Tranmere sign Northampton defender Brough
Tranmere Rovers have signed Northampton Town defender Patrick Brough on a two-year 29-year-old joins the League Two club having made 46 appearances in two seasons with the Cobblers, where his contract was due to end later this Andy Crosby told the club website, external: "When I reviewed our performance from the end of the 2024-25 season, I felt we needed to add certain qualities to our group."We were lacking in physical power, aerial ability and athleticism. McGowan & Pinnock exit Cobblers after rejecting deals

Testimonial planned for Northampton Town 'legend' Hoskins
A "club legend" will be rewarded with a special testimonial match after 10 years of commitment to a League One Town announced that it will welcome Birmingham City to Sixfields Stadium in a pre-season friendly on 26 July, in a fixture that will celebrate Sam Hoskins' decade with the attacking midfielder signed on a free transfer from Yeovil Town in August 2015 and is now the third-highest appearance maker in Northampton's 128-year 32, who is also fourth on the club's all-time top goalscorers' table, said he was "really grateful" to the newly-promoted Blues for agreeing to be the opposition for the match. Hoskins, who is under contract with the Cobblers until 2026, said: "There should be a lot of excitement around the game. It is being played the week before the season starts and just before Birmingham return to the Championship of course, so we are looking forward to seeing a good crowd at Sixfields."Northampton manager Kevin Nolan said: "It will be a game where our focus will be on the preparations for the season, but it will also give us a chance to pay tribute and recognise Sam for his dedication, service and commitment for the club and we hope Cobblers fans will turn out in numbers to show their appreciation for a true club legend."The club said the fixture will kick-off at 15:00 BST, but added that ticket details would be communicated "in due course".It added that the game with Birmingham City would be "the first in a number of events to take place throughout the 2025-26 campaign as part of the Sam Hoskins testimonial season". Northampton sign Forest midfielder Perkins
Northampton Town have signed Nottingham Forest midfielder Jack Perkins for an undisclosed 21-year-old has made six EFL Trophy appearances for Forest and been a regular in their Premier League 2 has agreed a two-year deal at Sixfields and is Northampton's first summer signing after securing their League One status for a third successive season."We are well aware of what he is capable of and we had him training with us for a week before the season ended so we could get a really close look at him," said Cobblers boss Kevin Nolan."You could see how well he fitted in with the group. Skipper Guthrie extends stay at Northampton
Northampton Town captain Jon Guthrie has signed a new deal keeping him at the League One club until at least the end of the 2025-26 32, has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the option of a further central defender joined the Cobblers in 2021 from Scottish club Livingstone and was given the captain's armband the following year by then manager Jon is currently recovering from anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered during Northampton's 0-0 draw against Stevenage on New Year's Day."We wouldn't have awarded the contract if we didn't feel he could come back and have an impact next season and we are all working very hard to get Jon back, fit and ready to go as soon as possible," Cobblers boss Kevin Nolan said."Jon is a leader in the group, he helps to set the tone and drives the standards you need."He is an excellent professional, a top character and you can't have too many of those in your dressing room."Guthrie has made 156 appearances in all competitions for Northampton, scoring 15 goals.
