These Rare Performance Cars Were Hidden for Decades. Now They're Being Saved
Barn finds and garage finds are always a thrill. Often, they reveal hidden gems that have been tucked away for decades—nearly lost to time. Over the years, we've seen dozens of these discoveries, ranging from classic American icons to old-school trucks. This latest garage find offers an unexpected mix of high-performance icons. The Canadian dealership Silver Arrow Cars recently took consignment of a forgotten collection belonging to an 88-year-old owner. The collection includes pristine examples of a Ferrari 550 Maranello, an E39 BMW M5, and a 2006 Ford GT . Silver Arrow Cars shared photos of the vehicles—dust and all—on its Instagram page. As Carscoops reports , the trio had been tucked away for years in a garage in Newport Beach, California, only recently seeing the light of day. Each car had collected decades' worth of dust. The Ferrari 550 Maranello sat untouched for 25 years. It features a stunning Nart Blue exterior paired with a tan leather interior and has just 564 original miles on the odometer. Under the hood is a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine producing 478 horsepower. The 2002 BMW E39 M5 is also impressively preserved, with just 4,249 original miles. It's finished in Carbon Black with a black leather interior and wood trim. Powered by a 4.9-liter V-8, the M5 originally produced 394 horsepower. Photo by: Silver Arrow Cars | Instagram Photo by: Silver Arrow Cars | Instagram Last but certainly not least is the 2006 Ford GT, which is essentially brand new. It has only 720 miles and, according to Silver Arrow Cars, was 'never titled, never registered.' It sports the iconic red paint with dual white stripes and a black leather interior. Its supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 made 550 horsepower when new. The big question: What could this trio be worth? As commenters on the original Instagram post note, the E39 M5—with such low mileage—could easily fetch six figures. 'That M5 is gonna set a record,' one person said. Unfortunately, we may never know the exact amount—it was sold shortly afterward for an undisclosed price. The Ferrari 550 Maranello might command even more. Previous examples on Bring a Trailer have sold for anywhere between $150,000 and $250,000, depending on mileage, trim, and condition. Silver Arrow hasn't confirmed whether the 550 is still available. In a separate post, the dealership did say, 'Price? Who knows. Tough to decide where it stops.' But the Ford GT is likely the crown jewel. Pristine examples have sold for anywhere from $700,000 to $1.0 million at auction. With such low mileage, this GT could easily join the seven-figure club—for the right buyer. We'll have to wait and see. More Barn Finds Someone Save This Alfa Romeo Montreal Barn Find This Mustang Barn Find Looks Like a Basket Case... Windsor's annual Ouellette Car Cruise gears up for Friday
Classic restored cars like this one will be on a display during the Ouellette Car Cruise Friday, Aug. 15. (Gary Archibald/CTV News Windsor) It's a summer-time tradition that car lovers in the city of Windsor circle on their calendars – the annual Ouellette Car Cruise is back for 2025! The summer tradition takes place on Friday, Aug. 15 at 1 p.m., with the rendezvous of a myriad of vintage machines in all their glory at Riverfront Festival Plaza. At 6 p.m., the engines are started, and the cruise begins. The three-hour tour ends at 9 p.m. that evening. The event builds on the nostalgia of Windsor's storied automotive history and seeks to engage car enthusiasts, hobbyists, and the community at-large in celebration of our longstanding automotive roots. Jim Crichton Retired CTV News Windsor anchor Jim Crichton is a car enthusiast and classic car owner who often participates in the Ouellette Car Cruise in his classic 1966 Chrysler 300. (Gary Archibald/CTV News Windsor) Jim Crichton, retired CTV News Windsor anchor, is a car enthusiast and owner of classic cars who has participated in the cruise for several years. 'People who have classics like to drive them, but a lot of people don't have the time or the resources,' said Crichton. 'And with the weather we've had lately, they don't want to be out in a classic car without air conditioning on a 95 Fahrenheit day with a humidex – we understand that very well. So, these cars may come out for that cruise and then be put away till the next cruise night.' The route takes cruisers on a tour of the city from Ouellette Avenue to Tecumseh Road East and from Riverside Drive to Pillette Road.

