Texas A&M Softball remains in the Top 10 after going 4-1 after Week 2

Texas A&M softball had a strong showing at the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational, moving to 10-1 during non-conference play despite dropping their first game of the season to Oklahoma State. The Aggies went 4-1 during the weekend, starting with two wins before experiencing a heartbreaker in game three via a walk-off home run by the Cowgirls. The game was highly competitive, with an inconsistent strike zone leading to pitchers on both teams having to throw hittable balls to get a strike called in their favor. Unfortunately for the Aggies, Oklahoma State capitalized on one of those pitches, sending it over the fence for the win. Texas A&M responded well, but leaving Florida with just one loss was a bit of a struggle. Both Virginia and Charlotte gave them a run for their money in the final two games. The Aggies scored four runs in each game, providing enough cushion for their defense to secure the wins. All major softball polls have the Aggies still in the Top 10 following their 4-1 record at the weekend tournament in the Sunshine State. Auburn softball climbs into D1Softball's top 25 after 11-0 start

Auburn softball is 11-0, and the country is beginning to take notice. After going 5-0 on opening weekend, the Tigers slid through the challenging field at the Clearwater Invitational and emerged unscathed, catching the attention of the writers at D1Softball. Auburn's 6-0 weekend, which included two wins over ranked teams, has propelled them into D1Softball's top 25 rankings; Auburn checks in this week at No. 18 after being one of three teams unranked in last week's poll. Auburn took down then-No. 9 Oklahoma State and then-No. 22 Liberty to close out its stay in Clearwater with identical 2-1 scores. A bases-loaded walk to Anna Wohlers and a solo home run by Abbey Smith- the first of her career- lifted Auburn to a win over Oklahoma State Saturday while its two-run first inning was enough to lift the Tigers over Liberty on Sunday. Auburn also snagged come-from-behind wins over Charlotte and Virginia over the weekend. Icess Tresvik and SJ Geurin earned spots on D1Softball's All-Clearwater Invitational team for their efforts in Auburn's impressive run. Tresvik hit two home runs in the Tigers' 14-11 win over Charlotte on Saturday and logged six total hits. Geurin appeared in all six games of the Clearwater Invitational, picking up wins in four of those games in the circle with a save in the win over Liberty. She allowed two earned runs and struck out nine batters. The No. 18 Tigers return to action Friday for the Rocket City Showcase at Toyota Field in Madison. Auburn will face Louisiana Tech, James Madison, North Alabama, Miami (Ohio), and Jax State as part of the action-packed weekend at the home of the Rocket City Trash Pandas. Texas A&M softball moves to 10-1 on the season after the Clearwater Invitational

No. 5 Texas A&M softball team had a good performance at the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational, going 4-1 and moving to 10-1 during non-conference play. The Aggies started the tournament strong, outscoring their first two opponents 18-2. However, they suffered their first loss of the season to No. 10 Oklahoma State in frustrating fashion. Up 5-2 with two outs, the Cowgirls hit a double that scored two runs, followed by a walk-off home run to win 6-5 on day two of the Clearwater Invitational. Oklahoma State continued this trend by eventually walking off No. 12 Alabama in their final game of the tournament. Despite the setback, Texas A&M bounced back to win their final two games, showcasing their resilience and determination. Softball is a game of failure, requiring players to work through challenges and figure out how to win the next at-bat or pitch. The Aggies have a deep team, but some of the clutch experience that helped them through rough patches was noticeably missed this weekend. Head coach Trisha Ford understands that it's a work in progress, emphasizing that good teams make the necessary adjustments to win. The Aggies must develop the ability to bounce back and secure victories if they want to reach their potential for a successful season. "I just told him like good teams make adjustments quicker and I didn't think we made our adjustments as quickly" Below, you can view the best highlights from their game five win to close out the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational. Texas A&M will travel to Tallahassee Fla., for game 1 against Florida A&M in the JoAnne Graf Classic on Friday, February 21, at 1:00 p.m. CST. Tresvik, Peralta among college softball's top hitters from opening weekend

Auburn softball began its new era of softball under Chris and Kate Malveaux with a bang by outscoring its opening weekend opponents 44-19 en route to a perfect 5-0 weekend at the Tiger Invitational. Two key reasons for Auburn's success were seniors Icess Tresvik and Nelia Peralta. The duo combined to record 21 hits over opening weekend with three doubles, six home runs, and 18 RBI to emerge as the team's top hitters heading into week two of the season. Their success at the plate has landed them on a prestigious weekly list that includes the nation's top bats. Peralta and Tresvik were included in D1Softball's top 100 hitters of week 1 list after stellar showings at the plate last weekend. Peralta shared co-SEC Player of the Week honors with Oklahoma's Ella Parker after batting .611 with 11 hits, two doubles, three home runs, and 10 RBI with zero strikeouts in 18 at-bats. She began Auburn's comeback effort in the Tigers' 10-9 win over Appalachian State on Saturday by hitting a two-run home run in the 4th inning to cut the Mountaineers lead to 8-4. She hit another two-run shot in the 9th inning to solidify Auburn's come-from-behind victory. Tresvik hit two home runs in Auburn's 9-7 win over Southern Illinois on Saturday, one was a three-run blast that pushed Auburn to a 4-0 lead in the 3rd inning. Tresvik hit .588 on the weekend with 10 hits, three home runs, and eight RBI. Peralta and Tresvik will lead Auburn into the Clearwater Invitational this weekend, hoping to keep its unbeaten streak alive. Auburn will face Clemson on Thursday at 3 p.m. CT to begin this weekend's action at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Florida.
