Michael Voss calls for AFL rule to remain after teen ace chooses Carlton over Richmond

Carlton coach Michael Voss has called for the AFL to keep the father-son rule in the draft after future talent Cody Walker nominated the Blues a year before he is eligible to be drafted. Carlton have endured a tough year sitting 20 points out of finals contention with just a handful of games to go. Voss is under plenty of pressure at the club with the team's performances dipping this season. While the season has been tough on the fans, there was some excitement with Walker informing the club he intends to join them in the 2026 draft. This is a huge win for the club with Walker's father, Andrew, playing 202 games for Carlton between 2004 and 2016. Walker is considered a future star of the competition having starred for Vic Country in this year's national championships. This only further cemented his case as a potential No.1 pick next year. Walker is also eligible to join Richmond as part of their Next Generation Academy due to his Indigenous heritage, but appears to have chosen Carlton where his dad played. And while Walker was free to choose Carlton, Voss feels the divisive father-son rule should remain as part of the sport. Walker will now join Ben and Lucas Camporeale, the sons of Scott, on Carlton's list for 2027 making it three father-son players. "The father-son rule should stay with how it currently sits," Voss said ahead of their game against Melbourne on Saturday. "There's some things that we need to continue around the history of the game and the traditions of the game, and this is one of them. "I'd understand if there's probably a further conversation around what academies look like in general. But when it comes to the father and sons, that's been a tradition that's stood the test of time, and should continue to do so. "Whether that evolves over time and what you ultimately end up paying for that, probably is a continued conversation, but where teams can get and clubs get access to their father-son, father-daughters, should always be made available." The rule has caused division in recent years with some clubs benefitting from it more than others. Arguably the best player in the game, Nick Daicos, was brought into Collingwood's roster in 2021 as part of father-son draft rule with his father Peter playing the for club. Collingwood have gone on to win a premiership with Daicos a huge part of the winning side. The Brisbane Lions have signed Will Ashcroft, Levi Ashcroft and Jaspa Fletcher as part of the rule. However, teams who don't have the historical background of the traditional clubs are at a natural disadvantage. Fremantle being one of them. And Speaking on Thursday, Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick hit out at the rule. Fremantle CEO calls for change to father-son rule Speaking about the rule on SEN Radio, Garlick claimed the draft is meant to be an equaliser for the competition but has skewed the competition. When Kane Cornes asked him if he thinks the rule has a place in the game, he responded: "No, I don't. 'I think the draft is the most critical equalisation measure in the game. I understand that we're going to have some concessions that are provided with it. We want to encourage the game in the northern markets and we're supportive of that. We want to make sure we reach this people who might not necessarily play the game at a regular level.' He then doubled down on his view and claimed the rule doesn't have a place in the game. 'The father-son is just potluck,' he added. 'So from my perspective I just think when you've got players the like of the Ashcrofts, Sam Darcy - they're generational players and we're all working towards trying to win flags by building great cultures, attracting and retaining talent, and doing things on an even playing field. 'It's one that I don't see as having a place in the contemporary game, albeit understanding it's lovely from a historical perspective and the culture of the game. I get that. But it just doesn't feel right to me.'

YT Jia Shares Weekly Investor Update: Actor Cody Walker to Speak Onsite and Reveal FX Product & Tech at the Global Initial Launch of the FX Super One MPV July 17

