Run, don't walk — the Hoka summer sale just dropped, and you can get 20% off my favorite running shoe
Whether you've signed up for a race this fall or you're just looking to upgrade your running shoes, I've got good news — the Hoka summer sale has dropped, and my favorite pair of everyday running shoes is 20% off. I test running shoes for a living, and right now you can get the Hoka Clifton 9 for just $115, down from $145 at Hoka The Hoka Clifton 9 is a reliable, everyday running shoe, best suited to easy miles and long runs. The Clifton is the brand's breathable, cushioned running shoe, designed for running and walking. It's on its ninth iteration, and it's now on sale following the release of the Hoka Clifton 10 earlier this year. The Hoka Clifton 9 is on sale in both men's and women's sizes right now at Hoka directly. At the time of writing, there are still a few color options left in plenty of sizes, including half sizes, but hurry, this sale won't last for long. The sale is only on the regular fit shoe. The Hoka Clifton 9 is a cushioned, everyday running shoe that'll work well for beginners and more experienced runners alike. It's not the fanciest or the fastest shoe around, but it's reliably comfortable, whether you're training for a marathon or using this shoe for your walking workouts. During testing, the Clifton 9 surprised me. I wore it for easy miles and faster tempo sessions, and found the new midsole foam used in this shoe gave it more of an energetic ride compared to the Clifton 8 or the Clifton 7. That said, it still feels like a Clifton — Hoka hasn't reinvented the wheel here, and fans of the shoe won't be disappointed. While the foam is definitely cushioned, it's not overly soft, but this gives the shoe a little more durability, especially if you're trying to use it for tempo sessions as well as easy miles. It's a decent all-rounder, and with 20% off, it's a great price. If you're looking for something a little faster and snappier, with the potential to also wear it on race day, I'd recommend looking at this Hoka Mach X2 deal, as recommended by my colleague Nick Harris-Fry. Not for you? Check out our best running shoes guide here, where we take you through our favorite shoes of 2025 so far.

The Hoka Tor Summit is an Alpine-inspired shoe that pays homage to the classic hiker. It's designed to wick sweat, reduce chafing, and fight odors so you can focus on your run without any distractions.

Run, don't walk! My favorite Hoka sneakers are still on sale for Prime Day right now
The end of Prime Day is usually a reason to be downhearted if you're an avid deal-hunter, but this year the best deals on running shoes haven't been part of the Amazon sale anyway. I've been checking for discounts on my favorite running shoes throughout the sale and the most exciting deals have been on Hoka shoes as part of the brand's own sale, as well as at REI and Dick's Sporting Goods. For my money the best deal of all is on the Hoka Mach 6, which is $97 down from $140 in Hoka's sale , a huge saving one of my top running shoes from any brand. There's more detail on that deal and three other excellent saving on Hoka shoes that are worth checking out. While these deals will keep running when Prime Day ends, bear in mind that popular sizes will sell out quickly, so don't delay in checking out any discounts you might be keen on. Some colors of the Hoka Mach 6 are reduced to $111 and one color of the men's shoe has hit $97 in the Hoka sale, the lowest price I've ever seen it. The Mach 6 is one of my favorite all-rounder running shoes, being cushioned enough for easy runs while also being lightweight and energetic enough for fast ones. Only the men's shoe is reduced to under $100, but you can get the women's Mach 6 for $111 in the sale. You can pick up the women's Hoka Speedgoat 6 for just $103 in the Dick's Sporting Goods sale. It's a great price for an excellent trail-running shoe that grips well and is comfortable on almost any terrain. The best deal on the men's Hoka Speedgoat 6 is on the sherbet color, which is down to $115. The Clifton 9 is a cushioned road running shoe with a soft and smooth rockered ride. It's great for cruising through easy and long runs, and is the perfect option for new runners in particular. Several colors are reduced to 116 in the REI sale, with limited sizes available in the men's and women's shoe. I've tested the Clifton 9 and newer Hoka Clifton 10, and I'd make the saving and get the older shoe in this deal. Not sure if you want a road or a trail-running shoe? The Challenger 7 does both well thanks to its well-designed outsole that grips well off-road while being comfortable on it. There are several sizes of the women's shoe still available in the sale, and a few of the men's Challenger 7 too.

