimbursed. The issue assumes significance as the assets of the Civil Supplies Corporation, including the Civil Supplies Bhavan, would come under the control of the Telangana government in line with the provisions under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the response from Andhra Pradesh on the transfer of assets located in Telangana to the State government was positive. The two sides discussed strengthening cooperation between the Telugu States on issues like rice exports. Telangana has officially begun exports to the Philippines through the Kakinada Port, with Andhra Pradesh extending critical support in port operations, storage and export procedures. Andhra Pradesh also offered its Visakhapatnam and Krishnapatnam ports for future consignments. 'This is not a matter of jurisdiction, but of mutual growth. Andhra Pradesh is happy to extend full support for Telangana's rice exports. Our ports are open to facilitate this shared economic activity,' said Mr. Nadendla Manohar.

Will work together for well-being of Telugus
Hyderabad: In a move to strengthen relations between the two Telugu states, Telangana Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Manohar on Friday decided to amicably address the pending issues related to division of assets as per the AP Reorganization Act. In a step forward, the AP Minister announced that the Andhra Pradesh government would hand over AP Civil Supplies Bhavan in Hyderabad to Telangana. During the two-hour long meeting at the Civil Supplies Bhavan here, Uttam and Manohar also discussed various pending inter-state issues mainly curbing the smuggling of fine variety paddy to Telangana from AP, use of cutting-edge technology to check corruption in the fine rice distribution scheme to the white ration card holders without any leakages, the export of Telangana rice from Kakinada to Philippines, etc. Manohar said that the transfer of assets under the AP Reorganization Act were pending since 2014 and hence the AP came forward to handover the Civil Supplies Bhavan spread over 25,000 square feet in the city to the Telangana government. 'We want to maintain cordial relations with Telangana state', the AP Minister said, adding that the Telangana government would take possession of AP-owned building in the Civil Supplies Bhavan on June 1. Sixteen flats in the Shanti Shikara Apartment will also be given to Telangana state, he added. Uttam Kumar Reddy said his government was ready to extend all help in transferring modern technology to enhance the quality services to the people in the Civil Supplies wing. Required facilities would be developed at Andhra ports to export Telangana rice to Asian countries, he said, adding that the recent unabated smuggling of the fine variety paddy to Telangana from Andhra was a cause of big concern for the two states. 'A mechanism would be developed by the two states to stop the paddy brokers from exploiting the Rs 500 bonus on the fine variety paddy scheme. Only genuine farmers from Telangana should benefit from the bonus scheme,' he said.
