Jenna Ortega Makes a Fur Coat Look Exquisitely Goth in Sydney

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." Maybe it's just the blistering heat, but I find myself impatiently counting down the days until fall—and as we enter that transitional time of the year, nothing gets me more excited for the impending crisp weather quite like spooky movies or TV shows. Enter Wednesday. Fittingly, the first half of season two premiered earlier this month, and in the wake of its release, the cast has continued to promote the show with a fashion-filled global Doom Tour, leading up to the part two release on September 3. To wrap up the tour, the Wednesday crew traveled to Cockatoo Island in Sydney, Australia, this week, where star Jenna Ortega treated us to yet another winning press look styled by Enrique Melendez. Although Ortega continues to stick true to the Wednesday Addams aesthetic, her latest fit felt like a nod to another Addams family member—Cousin Itt—all thanks to her coat covered in long fur. The hirsute outerwear stemmed from the Valentino Resort 2026 collection, which was designed by Alessandro Michele, who recently took the post of creative director at the Italian luxury fashion house. Luckily for Ortega, it's been a lot cooler down under, and she looked all bundled up in her cropped coat, which featured thick, jet-black fur forming the base, with strands of white hair decorating the trim like icicles. (In case you haven't noticed, hair has been a recurring motif in Ortega's fashion these past few weeks.) In keeping with the gothic tones, Ortega layered the coat over a strappy black leather top and matching midi skirt. She completed her ensemble with gloves and the same lace-up leather boots from Miista that she wore to the New York City premiere of her show's latest season last week. I mean, if the wedge heel ain't broke, why change it? All throughout the promo for Wednesday season two, we've seen Ortega continue to push the boundaries of her fashion, and while we love to watch her mystery series, her red-carpet style has proven to be just as thrilling. Thank goodness the show's already been renewed for season three. It's Showtime! Jenna Ortega Tries a Twist on Beetlejuice Stripes

The world promotional tour for Netflix's second season of Wednesday has seen Jenna Ortega and stylist Enrique Melendez delight in a suite of gothic, glamorous fashion: a sea witchy Vivienne Westwood corset dress, a ruffled, backless black Ann Demeulemeester slip dress, super sharp tailoring via Willy Chavarria, and a a reptilian skin-like Ashi Studio gown, to name a few. Heading all the way to Australia, there was still plenty to pull from: and the goth life stops for nothing and no one—case in point, Ortega's paddle in the surf at Bondi Beach in a Matrix-esque leather trench, combat boots in hand. Her latest look is less Wednesday Addams, more Beetlejuice (Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!). Photographed at a fan event on Cockatoo Island in Sydney, Australia, Ortega wore a leather, pumpkin orange and black striped Fendi dress.

Netflix turns Cockatoo Island into ‘Wednesday Island' for fan event led by Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton

Sydney's iconic Cockatoo Island underwent a makeover on Saturday night when the cast and creatives of the Netflix hit, Wednesday, took over the historic landmark – and there were no 'normies' allowed. The former convict shipyard was renamed Wednesday Island to celebrate the release of the smash-hit series' second season, with its stars Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Gwendoline Christie and Hunter Doohan delighting diehard fans who dressed up as their favourite 'outcast' for the occasion. With a five-metre high pyre set ablaze and various interactive fan spaces to experience, Ortega – who plays titular character Wednesday Addams – walked the purple carpet to a chorus of screams. 'People tell you about the numbers of people that are watching the show and doing whatever, but it's not until you see it first-hand that it really kind of sinks in,' Ortega told at the event. Since Wednesday 's Season 2: Part 1 release on August 6, Netflix has already recorded a staggering 50 million views – and viewership is only set to soar with the release of Season 2: Part 2 on September 3. 'This is such a lovely turnout,' Hunter Doohan, who portrays Tyler Galpin, Wednesday's love interest – who turns out to be a monstrous creature, told from the purple carpet. 'I haven't been back in Australia for almost 10 years. My dad's entire family is from Australia, and so it's kind of surreal to come back and (have) this be the way I'm doing it.' A major plot twist to Season 2 was revealed at a prior Sydney press conference during which it was announced Gwendoline Christie is back from the dead as Nevermore Headmistress Larissa Weems. Like Ortega and Doohan, the British actor said she was also in awe of the fandom the show has created not just in Australia, but across the globe – and she credits director Tim Burton for this impact. 'I think it's just extraordinary. I mean, the global impact of this show is continuing to echo and reverberate around the world,' she told 'I just adore Tim. I wanted to work with Tim my entire life. There is absolutely no one else on earth like him. 'I adore his filmmaking sensibility. He's a masterful filmmaker and it's always extremely elegant and entirely original. 'But I love the tender vulnerability and humour that runs throughout all of his work. There's never been anyone ever like him.' The evening marked the conclusion of the Global Doom Tour, with Sydney its last stop after the cast and creatives visited England, Poland, Italy, France, Romania, the US, Canada and South Korea. And no one is more surprised than Burton at how embraced the series is around the world. 'You make something and you hope that anybody likes it,' the Oscar-nominated director told 'Honestly, that's the main thing. I just know that that's the most beautiful thing, is that when you make something and it connects to somebody.' Myers, who plays Wednesday's bubbly best friend on the show, said she enjoys making the series as much as people enjoy watching it. 'I just find it fun. I think you don't have to think too much to watch it. It's just enjoyable,' she said at the event. 'We have a lot of fun making it, and I'm glad that a lot of people have fun watching it.'