Four days away from the July 17th Global Initial Launch of the FX Super One & Super EAI F.A.C.E. & FF EAI Embodied AI Agent 6 x 4 Architecture. Cody Walker — from the Fast & Furious franchise and a globally respected automotive enthusiast — will be joining the FX team live on stage. The Company just signed another 700-unit B2B FX Super One deposit agreement, bringing the total number of binding deposit agreements for non-binding pre-orders for FX Super One to 4,800 units. LOS ANGELES, July 14, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Faraday Future Intelligent Electric Inc. (NASDAQ: FFAI) ("Faraday Future", "FF" or the "Company"), a California-based global shared intelligent electric mobility ecosystem company, today shared a weekly business update from YT Jia, Founder and Co-CEO of FF. "Hello and welcome to Issue 011 of our Weekly Update! We are now just four days away from the Global Initial Product Launch of the FX Super One! Have you seen our countdown posters over the past few days? What kind of revolutionary product and technology will FX unveil? We'll see in just four days! This week's progress, starting with S1 User Ecosystem: FX Super One's B2B business model has once again made strong progress, with an additional 700 Super One secured this week, bringing the total number of binding deposit agreements for non-binding pre-orders for FX Super One to 4,800 units. More importantly, we've expanded into new industries, further broadening our ecosystem reach. First, we signed a deposit agreement for the FX Super One with MetaMega Group (MMG), a premium family office services firm based in Southern California. Our 'end-to-end B2B2C' co-creation ecosystem model now officially enters a new industry. For those less familiar with family office services, this is a high-end service sector providing customized financial, tax, education, and lifestyle solutions for high-net-worth families. MMG brings together nearly 300 seasoned advisors in Orange County, California, and enjoys a large and established base of high-net-worth clients. These high-net-worth families are one of FX Super One's core user segment targets. The family office sector provides deep access to this circle, allowing us to efficiently convert trusted relationships into purchase decisions and speed up our ultra-light sales model where 'scenarios are the showroom, and trust is the channel.' Second, this week, we also signed a deposit agreement with The Alps. They are a leading global MCN agency and a key TikTok partner, managing a network of over 3,000 influencers and creators. This collaboration once again validates the strong recognition our FF and FX Co-Creation Ecosystem Online Direct Sales model is receiving from top-tier international institutions. Third, in the FX Par, we welcomed another B2B partner into our system: Space Auto, a premium auto dealer located in Beverly Hills, the ultimate symbol of American ultra luxury and style. Specializing in high-end vehicle sales, leasing, and consignment, Space Auto is deeply rooted in LA's core luxury circles and is set to launch a new flagship store in West Covina. This expansion could help us reach new market pockets across the greater Los Angeles and Orange County area. Together, we could co-create and share blue-ocean value. Now, with S5 Capital Markets and Finance: In line with the 'Stockholders First' principle I emphasized when taking office as Co-CEO, we've partnered with Stockperks, a global investor engagement platform serving public companies across the world. We launched an exclusive Stockholder Perks Program to show our appreciation for FFAI stockholders. This special offer includes valuable benefits such as a $3,500 voucher toward the purchase of the FX Super One. This move aims to maximize the eco-chemistry between our stockholders and user community. This week, we've also launched the 'One-Click Fast Reservation' access for the FX Super One. Once the product officially opens for B2C paid reservations at the July 17 launch event, users will be able to complete their purchase with just one click and secure priority delivery. Once again, we invite you to reserve your FX Super One and join us in co-creating and sharing the future. Super One, You are the One. Going to S2 and S3, Product and Technology: While driving full speed ahead on FX product and tech development, we're also continuing to advance the evolution of the FF 91. One exciting update is coming to the B-pillar AI system, which will soon include intuitive gesture control powered by AI — allowing users to open and close doors with simple hand gestures, completely touch-free. This feature is expected to roll out in the next OTA update. These interactive functions are also being developed with seamless integration in mind for future FX models, to bring the same intelligence and ease of use to our full vehicle lineup. We're also advancing a broad set of exterior gesture controls, with patent applications expected to be filed soon. Today, I received a heartfelt message from an old friend. After seeing our 'King of Red Carpet' countdown poster, he told us that even after all his years working in Hollywood, there still isn't a truly elegant, red carpet–worthy MPV for A-listers or industry premieres. But with the FX Super One, he feels we're finally filling that long-overlooked gap in the American market. Looking ahead to next week: The global livestream of our launch event will take place at 7:30 PM (PDT) on July 17. Here's an exclusive sneak peek: Cody Walker — from the Fast & Furious franchise and a globally respected automotive enthusiast — will be joining us live on stage. He's coming on board as an FX Developer Co-Creation Officer to lead a deep dive into the product and its groundbreaking technology. This represents a major evolution of FF's signature developer co-creation model, now supercharging FX. Our Developer Co-Creation Officers won't just help shape the product — they'll be deeply embedded throughout the launch, delivery, and sales journey, unlocking new value through true collaboration. A big thank you to all our partners who have come a long way with us. The Global Initial Launch of the FX Super One & Super EAI F.A.C.E. & FF EAI Embodied AI Agent 6 x 4 Architecture is just around the corner. We're ready — and we can't wait to see you at the sunset of Los Angeles on July 17. This is one moment you won't want to miss!" Footy star reveals his young son confronted rival who body-slammed him at halftime in one of the craziest acts the NRL has seen

