Two teens rushed from TRNSMT festival to hospitals in Glasgow

The teensEmergency crews scrambled to Glasgow Green after concerns were raised. TWO teenagers were rushed to hospital after taking ill at TRNSMT festival. Emergency crews raced to Glasgow Green yesterday following concerns for the welfare of the boys, aged 16 and 17. ‌ They were rushed to hospital, but it is unclear what led to them becoming unwell. ‌ One was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, while another was raced to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'A 16-year-old male youth was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and a 17-year-old male youth was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary after becoming unwell at a festival in Glasgow. 'Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.' TRNSMT revellers basked in the sunshine for a second day as Scotland's summer heatwave reached fever pitch yesterday. Scotland's biggest ever music weekender has coincided with soaring temperatures across most of Scotland. The wall-to-wall sunshine, with temperatures hitting high 20s and low 30s, led to some music fans struggling to cope in the heat. ‌ They turned out in their thousands to give a raft of top acts including headliners Biffy Clyro, Fontaines D.C, The Kooks and Inhaler the warmest of welcomes last night. Many fans have already hailed the weekend a success after two days, despite a hiccup when security guards were found to have confiscated some fans' suncream at the site entrance due to a policy regarding bottle sizes and aerosols. After criticism from parents, the rule was rescinded. ‌ Media and communications graduate Claire Monaghan, 21, from Balloch, was among those giving Saturday's music bill the thumbs up. She said: 'I've been going to TRNSMT since I was 14. Obviously, it's local so it's good and the Scottish community feeling of everyone being united. Also, the line up is so good. They've managed to hit it out of the park. I love Fontaines D.C. I'd much rather this than be poured on in the rain.' Guy Dudman, 16, from Dunfermline, went taps-aff with his pals on arrival. ‌ Schoolboy Guy said: 'This is my first festival. I'm looking forward to Fontaines. They're my favourite. It is definitely tops off weather. 'I've got the sunscreen on and I think it's amazing with it being warm and everyone out enjoying the sun. It's brilliant.' Emma Scott, and Emily Gillespie, both 18, from Dunfermline, enjoyed a spot of sunbathing between sets. ‌ Emma said: 'This is our last year in school. I'm off to do a graduate apprenticeship and we're on our holidays. This is our first time together. I love it. The sun is amazing. I'm going to get a nice tan.' Emily added: 'I want to see Fontaines and Inhaler and we are mostly going to be at the Boogie bar and definitely the main stage.' Fine art student Alisa Campbell, 21, arrived on a day trip from Belfast, with pals Alanna McGann, 20, and Claudia Black, 20. Other acts performing yesterday include Miles Kane who stepped in for Wunderhorse after the group cancelled at the 11th hour due to illness. Underworld will close the King Tut's stage before Biffy Clyro round up the second day of the festival.

We're sussing around what is around us then going to see Hot Wax later on then we go home tonight.' Sustainability and environmental studies masters student Sara Philp, 25, from Dunbar, said 'Climate change is real. It's happening and you can feel the effects of that in Scotland clearly. We're making sure that we're doing loads of suncream and loads of water but so far it's been really good and we're looking forward to the acts. ‌ Bartender Lauren McLay, 24, from Midlothian, said: 'We've just seen the back ends of two acts. TRNSMT is amazing but we're going to be sweating. We'll be fine. We've got suncream and a brolly. People must think we're idiots but the brolly is because there is no shade anywhere.' Office assistant Hannah May-Philips, 26, from Armadale, enjoyed an ice-cream in the sun. Hannah, who travelled to the site with pal Amy Gilland, 23, said: 'This is my first time. The festival is really cool. It's really well put together.' 'The ice cream is needed in the hot weather. We actually got our tickets last minute. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! 'We'd been thinking about it for a while and because the sun's out, we thought why not, we'll come for the day. We are here to see Jake Bugg later on and Sigrid as well. This is my second time coming. I came a few years ago before Covid and in 2019 really loved it and I'm loving it today. The weather is really making it.' One dad said: "Security at TRNSMT are taking sun cream off people at the gate. My daughter took a small travel sized aerosol sun cream which was taken off her at the entrance. I just think given the weather, it is irresponsible and common sense should prevail.' ‌ Following feedback from ticket holders, organisers have since updated their guidance. A festival spokesperson said: "In line with our prohibited items list, fans were previously permitted to bring small, travel-sized sunscreen into the festival. Following feedback and in response to the ongoing warm weather, we have updated this guidance. ‌ "Fans are now allowed – and encouraged – to bring sun cream of any size to apply throughout the day. Free sun cream will continue to be available at our help and welfare points for anyone who needs it." One surprise set is Amy Macdonald's 6pm gig in the Hangout stage. Other acts performing today include Miles Kane who took over from Wunderhorse after the group cancelled at the 11th hour. Underworld will close the King Tut's stage Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro will round up the second day of the festival performing on the main stage at 9.10pm until 10.50pm.
