Union govt. has assured full support to develop Classical Kannada Centre in Mysuru: MP
MP for Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has said that Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar has assured the Centre's full support for the comprehensive development of the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada (CESCK) in Mysuru.
The Minister gave a detailed response in the Lok Sabha to a question raised by the MP regarding the status and development of the CESCK.
According to a press release from the MP, he sought to know whether the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada has been granted full academic and administrative autonomy, and whether any recommendations have been received from the State government or the Kannada Sahitya Parishat regarding its functioning, challenges, and autonomy. He also asked whether any proposal had been submitted to accord autonomous status to the CESCK.
In reply, the Minister clarified that the CESCK, which was previously functioning within the premises of the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) in Mysuru, has now been relocated to the University of Mysore campus here following a request made by the MP.
The Minister further stated that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 gives high priority to the promotion of all Indian languages, including Classical Kannada and other classical Indian languages. Steps are being taken to systematically evaluate and improve the performance of all classical language centres, including the CESCK.
The Minister has assured that the Centre is committed to supporting both the intellectual and infrastructural development of the Centre of Excellence for Classical Kannada, according to the MP.
