Family of teen 'picked up' up 3 men says 'we're coming for you' 'While this is a considerable step forward in this investigation, CCSO detectives are still seeking information about Mr. Anderson and circumstances leading up to the discovery of his body; specifically, the persons he encountered, his activities, and places he visited from April 1 to April 7, 2025,' the post reads. It adds, 'Anyone with information regarding this is encouraged to submit a tip through the SaferWatch app. You can remain anonymous and earn up to a $5,000 reward if the information leads to an arrest or significantly advances the case. You can also contact the Clay County Sheriff's Office directly at (904)264-6512.' Anderson's cause of death has not been revealed. The Clay County Sheriff's Office has not said whether foul play was involved. What happened to Nicholas Lamont Anderson? Anderson's aunt, Monica Tucker, said in an interview with NBC affiliate WXIA that her nephew had traveled to Jacksonville, Florida, to catch up with a man he had met on a dating app. However, he failed to return home from that trip in April. However, he was later cleared by authorities. 'First, he said he didn't see him,' Tucker said. 'Then he said he went to the hotel to watch movies. And then he says he took them to go get cigarettes, and then he kept saying something about a pier.' Trommell Henry, Anderson's stepfather, told CBS affiliate WANP that it was unlike Anderson to not check in with his family during his stay in Florida. "We needed him back home. We wanted him back home. Having family is truly the key,' Henry said. Mary Anderson, the deceased man's mother, revealed that her son had some mental health issues. 'I don't see him just randomly picking this particular place to go to, to travel to. So I feel as though it was someone that he chose to meet there,' she said. Remembering her son as someone who was full of life, Mary said she believes her son's case was initially not taken seriously. 'I thought no one cared about my missing Black boy,' she said. Tucker said Anderson has been taking his medication and that she suspects that foul play is involved in his death. 'He would never hurt himself, and he knows how to swim. So, there's no way. I think it's foul play,' she said.

Clay County Sheriff's Office makes over 100 arrests in countywide drug crackdown
The Clay County Sheriff's Office announced it has arrested more than 100 people and seized nearly 20,000 grams of illegal drugs as part of a countywide drug crackdown called 'Hammer and Hope.' The five-month-long operation targeted drug activity across the county, with a particular focus on the Middleburg and Clay Hill areas. 'Since January of this year, countywide, we made 132 felony drug arrests and 40 misdemeanor arrests,' said Clay County Undersheriff Ron Lendvay. Of the 132 felony arrests, 39 were made in the Middleburg and Clay Hill communities. Nancy Salyer, a Clay Hill area resident, says drugs are still a major issue where she lives. 'Hope that they can get more people than they already have, because apparently it's still a problem in Middleburg,' Salyer said. The operation, 'Hammer and Hope,' is an annual initiative conducted by the Clay County Sheriff's Office in collaboration with Clay Fire Rescue. It consists of two parts: enforcement and rehabilitation. 'The 'hammer' portion is focused on cracking down on drug dealers,' Lendvay explained. 'We believe that every addict, those who are in their family suffering from what they're going through, should be shown a path out — that's the 'hope'.' Clay Fire Rescue plays a key role in the second part of the initiative through its paramedicine program, aimed at helping people struggling with addiction. 'In 2024, Clay County Fire and Rescue responded to approximately 660 overdoses,' said Clay County Fire Rescue Chief Jairo Herrera. Herrera added that the department distributed more than 9,000 doses of Narcan to the community, with 106 of those doses administered by people outside of emergency services. Salyer said she supports both the enforcement and rehabilitation aspects of the program. 'If they can get them arrested, and maybe in a program or something to help them to clean up their lives,' she said. 'They are ruining their lives and need help,' she added. Officials said they also partnered with Impact Clay, who offer a pathway to those in need of help. CCSO added that the operation is part of a continued effort to reduce drug activity and help those affected by addiction across Clay County. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< [SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter]

Boater Skip Day in Clay County means hundreds hitting the open water to celebrate the unofficial kick-off of summer, all while taking a bit of unapproved time off work. 'A lot of the people that are going either take off work or take off school for this. However, the heightened crowds out on the water also mean more dangers to be aware of. [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks] 'When you put a bunch of people, a bunch of vessels, then you mix in the conditions of weather, heat-related illness, injuries with anchors, intoxication, and all that, you got to have as much help as you can out there,' Brooks Morrell with the Clay County Sheriff's Office said Friday. 'It's not a Clay County Sheriff's Office-sanctioned event or anything, but we're out there for the health and safety and the security of everybody out there, so we make sure that they have a good time out there.'