UAE: How classic cars in Sharjah tell nation's history, serve as vintage time capsules
Classic cars are vintage time capsules that embody how the UAE was transformed from a pearl diving and trading society to a modern global hub. One Sharjah-based entity is preserving, restoring, and showcasing these cars as storytellers of the country's history. 'Vehicles like the rugged Land Rovers were used in early desert exploration while the American muscle cars were popular during the oil boom era,' said Ahmad Seif bin Handal, Director of Sharjah Old Cars Club and Museum. 'The elegant Mercedes sedans, favoured by early leaders, are symbols of Emirati resilience, prosperity, and evolving identity.' He added that by keeping these vintage vehicles 'operational and visible', the club was actively safeguarding a 'unique aspect' of the UAE's 20th-century heritage and connecting younger generations to the recent past. Established in 2008, the Sharjah Old Cars Club (SOCC) often conducts exhibitions and roadshows to integrate automotive history into Sharjah's broader narrative of tradition. Stay up to date with the latest news. Follow KT on WhatsApp Channels. Earlier this year, the second edition of the club's Sharjah Classic Cars Festival showcased over 400 rare vehicles, some dating back to the early 1900's. A 1988 two-door Range Rover Classic once owned by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and a 1988 four-door Range Rover belonging to the late Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan were among some of the exhibits. Influx of youngsters According to Ahmad, one of the most encouraging trends he has seen in recent times is the interest of the younger generation in classic cars. 'I am most excited about the noticeable influx of younger Emirati and expatriate enthusiasts, and we are pleased to see that this legacy will continue into the future,' he said. 'This new generation is often drawn in through social media, family influence, event exposure, and a growing appreciation for the mechanical artistry and historical significance of these vehicles.' He added that the SOCC works hard to reach out to youngsters. 'Most recently, our summer camp provided workshops and presentations that blended history, engineering, and hands-on skills,' he said. 'Family-focused events, meetups and our annual festival create environments where children and teens can interact with owners and their cars. We also use social media to showcase restorations and the stories behind the cars in an engaging format.' Using technology According to Ahmad, one of the biggest challenges in restoring classic cars is to keep the car authentic while doing modern upgrades to it. 'The core principle is respecting the car's original design and historical value,' he said. 'However, sometimes changes are necessary, especially if these cars are to be used on the roads requiring modifications for safety, reliability, and comfort specifically during the summer time.' He said that changing technology has helped aid in car restorations. 'Methods like 3D scanning and printing, and new fabrication techniques such as hydroforming and water jet cutting, are being increasingly used to recreate rare, damaged, or completely unavailable parts,' he said, adding that online communities and forums had made sharing knowledge, and finding rare parts easier. Maintenance Maintaining classic cars inappropriately was one of the most common mistakes made by rookies especially in the UAE, Ahmad said. 'The UAE's extreme heat, humidity, and dust pose unique threats,' he said. 'Keeping cars in non-climate-controlled garages or outdoors accelerates deterioration, causing rubber seals to dry and crack, interiors to fade and warp, and promoting corrosion.' He added that using incorrect oils or failing to change brake fluid regularly can also lead to problems. He also urged classic car owners in the country to work on their vehicles between 6 and 8am to leverage cooler temperatures and reduce thermal stress.

Singer Wows The Goodwood Crowds With Its Latest 911 Restomod

You may unsubscribe from email communication at anytime. 10 Years of Goodwood Exhibits Singer's first appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed was back in 2015, and in 2025, the company has reached the milestone of restoring and delivering 500 Classic, Classic Turbo, or DLS vehicles since its founding. As part of this year's extravaganza, the company is presenting two Porsche 911 Carrera Coupes reimagined by Singer, one of which will take to the famous Goodwood Hillclimb, while the other will be on display outside the Stable Yard, giving visitors to the event a taste of its soundtrack and a close-up look at all the details, which, as always, are immaculate. Just 100 will be made, but they won't be done quickly. 0:07 / 0:09 2025 Audi S3: 4 reasons to love it, 2 reasons to think twice Watch More 964 Becomes Something More With Cosworth The reimaginings start with Singer's usual foundation, the 964-generation Porsche 911, which is fully disassembled and stripped until the steel chassis is exposed. This is meticulously assessed, cleaned, and prepared before chassis strengthening – developed with Red Bull Advanced Technologies – is applied to enhance rigidity, thereby allowing the chassis to make the most of its new engine, which is derived, in part, from that of the DLS program. The body is then widened to mimic the swollen stance of the original 930 Porsche 911 Turbo. In collaboration with Cosworth, the 911's flat-six has been significantly enhanced, even over previous similar reimaginings. For the first time, a Singer gets variable valve timing and water-cooled cylinder heads with air-cooled cylinders. There's also an electric fan that owes some of its existence to the DLS Turbo Study – necessary when the 4.0-liter engine delivers 420 horsepower and revs to over 8,000 rpm, which can be heard through a new titanium exhaust system. This is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, and Singer will gladly fit an exposed shift mechanism to highlight the detail of this restomod's beauty. Singer Also Takes Leather To New Levels Although the mechanical elements are the most attractive to the gearhead, Singer hasn't stayed stagnant when it comes to the cabin either, displaying leatherwork on both these reimaginations that features stitched and burnished seams, which requires hand-painting after edge sanding and takes 400 hours per car. The first car, finished in Celeste Passalacqua, features Mars Pink elements of velvet corduroy cloth, while the Giallo Segnale example gets a special Interferenza cloth in black. For a company only founded in 2009, that's a remarkable balance to manage with such poise, but Singer pulls it off once again. We can't wait to see what the next decade of Goodwood exhibits will bring. About the Author Sebastian Cenizo View Profile
