Upstate city investigates recent string of car break-ins

CLINTON, S.C. (WSPA) – Police in one Upstate city are warning residents to lock their cars after a string of vehicle break-ins. The Clinton Police Department said there have been vehicle break-ins throughout the Clinton area. Surveillance video shared by the police department show suspects checking for unlocked vehicle doors. Police said the suspects have been stealing guns and other personal belongings from unlocked cars. 'We are increasing patrols in an effort to locate and apprehend those responsible,' said Michael Addison, chief of police for Clinton. 'We're also asking for the community's help in identifying the suspects and urge all residents to participate in the 9 p.m. routine.' According to the department, the 9 p.m. routine is an initiative to get residents to take steps to prevent crime. The steps include locking vehicles, homes, garages, windows, gates, and sheds, activating exterior lights, security cameras, and alarm systems, and removing valuables from cars, patios, and yards. CLINTON, Ill. (WCIA) — Officers with the Clinton Police Department responded to Clinton Square Friday night after a woman was hit by a car. Police said the incident happened around 9:50 p.m. At the time, the Square was barricaded and closed to traffic for the Chamber of Commerce's MayDays Festival. UPDATE: Two dead after vehicle vs. semi-truck crash on I-57 in Neoga The victim was brought to a local hospital but is expected to be okay. On Saturday, Clinton Police arrested 28-year-old Damian Multine of Phoenix, AZ for leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury. This is a class four felony. Multine was processed at the Dewitt County Jail and released on a Notice to Appear in court per the Illinois Safe-T Act. The Clinton Police Department said on Facebook that as part of 'speculation/rumor control' there is no correlation between Multine and the MayDays Carnival/Festival. They added that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in court. Clinton PD announces new program using license plate readers

CLINTON, Conn. (WTNH) — The Clinton Police Department announced Thursday the launch of a new public safety program and the use of license plate readers in multiple locations around town. The program, called 'Clinton Safe' will provide citizens access to information and updates to the license plate readers across town. The readers will be able to capture still images of vehicles and license plates to aid officers with investigations. Speed cameras could be coming to Milford The department partnered with technology company Flock Safety for this program. Businesses and residents will be able to participate in the 'Clinton Safe' program by allowing police to use security feeds or personal cameras. Brandon man gets 14 years for store robberies

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Brandon man was sentenced to 14 years in prison for brandishing a firearm during two convenience store robberies. According to court documents, Tramaine Jadell Pettaway, 36, used a firearm to commit two convenience store robberies along with another individual in January and February of 2018. One store was in Clinton and the other was in Ridgeland. Capitol police investigate after 1 shot on Winter Street Ridgeland police arrested both Pettaway and his co-defendant after a short chase following the Ridgeland convenience store robbery in February 2018. Pettaway and his co-defendant have been in custody since February 2018. Pettaway pled guilty to two counts of violating Title 18, United States Code, Section 924(c)(1) which makes it illegal for anyone to use a firearm during a robbery. Man accused of selling fentanyl in fatal incident at Wild Rose Casino in 2023

A man is being held in the Clinton County Jail after police say he sold fentanyl pills to someone who later died from the drug, along with another person. Clinton Police began an investigation into the death of Scott Kenneth Brown, 43 and Stephanie Kaye Banker, 36, on November 8, 2023, following a welfare check at Wild Rose Casino in Clinton. As a result of the investigation, officers learned that Jeremy Tyshawn Shine sold pills to Scott Brown, which has been identified as a contributing factor in the deaths of Brown and Banker. Clinton Police obtained an arrest warrant for Shine for violating Iowa Code 124.401(1)(c) (10), possession with intent to deliver fentanyl less than 5 grams, a class C felony. A class C felony is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine between $1,370-$13,660. Shine was arrested on March 8 by the Clinton Police Department and is being held in the Clinton County Jail on a $100,500 cash-only bond while he awaits an initial court appearance.
