Alabama commitment receives in-state high school football honor
Coming off a stellar sophomore high school season, Alabama Crimson Tide commit Jabarrius Garror received one of the state's top individual accolades Tuesday afternoon, as he was officially named the Class 5A Lineman of the Year.
Presented at an event Tuesday in which Texas Longhorns signee KJ Lacey was also named the state's 'Mr. Football,' Garror was the lone high school player with Alabama ties to win an award.
Currently the highest-ranked member of Alabama's 2027 class, Garror is a highly-rated four-star prospect who currently ranks as the No. 35 prospect nationally according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Garror is also the nation's No. 8 edge rusher in the 2027 class, as well as the No. 2 player in the state of Alabama where he attends Vigor High School.
At Vigor this past season, Garror helped lead the program to 12-2 record, as well as a Class 5A state semifinal appearance. As a sophomore, Garror also racked up 104 tackles, 56 TFL, and 21.5 sacks for a defense that allowed only 5.9 points a game.
Garror has been committed to Alabama since July of 2024, and is one-of-two commits in the Crimson Tide's 2027 class, joined by wide receiver Alexander Ward.