Hoka is no doubt one of the most popular brands in the footwear space right now, so when their shoes go on sale, it's cause for celebration. Fortunately, July 4th is rich with markdowns this year, ushering in an unparalleled selection of Hoka sneakers, hiking boots, and even slides with major price cuts to celebrate the long weekend. After scouring the likes of REI, Zappos, Nordstrom Rack, and more for the best deals, we've compiled a list of the 15 best Hokas worth snatching up while they're on rare sale up to 40 percent off. We found shopper favorites like the Clifton 9 Road-running Shoes, as well as lesser-known hits like the Ora Recovery Mules, with prices starting as low as $63, so there should be a deal for everybody hidden in the mix. Now sitting at its lowest price in the past month, the Hoka Men's Challenger 7 Sneakers are a steal for under $100—and they've even earned an APMA Seal of Acceptance, so you can rest assured they're podiatrist approved. These simple running sneakers are designed with mesh uppers in combination with cushy foam insoles that boost your height without sacrificing stability. The outsoles provide optimal grip on a wide range of terrain thanks to durable lugs, and you'll find them especially well-suited for the trails with rubber treads that add exceptional traction. After a long day of sightseeing, these recovery slides will be a game-changer for your travels. So, you'll want to snag a pair of the unisex mules while they're on sale for 22 percent off at Zappos during the Fourth of July. Constructed entirely of squishy EVA material, these comfy slip-on shoes are guaranteed to feel like walking on air, and they're a great travel day shoe since you can slide them on and off with ease. The wider footbed design is great for feet of all widths; plus, they're designed with holes across the uppers to facilitate proper air flow, so you don't get too warm in the summer heat. Ultra-light and breathable, these simple running shoes are built for speed—and they're great for travelers looking for less cushioning than standard Hoka models. Mesh uppers are ideal during the summer to maintain proper ventilation, while rubber toe caps add an extra layer of protection to your feet. They're designed to be easily slipped on and off in a hurry, plus the Vibram outsoles are grippy regardless of the terrain. At $148, they're the lowest price they've been in the past month, but sizes are limited, so you'll want to act fast. At 35 percent off in nearly a full range of sizes, the simple white exterior and light cushioning make them a great everyday pick for running, walking tours, and beyond. These sneakers are intended for both hiking and trail running. They're also well-made and will enhance your stability with a built-in Pebax plate for speed and bounce. The Hoka Men's Clifton 9 Road-running Shoes are crafted with the highly-padded design the brand has become known for, making them exceptionally comfortable for travel days, sightseeing expeditions, and everything in between. The top-rated shoes just went on sale for $117 at REI in standard sizes, and their breathable mesh uppers and foam insoles are just the tip of the iceberg. Rockers built into the insoles make each step easier than ever, and, while they may be made for running, they're excellent walking shoes, as well. If you're drawn to high cushioning and support, these are the sneakers for you. Designed to be lighter and offer more traction than previous models, the Hoka Women's Challenger 7 Trail-running Shoes are a must-shop now that they're on sale for $117 at REI. The super-cushy insoles will make running over rocks and rough terrain as easy as stepping on air, while the rubber outsoles offer the necessary grip to feel safe and secure without slipping. In fact, the outsoles are designed in the likeness of gravel tires to ensure your safety on uneven ground, and they're incredibly light at less than one pound. They may be sold out in wide sizes, but they are available in nearly every standard size from 5 to 12 (including half sizes). These neutral-colored slip-on shoes stand apart from other offerings in the Hoka collection thanks to one fresh feature: bungee laces. These allow you to slide the shoes on and off quickly without being forced to tie your laces, so if you're on the hunt for a new pair of airport footwear, you're in luck. These sneakers are designed specifically for walking, and they feature thoughtful highlights including grippy Vibram outsoles, and a sleek, water-repellent exterior. The best part? This Hoka Style Is The Best One For Walking
Over the past few years, Hoka has rightfully earned a spot in the conversation about the best brand for comfortable walking shoes. Known for their plush, 'cloudlike' cushion, Hoka models like the Clifton 9 have been previously declared hypeworthy by HuffPost shopping writer Lourdes Avila Uribe. But the Cliftons aren't the only shoes worth buying from the brand — in fact, my favorite model as a Hoka fan is one that tends to fly a little under the radar. And at $125 a pair, they're one of the cheapest Hoka sneakers available. First introduced in 2022, the Hoka Solimar is officially my favorite walking shoe — and that's coming from someone who loves Hokas so much, I once asked for a pair for my birthday. The Solimar has a balanced midsole that's forgiving, but still firm. The extended crash pad absorbs enough impact that I don't feel like I'm on a trampoline every time I take a walk (definitely a feeling I got wearing my old beloved Rincon 3s, which are now discontinued). I also appreciate the Solimar's stack height and thinner design. The support is evident, but the shoes don't look as bulbous from the top as some of the other Hoka models I've tried on before like the Bondi 8, whose cushioning flares out on the sides a bit. It gives the Solimars a sleeker appearance, and combined with their light, 6.7-ounce weight, they don't feel heavy on my feet. In the neutral white colorway I chose, they don't scream 'exercise shoe,' and don't look out of place paired with a dress or office-appropriate outfit. The soles are a durable, high-abrasion rubber that can last through daily use and are extra-padded in areas more likely to endure wear. The uppers are made of a breathable, recycled mesh, and the collar and tongue have padding that feels soft without rubbing uncomfortably against my ankles. I've put these to the test by taking them out for over 10,000-step walks on a pretty regular basis. They've served me well as a Manhattanite, from trekking hundreds of city blocks to even trudging up a hill's worth of old, rough stairs during a day trip to Governors Island. I've never had any soreness or foot pain during or after, which has helped me be more willing and motivated to get my steps in. While the Solimar is technically designed for running and training, according to Hoka, reviewers seem to agree that it's best suited for everyday wear including walking, and is great for people with plantar fasciitis. Some have purchased multiple pairs — and I'm pretty much certain that when I wear mine through, I'll be buying a second pair, too. Read on for some happy reviews left by Solimar devotees, and be prepared to want to snag a pair for yourself. Get the women's shoe from Zappos, Nordstrom, or Hoka for $125 (available in women's sizes 5–11, including wide sizes, and up to 13 colors). Get a men's pair from Zappos or Hoka for $81.25+ (originally $125; available in men's sizes 7–14, including wide sizes, and up to 11 colors).
