Lynchburg City Council proposes increasing ambulance service rates
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – A new proposal by the Lynchburg City Council that, if adopted, will increase rates for ambulance and other related services starting in July of 2025.
A public hearing is scheduled for June 10 during a regular City Council meeting to discuss new ambulance service rates as proposed by a third-party billing vendor for the Lynchburg Fire Department, at the request of the council.
City County officials said there have been no rate changes of this kind since 2018 and would align charges with the 150% Medicare rate method, which is currently the standard industry practice for the region.

Additionally, there would be a per-mile charge increase of $1.73, from $12.00 to $13.73.
There would be no changes to oxygen supply and non-transport fee charges.