Jenna Ortega Trades Beach Goth for Boho (But Still Goth)

Ortega added more dimension to her gothic sartorial universe for a so-called 'Outcast Assembly' on Cockatoo Island, alongside castmates Emma Meyers and Gwendoline Christie, and executive producer Tim Burton. Over a black midi dress embellished with lace, she wore an enormous, black and white faux fur coat from Valentino's resort 2026 collection. But Ortega traded in Alessandro Michele's green lace tights and leather beret for something a bit more…Wednesday. Jenna Ortega at the Wednesday premiere in resort 2026 Photo: Courtesy of Valentino En route to Cockatoo Island, she toted a black Valentino Garavani Panthea, a leather patchwork bag with chunky gold chain handles and a silver stud-embellished shoulder strap. She also rewore a pair of knee-high lace-up Miista boots (which she donned for a Wednesday screening in New York earlier this month) outfitted with a square toe and angular wedge heel. (Perhaps her greatest accessory of all? The pair of wired headphones that nearly got lost in the jumble of faux fur.) While she's offered us no shortage of Wednesday Addams-inspired looks, dressed in an eclectic mix of lace, faux fur, and statement boots, Jenna Ortega could just as easily play the part of Penny Lane's goth cousin.

Wednesday stars including Jenna Ortega share MAJOR spoiler for part two of the hit Netflix series at fan event in Sydney

The cast of the Netflix hit series Wednesday dropped a major spoiler for the upcoming part two of the second season, while on a promotional visit to Sydney. Jenna Ortega was joined by her co-star Emma Myers for the event, held on Sydney's Cockatoo Island. Also on hand was Hollywood director Tim Burton, who also serves as executive producer for the cult series. But the heart-stopping moment came when Gwendoline Christie emerged from behind a moon backdrop. Gwendoline announced to the shocked crowd that her villain character, Nevermore Academy headmistress Larissa Weems, would be back from the dead in the second part of season two. 'Did you really think Nevermore would let me go so easily! I was never gone. You just stopped looking,' Gwendoline told the audience while in character. Meanwhile, Jenna, 22, wowed onlookers in a daring ensemble which featured a hairy black and white overcoat, a matching shirt, and lace-up high boots. Sporting her signature 'Goth' look for the event, held on Cockatoo Island, Jenna wore her long dark locks out in a 'messy' chic style. 'It's such an honour,' Jenna said about the role, which has brought her global attention. 'Oftentimes, you don't get to revisit your character, so to be able to do it with someone like Wednesday. I feel very, very lucky.' During the promotional event, Burton, 66, revealed how closely he identified with the character of Wednesday, who has her origins in The Addams Family cartoons from the 1930s. 'I love the character,' the director of Beetlejuice and Ed Wood said. 'I agree with everything she says, everything she feels about family, school, psychiatry and society, so that's why we're here in this beautiful place. It's something I really identify with.' Also at the launch were Wednesday's creators and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Wednesday dropped on Netflix with four episodes on August 6, while part II of the series will premiere on September 3. It comes after Jenna was living up to her Gothic character as she went for a quick wade at Bondi Beach on Wednesday. The star, who flew into Sydney this week, stopped by the iconic seaside location on Wednesday and couldn't resist a dip. Dropping by in between promotional duties for the hit Netflix series, Jenna was clad head-to-toe in black leather - but that didn't stop her from experiencing the ocean. Jenna slipped off her boots but kept on her long, leather trench coat and her sunglasses on as she took advantage of the sunny weather and soaked her feet. The Hollywood actress is Down Under for the opening of a fan festival in Sydney. The first four episodes of Wednesday's second season debuted to critical acclaim at the beginning of the month. The show, a spin-off from hit comic series The Addams Family, made headlines in 2022 after its first season nabbed the number one most popular English-language TV title ever on Netflix, according to Variety. The second season is predicted to achieve similar success after it amassed over 50 million views in its first five days of streaming on the platform. It has been announced that not only will Wednesday be back for a third series, but a spin-off show is currently under discussion, according to Hollywood Reporter.