Footy superstar Cody Walker has revealed his young son once confronted Lachlan Lewis over one of the NRL 's most bizarre and controversial moments. Back in 2021, Lewis escaped with just a fine after he opted to strangely body slam Canterbury playmaker Walker at half-time during his side's 32-24 defeat by the Bunnies in Round 18. The half-time buzzer had already gone and players were beginning to leave the pitch, when Lewis approached his opponent from behind, grabbed him and spun him into the ground. A brawl ensued, with Walker's team-mates flying in to back up their halfback. Several Canterbury players stood around looking perplexed at Lewis' antics, while Doggies coach Trent Barrett shook his head in disbelief as he watched on from the coaching box. But in another very funny and bizarre twist to the tale, Walker, 35, revealed on The Unfiltered Show that his young son had confronted Lewis in the team hotel after the match. 'The funny thing, after that, was we were all staying at the same hotel. Bulldogs, Souths, Parra, Warriors and Canberra,' Walker told the podcast. 'And my son, right... he's got no filter. He talks to anyone and he is a maniac. He actually questioned him [Lewis]. 'He goes: "Why'd you tackle my dad for?"' Walker, who was in hysterics, couldn't remember the full exchange but revealed that Lewis had approached him about it afterwards. 'He goes: "Your son actually came up and questioned me..."' Walker said, giggling with laughter. Walker and his partner Nellie have two sons together, Kian and Kade. 'It just sort of simmered the whole thing down, we just had a bit of a laugh about it,' he added. 'It was quite a funny experience when you think about it,' he added on the body slam. 'It sort of gave us an edge a bit because he got sin-binned after that and then we ran 'em over then.' 'It was strange.' At the time, Walker was reluctant to reveal what had been said between the pair, but when pressed again on their exchange on the podcast, he revealed their conversation was actually quite mundane. 'I'm not sure if you remember correctly but I made a bit of a break down the sideline to finish the half,' Walker said, recounting the moment. 'I sort of stepped back in and Will Hopoate tackled me and I think Lachlan Lewis was on top. 'Something happened, I can't remember. 'He grabbed me or touched me or something and I was just said: "Don't f***ing touch me!" 'It was when we were all getting off each other and I can't remember what happened. Then he just said: "What did you say?" Walker then repeated himself, before adding: 'Then he just grabs me! 'That was it. If you hear that story, it wasn't anything in particular. 'I held onto the ball,' he added laughing. 'I tried to grab him and I'm holding onto the ball, I don't know why I'm holding onto the ball.' At the age of 35, Walker is now one of the oldest players in the NRL, behind Daly Cherry-Evans and Mark Nicholls, and is showing no signs of slowing down. The Rabbitohs club legend began his professional NRL career with the Bunnies back in 2016 and has since gone on to return 100 tries over 220 games. Lewis, the nephew of NRL legend Wally Lewis, went on to play 43 times for the Bulldogs between 2018 and 2021 before being delisted by the club. His contract was torn up by the club after he had attempted to sell a sound speaker on eBay that was gifted to clubs by the NRL during COVID. No NRL clubs subsequently enquired on his availability, meaning Lewis is not made an appearance in the NRL since. Despite that, Lewis went viral back in 2022 after sharing a heartwarming clip of himself and his daughter Halli on his TikTok account.

