Civilian Office of Police Accountability investigating shooting involving police officer on Southwest Side
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating a shooting involving a police officer on Sunday morning on the city's Southwest Side. The shooting happened in the 4800 block of South Bishop Street in the New City neighborhood. A large police presence is currently at the scene. Officers were also seen placing a number of evidence markers on the ground. It is unclear what led to the shooting or if anyone was injured. Chicago police officer fires shot during chase on Chicago's South Side
A Chicago police officer fired a shot during a chase in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood on Thursday night. Around 10:30 p.m., police said officers tried to break up a large crowd causing a disturbance in a park in the 4300 block of South Champlain Avenue. Police said a man then pushed an officer and ran off. Police chased the man, who they said ran around a building before running at an officer. During this chase, police said an officer fired a shot. Police said no one was injured. Officers took the man into custody, and charges are pending. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is now investigating. The officer(s) involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for a minimum period of 30 days

COPA investigating shooting by police in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood
A person was shot by Chicago police early Saturday morning in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood after allegedly striking an officer with a red pick up truck, according to Chicago police. Police said that around 2:10 a.m. on Saturday officers responded to a call of a battery in progress and shots fired at a business establishment in the 3100 block of North Central Avenue. An employee told officers that during a large fight outside of the business, a person fired a gun. The employee directed police to the suspect, a 28-year-old man, who was getting into a red pickup truck. As police approached the truck and ordered the suspect to step out, police said that the suspect refused and allegedly struck an officer with the vehicle, police said. Officers then fired their weapons at the vehicle as it fled the scene. Responding officers found the truck in the 3200 block of North Menard Avenue in Portage Park, where the suspect, apparently struck by the officers' gunfire, was found on the ground near the vehicle. The suspect sustained gunshot wounds to the body and was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition. A weapon allegedly was found inside the suspect's vehicle. Police said that the Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating the specifics of the shooting. The officers involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for a minimum period of 30 days.

An employee of the business told officers that someone fired a gun during a large fight outside. The employee then directed the officer to the suspected gunman, who was getting into a red pickup truck. Officers approached the suspect and ordered him to exit the car. The suspect did not comply and allegedly accelerated the truck in their direction and hit an officer, police said. Officers then shot at the car as the suspect continued to try to drive off. Police later found the truck in the 3200 block of North Menard Avenue and saw the 28-year-old suspect, who had been shot, on the ground near the car. Officers and paramedics tried to treat the man. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition. Police said they found a gun inside the suspect's car. What we don't know Police did not identify the suspect. It was unclear what the condition was of the officer who had been struck by the suspect's truck. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability was notified of the shooting, and they are investigating.
