DTC to launch 100 interstate e-buses

In a move towards sustainable mobility, the city is set to roll out 100 electric inter-state buses under the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), with operations expected to begin soon across 17 key routes, officials said on Friday. The decision was announced on Thursday during the DTC board meeting chaired by transport minister Pankaj Kumar Singh. Several high-demand corridors connecting the capital to neighbouring states and prominent pilgrimage destinations like Haridwar, Ayodhya, Rishikesh, Meerut and Baghpat are some of the initial proposed routes, around 250 to 300 kms from Delhi. The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has also been consulted to check the feasibility of operating buses along these routes, said officials. The initiative aligns with the Delhi government's 'Green Delhi, Clean Delhi' campaign and the broader development blueprint under the 'Viksit Sankalp Yatra', said Singh. 'These electric inter-state buses mark a major step in our sustainable mobility agenda which will improve access to neighbouring areas and pilgrimage hubs and reduce pollution levels in Delhi,' said Singh. The new Type-3 electric buses will be operated by DTC's existing workforce, ensuring a smooth integration into current operations. Senior officials confirmed that religious routes have been prioritized to meet growing demand from commuters travelling to popular pilgrimage sites. Type-3 buses are bigger vehicles used mostly on longer routes with more seating or even sleeping space.

Govt plans to roll out 100 electric inter-state buses linking 17 routes to Delhi

New Delhi: Soon, you may travel to Haridwar, Ayodhya, Rishikesh, Meerut and Baghpat in electric buses run by Delhi govt. Plans are in place to roll out 100 electric inter-state buses, which will connect seventeen routes to the national capital. A senior official of Delhi Transport Corporation said that the buses would cover areas between 250 and 300 km from the city. The routes are also likely to include Shimla, Lucknow, Aligarh and Jaipur. The decision was taken during a DTC board meeting on Friday. Transport minister Pankaj Singh said, "These electric buses will strengthen Delhi's connectivity with neighbouring states and will run across 17 identified routes, including several that connect to important religious and pilgrimage destinations." The initiative is part of the govt's "Viksit Sankalp Patra" vision, aligning with the broader goals of Green Delhi, Clean Delhi. These e-buses will be operated by existing DTC drivers, ensuring continuity and efficient utilisation of workforce resources, said govt. The board also presented a plan to enhance DTC's non-fare revenue through advertisements on buses. While the corporation plans to earn Rs 5 crore annually from advertisements, efforts are underway to bring more buses under ad coverage, aiming to multiply advertising revenue significantly. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Singh said, "The e-bus facility will not only improve access to neighbouring areas and pilgrimage hubs but also reduce pollution levels in Delhi." Earlier, DTC ran regular buses to areas in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, UP, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan, but began discontinuing services from 2001 onwards as its fleet switched entirely to CNG, which is not easily available in these states, making long-distance travel almost impossible. By 2010, DTC's interstate operations became limited to NCR because, on average, a CNG-run low-floor bus has a range of about 250 km per fill. A DTC official said that most commuters preferred the interstate bus services over buses of other state transport corporations. "Back then, DTC buses connected Delhi to several cities, including Jaipur, Chandigarh, Udaipur, Shimla and Haridwar," he added. Delhi to Allow Only BS-VI, CNG, or EV Commercial Vehicles from November 1: Delhi CM

Further bolstering enforcement, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras will be installed at all entry points and petrol pumps to detect and intercept end-of-life vehicles contributing to air pollution. You're reading Entrepreneur India, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. In a sweeping move to combat Delhi's chronic air pollution, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday unveiled the Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025, announcing that only BS-VI, CNG, or electric commercial vehicles will be permitted to enter the city starting November 1 next year. "From November 1, 2025, any vehicle that comes to Delhi will have to be a BS6, CNG, or EV commercial vehicle," Gupta stated during a press conference, quoted by ANI, marking a firm policy shift aimed at curbing vehicular emissions in one of the world's most polluted cities. The plan, launched ahead of World Environment Day, outlines a series of aggressive measures, including artificial rain through cloud seeding, strict surveillance on polluting vehicles, and a city-wide greening campaign. "Environment Day is very close, and air pollution in Delhi is a matter that is related to all of us. For years, we have been suffering from air pollution," Gupta said. "We have a dream – Clean Delhi, Green Delhi, Healthy Delhi." Among the key interventions, Delhi is set to witness its first artificial rain in the coming months. "Very soon, Delhi will have its first artificial rain through cloud seeding," Gupta confirmed. The project will be piloted in collaboration with IIT Kanpur, with the government already signing a Memorandum of Understanding for the initiative. "For example, the Delhi government has signed an MoU with IIT Kanpur, which is based on cloud seeding and artificial rain, which we have approved to start as a pilot project," she added. To curb dust pollution, the government plans to deploy mist sprayers across pollution hotspots and make anti-smog guns mandatory on all commercial high-rises. "It will be mandatory to install anti-smog guns on all high-rise buildings, especially commercial buildings above 3,000 metres, malls, hotels, etc.," Gupta said. Further bolstering enforcement, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras will be installed at all entry points and petrol pumps to detect and intercept end-of-life vehicles contributing to air pollution. "As soon as the vehicle comes in the range of these cameras, it will be known that this vehicle is end-of-life... so they will be traced and stopped immediately," Gupta explained. To enhance the city's green cover, the government will roll out the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign on June 5 with an ambitious target of planting 70 lakh saplings this year. "Our aim is for Delhi to get better air. Delhi air should be good; people should prefer to stay in Delhi instead of going out," she concluded.
