Lisa Vanderpump horror as her future Vegas hotel catches on FIRE in wild incident

A fire broke out at the site of Lisa Vanderpump's future hotel in Las Vegas, can confirm. A representative for Caesars Entertainment revealed a blaze in the parking lot of The Cromwell - the boutique lodging being turned into The Vanderpump Hotel - was 'quickly extinguished' on Friday. No injuries were reported, and several guest rooms were 'briefly evacuated' out of 'an abundance of caution', Senior Director of Public Relations Kala B. Peterson told 'Early this morning, a fire broke out inside the parking garage at The Cromwell. It was quickly extinguished, and there were no reported injuries. Out of an abundance of caution, some guest rooms were briefly evacuated,' Peterson said. 'At this time, all operations have returned to normal. We would like to thank the Clark County Fire Department for its swift response.' Video of the incident was captured by X user @iSeeCyrus, with a clip showing smoke billowing out of the front of the hotel. The fire department could also be seen on the scene. It is not known exactly how the fire was sparked. '#Cromwell is on fire! I guess Vanderpump wanted to start the renovations early ...#Vegas #LasVegas,' @iSeeCyrus captioned the post on July 4th. Lisa announced plans to transform The Cromwell into The Vanderpump Hotel back in March, marking her latest establishment in Sin City but her first-ever hotel. 'I am thrilled to once again be partnering with Caesars Entertainment, this time to venture into the hotel business,' Lisa said in a press release at the time. 'What an extraordinary opportunity to develop this iconic location into something unique, playful and upscale. Hospitality has always been our passion, and our mission is to create something sumptuous with a unique atmosphere. 'Our successful history has always been based on the individuality of the location. Through my design company, Vanderpump Alain, with my partner Nick Alain, we can't wait to breathe new life into this property and make it something truly magical.' The Cromwell's transformation into The Vanderpump Hotel will begin early next year, with the hotel's 188 guest rooms and suites set to undergo a redesign. The hotel reception and front desk area will also receive an upgrade, and a brand new lounge will be constructed as well. 'The design will feature signature Vanderpump Alain furnishings and lighting fixtures and, as always with Vanderpump projects, everything will be bespoke and created specifically for the location,' the press release stated. 'As a hotel, there will be an emphasis on sexy elegance and comfort, with gorgeous rooms and a fresh, new feel to the casino floor. Vanderpump will also hand-select the amenities for hotel guests.' The Cromwell will remain in operation as becomes renovated into The Vanderpump Hotel, and the transformation is set to be finished by early 2026. It will be the newest member of Lisa's Las Vegas hospitality family, with the Bravolebrity also having other restaurants and bars at other legendary hotels. Lisa owns numerous eateries, perhaps most famously in West Hollywood, with the staff of her restaurants starring in their very own reality show, Vanderpump Rules. For 11 seasons, the show followed the waiters and bartenders working at her various restaurants, with Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval, James Kennedy, Tom Schwartz, Katie Maloney, Kristen Doute, Stassi Schroeder, Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, Scheana Shay, and Lala Kent allowing cameras to follow their lives. Late last year in November, it was announced that the show would be getting an entirely new cast for it's upcoming 12th season - with only Lisa Vanderpump returning.

DUI punishments higher under 2 bills introduced Monday in Nevada Senate

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Republicans are proposing more severe punishment for driving under the influence with two new bills introduced Monday in the Nevada Senate. Senate Bill 304 (SB304) is simple, opening the possibility of a vehicular homicide charge in any DUI case resulting in death. Current law does not allow the vehicular homicide charge unless the driver has been previously convicted three times. Vehicular homicide is a charge that is rarely filed because prosecutors typically pursue a charge of DUI resulting in death. SB309 is much broader, with provisions that: Adds fentanyl and methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA or 'Molly') to the list of prohibited substances. Sets tiered sentencing requirements that increase for second and subsequent offenses. Triples the amount of the fine for a DUI from $1,000 to $3,000. Lowers the threshold for the highest DUIs from 0.18% blood alcohol level to 0.16.% If the person is in the treatment diversion program, it will still count as a prior offense. Adjusts the threshold for intoxication from 0.08% blood alcohol level to a new standard of 0.10% for a vehicular homicide charge. The changes in sentencing requirements also apply to boat operators. 'This is a significant bill that strengthens Nevada's DUI laws,' according to the SB309's sponsor, Republican Sen. John Steinbeck. 'Driving under the influence is entirely unacceptable, and we need to enact stronger laws to protect our citizens throughout Nevada. For nearly 35 years, I served with the Clark County Fire Department, and many of the worst calls I have ever been on are a result of someone driving under the influence. I have seen entire families killed by this reckless and 100% preventable behavior,' Steinbeck said. 'We have also seen a trend of more people driving under the influence of marijuana than ever before. Since the legalization, some drivers have wrongly interpreted that it is ok to drive a vehicle after or while using marijuana. SB 309 addresses this, along with many other deficiencies in our current DUI laws, that make it more difficult to hold offenders accountable,' he said. SB304 has five primary sponsors and three co-sponsors, all Republicans: Sens. Jeff Stone, Ira Hansen, Carrie Buck, Lisa Krasner and Robin Titus are the primary sponsors; co-sponsors are Sens. John Ellison, John Steinbeck and Assem. Danielle Gallant. SB309 is sponsored by Republican Sen. John Steinbeck. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Nevada proposal would add selling deadly fentanyl to first-degree murder charge

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A proposal at the Nevada Legislature would amend a charge of first-degree murder to include providing fentanyl to a person who dies from an overdose. Senate Bill 153 from Republican State Sen. John Steinbeck would deem selling, giving or trading drugs 'inherently dangerous' in the eyes of the law. Voters elected Steinbeck in November as he served as chief of the Clark County Fire Department. He retired in January before the start of the legislative session. First-degree murder, the highest charge involving the death of another person, involves a willful or premeditated crime. Second-degree murder generally consists of a death where police and prosecutors believe there was no intent to kill. Current Nevada law allows prosecutors to charge a person who provided a deadly dose of fentanyl, whether they knew it or not, with second-degree murder. Should the bill become law, a person could be charged with first-degree murder should police arrest them for providing the fentanyl that killed another person. The charge also applies to any drug mixture with fentanyl in it. All other controlled substances would remain under the second-degree charge. In 2023, 302 people died from overdoses involving fentanyl in Clark County — a 28% increase from 2022. Data from 2024 was not finalized because toxicology results can take months to process. In April 2024, the federal government reported fentanyl was the leading cause of death for Americans between 18 and 49 years old. As the 8 News Now Investigators have previously reported, the Drug Enforcement Agency said the majority of fentanyl coming into the United States is smuggled through ports of entry. A file photo of blue fentanyl pills is shown in this story as an example of what police are finding across Clark County. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
