The Brief A toddler was shot in the pelvis on May 13, outside Cocoa Meat & Produce, where three men opened fire on a 17-year-old who was with the child and her mother. Two suspects have been arrested in the case. A third suspect, Lynnard Semaj Woods, 19, remains at large, and investigators are still working to determine the motive. COCOA, Fla. - Brevard County deputies continue to search for a third suspect in the shooting of a toddler. Wanted Suspect At-Large Lynnard Semaj Woods, 19, is wanted for a shooting earlier this month in Cocoa. The child was sitting in a stroller when three people hopped out of a car and engaged in a shootout, injuring the little girl. Two others have already been arrested. The backstory The shooting happened on May 13 outside the Cocoa Meat & Produce on South Burnett Road in West Cocoa, officials said. Three people in a black Mercedes and a man and woman pushing a stroller with a toddler in it began shooting at each other in a "gunfight," Sheriff Ivey said. The fight was apparently over some ongoing feud between the groups. The baby was shot in the pelvis and is expected to survive. The 17-year-old boy who was walking with the woman and baby was arrested on a charge of possession of a firearm. A 32-year-old man was also arrested on a number of charges related to the incident. What they're saying Authorities are looking for one more person. "It takes a community to protect a community, and Brevard County is the best there is at doing it, so let's serve up a little Brevard County Justice and put Woods where he belongs, behind bars at Ivey's Iron Bar Lodge," Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said. 2-year-old shot in stroller as gunfight erupts outside store, Florida cops say
A 2-year-old tucked in a baby stroller was shot when a four-way gunfight erupted outside a busy Florida store, according to investigators. It happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Cocoa Meat & Produce in West Cocoa and investigators have yet to determine a motive, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office said in a video posted on Facebook. Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey says at least four people were involved in the shootout, which began when three men confronted a male and female as they exited the store with a toddler. 'We're not exactly sure at this point who fired first,' Ivey said. 'But as the shooting started to take place, over 50 rounds were fired. Right at 50 round from all different directions. One of those rounds struck the 2-year-old female baby in the pelvic area.' The child is hospitalized in stable condition, he said. Details of her relationship to the male and female at the store have not been released. The three men who confronted the couple escaped. They were seen traveling in a black Mercedes, officials said. Investigators have yet to learn what prompted the gunfire, but the four shooters are believed to be involved in 'some type of ongoing feud.' 'Right now we have the male subject that came out of the store ... in our custody ... We are looking for other three subjects,' Ivey said. 'All four of them are shooting back and fourth at each other, not only putting the baby at risk but others that are in the area around. The parking lot was packed at the time and these individuals are out here acting like clowns, shooting at each other.'
