Police update on serious incident which has left one in hospital
Police are investigating reports a car deliberately drove at a man, leaving him needing hospital treatment.
Emergency services were called to Breightmet just before midnight to Goldrill Avenue.
The area was cordoned off until later this morning.
Police confirmed they have made an arrest
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "We are investigating a serious assault on Goldrill Avenue which occurred shortly before 11.50pm last night (Friday 20 June 2025).
"It was reported that a car deliberately drove at the victim, causing an injury to his leg. He remains in hospital.
"A couple of vehicles parked in the area have also been damaged during the incident.
"A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of S18 assault and remains in our custody.
"Enquiries are ongoing."

One resident said: "I saw the police here at two in the morning, and I was woken up, but I've no clue what has gone on to be honest."
Cllr Adele Warren for the ward said she would be visiting residents in the area today following the incident.