Fast and Furious' Brian O'Conner to return in final film, Vin Diesel says

A Return To Form For Franchise's Final Film, Diesel Said Brain O'Conner, the cop-turned-outlaw played by the late Paul Walker, will return for the final Fast and Furious movie, franchise star Vin Diesel said Saturday at the Fuel Fast event in Los Angeles. In a short speech that's made the rounds on social media, Diesel said that, when asked by Universal Studios to lock in a release date of April 20, 2027, for the Fast and Furious finale, he responded with three conditions. One was a return to Los Angeles, the second was a return to the street racing that was the focus of the first film. 0:07 / 0:09 2026 Audi A6 Avant debuts to fight BMW 5 Series Touring Watch More 'The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O'Conner,' Diesel said, referring to his own character Dominic Toretto. 'That is what you are going to get in the finale.' Digital Effects And A Sibling Stand-In Could Make It Happen Walker starred opposite Diesel in the first six Fast and Furious movies before he was killed in a car crash on November 30, 2013. Filming of Furious 7 was already underway at that time, so things were changed to write O'Conner out of the franchise. That included a final scene in which Walker's brother Cody stepped in as O'Conner, with digital effects to make the switch less obvious. Cody Walker stood next to Diesel during the announcement, along with Tyrese Gibson, who plays Roman Pearce in the franchise. Diesel didn't elaborate on how the production team would accomplish his wish list, but digital effects to change an actor's appearance, including superimposing the likenesses of dead actors onto living ones, has only become more common since the release of Furious 7. So it's not difficult to imagine Brian O'Conner making his return this way. Photo by Tony Gough/Newspix/Getty Images A Long Road The upcoming movie will be the 11th in the main Fast and Furious storyline, not including the 2019 spinoff Hobbs & Shaw. Expected to be Called Fast X Part Two (as it picks up on the storyline from 2023's Fast X) its scheduled release date will be 26 years after the 2001 release of The Fast and the Furious. That's an impressive record for any movie franchise, and explains the eagerness to bring back Brian O'Conner for one last ride. About the Author Stephen Edelstein View Profile

Vin Diesel promises street racing and return of Paul Walker's character for 'Fast and Furious 11'

Actor Vin Diesel has officially confirmed that the final installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, tentatively titled Fast 11, is set to hit theatres in April 2027. Appearing at Fuel Fest, a car culture and motorsports event in Pomona, California, Diesel made a surprise appearance alongside franchise stars Tyrese Gibson and Cody Walker (brother of the late Paul Walker). According to Variety, Diesel, addressing an electrified crowd, dropped major hints about the future—and legacy—of the popular series that began in 2001. 'The studio said to me, 'Vin, can we please have the finale of 'Fast and Furious' [in] April 2027?'' Diesel shared. 'I said, 'Under three conditions.'' Those conditions? A return to the roots that made Fast a global phenomenon. 'First, is to bring the franchise back to Los Angeles. The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing. The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O'Conner,' Diesel said. Diesel's final condition—the reunion of Dominic Toretto and Brian O'Conner—is as tantalising as it is mysterious. Paul Walker, who played Brian, tragically died in a car accident in 2013 at the age of 40, midway through filming Furious 7. The filmmakers used CGI and his brothers as body doubles to complete the film, sending off Brian with an emotional, symbolic farewell. Whether Fast 11 will feature a fully digital version of Brian, previously unseen footage, or a brief tribute-style appearance remains unclear. However, Diesel's comment seems to confirm that Brian's presence—one way or another—will play a role in the franchise's swan song. Released in May 2023, Fast X brought in over $700 million globally, though it faced criticism for its bloated $340 million budget. Marketed as the first of a two-part saga, it ended on a cliffhanger with Jason Momoa's flamboyant villain Dante Reyes threatening Toretto and his crew. With such a large time gap between Fast X and Fast 11, it remains to be seen whether the upcoming film will continue from where Fast X left off or take a more standalone approach focused on legacy and nostalgia. Fans of the franchise's earlier films will no doubt be thrilled at the promise of returning to L.A. and the underground street racing roots that once defined The Fast and the Furious. Over the years, the franchise morphed into globe-trotting spy thrillers with flying cars and gravity-defying stunts. A shift back to asphalt and attitude may be just what fans—and the series—need.
