HOLLYOAKS has teased two shock arrests, a major cheating scandal and given the first look at a rival soap star joining the show. The Channel 4 soap has released its big summer trailer ahead of its huge 30th anniversary celebrations in October. 4 4 4 4 And there is so much to whet fans' appetites. Fans watching the trailer will see the bombshell moment Rex Gallagher turns on his dangerous sisters Grace Black and Clare Devine. The two villains end up being arrested and facing prison for their sexual exploitation and modern day slavery rackets. And there's the first look as Clare comes face to face with someone who could rival her in the evil stakes - her own grandfather, Fraser Black Sr - or Froggy as he prefers to be known. The gangster will be played by Emmerdale star John Middleton - and he's sticking around as a series regular to go head to head with Clare. Set to be one of Hollyoaks' most 'evil' villains, Froggy is currently residing in Longmere Prison but is soon to be released with plans to leave his criminal past behind. John Middleton confirmed to be joining Hollyoaks Also known as Notorious Froggy or Fraser Black Senior, while in prison he has befriended long-term character and fellow inmate Tom Cunningham, with the pair working together to conspire against Clare Devine. Middleton, who starred in ITV's Emmerdale as Ashley Thomas from 1996 to 2017, said: 'From vicar to villain is quite a leap but that's why I love this part. 'Froggy has a very dark history and he could reveal everyone's murky past. He knows where all the bodies are buried; perhaps quite literally…' The actor left Emmerdale in 2017 after his character suffered a harrowing dementia storyline. Actor John Middleton, known for his long-running role as vicar Ashley Thomas on Emmerdale, is to join the cast of Hollyoaks as a series regular, it has been announced. Middleton will play the character of Froggy, who is the grandfather of Clare Devine, Rex Gallagher and Grace Black. Froggy, also known as Notorious Froggy or Fraser Black Senior, is currently residing in Longmere Prison but is soon to be released with plans to leave his criminal past behind. In prison he has befriended long-term character and fellow inmate Tom Cunningham, with the pair working to together to conspire against Clare Devine. Middleton, who starred in ITV's Emmerdale as Ashley Thomas from 1996 to 2017, said: 'From vicar to villain is quite a leap but that's why I love this part. The Channel 4 soap is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a month of huge surprises later this year and a once in a lifetime chance for a soap super fan to join the cast. 1 Jez has become Hollyoaks' most prolific killer ever with his out of control antics being covered up by mum Martha.
