Jon Jones Takes Aim at Colby Covington With Harsh Words
Jon Jones Takes Aim at Colby Covington With Harsh Words originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Jon Jones has been on a bit of a heater lately. Whether he's traveling to Thailand, filming The Ultimate Fighter Russia, or sparking debate online with cryptic tweets and candid interviews, the UFC heavyweight king is very much back in the spotlight. While fans continue to wait and see whether he'll accept a title unification bout against Tom Aspinall, Jones hasn't exactly been quiet — especially when it comes to sharing his opinions on fellow fighters and industry drama. Advertisement In a recent episode of DeepCut with VicBlends, in a clip captured by Red Corner MMA, Jones was asked a pointed question: Who does he think is the most overrated fighter in the UFC? At first, he hesitated. But then came a quote that raised eyebrows everywhere. 'I could say his name, but it's really just because I don't like him. And saying his name gives him clout, which I also don't want to do. His initials are C.C., and he's a total douchebag.' Naturally, fans immediately zeroed in on Colby Covington as the likely target — and for good reason. The beef between Jones and Covington dates back well before the UFC. Both men wrestled at Iowa Central Community College, where they were briefly teammates — a sitcom pairing that never got picked up. Colby CovingtonGetty Images The two didn't exactly get along. Jones once called Covington a bad roommate, while Covington has repeatedly taken aim at Jones' drug test history and legal troubles. It's been less of a rivalry and more of a long-running reality show, with drama popping up every few seasons in interviews or online posts. Jon JonesGetty Images While Jones didn't officially say the name, the initials and the insult were enough. Most fans didn't need a second hint. Belal Muhammad brands Colby Covington a 'moron' for childish lunch prank ahead of UFC 315 showdown with Jack Della Maddalena
Belal Muhammad has branded Colby Covington a 'moron' for his childish prank at the UFC Performance Institute ahead of UFC 315. Controversial welterweight, Covington, filmed himself hiding pre-made food that Muhammad, who takes on Jack Della Maddalena for the title this weekend, was supposed to have during training. He said: 'We took Belal's food and we hid it in the back f***ing corner so he'll never be able to see it dude. 'Guys, we just saw Belal's food in here so we're going to hide it from him. Belal, your food is not going to be here when you come in. The camera man chipped in with: 'Nobody is finding that, nobody is going to find it.' Before Covington added: 'Sorry Belal, you're a f***ing bum. He ain't smart enough to look around that fridge, dumber than a box of rocks.' Colby hiding Belal's food at the PI 😳 #UFC315 — The Fight Bubble (@thefightbubble) May 6, 2025 During his UFC 315 media day press conference, Muhammad responded, saying: 'He hid my food? I'm not even in Las Vegas, that's how much of a moron he is. 'I don't know what he's doing. These guys are like YouTubers now. Kamaru's a podcaster, Colby's a YouTuber. They need to do a podcast together, "The Biggest Losers".' Muhammad's reference to Usman is concerning an altercation between the pair on a podcast recording that abruptly ended after 10 minutes. Neither man has specifically revealed what caused the scrap but former champion Usman said he and Muhammad would need security to separate them if they have to be in the same room again. For all the animosity heading his way from Covington and Usman, it is Maddalena who Muhammad needs to focus on. The brilliant Australian striker heads to Montreal as the underdog this weekend but is a dangerous one. Muhammad claimed the belt with a suffocating win over Leon Edwards and will now try to launch an era of dominance. The main event takes place this Saturday night at around 5am UK time and Mail Sport will be on hand with live updates throughout the card.

Ian Machado Garry: Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington are 'not fighters anymore'
Ian Machado Garry: Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington are 'not fighters anymore' Ian Machado Garry rules out Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington as top UFC welterweights. Machado Garry (15-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) takes on streaking contender Carlos Prates (21-6 MMA, 4-0 UFC) in Saturday's UFC on ESPN 66 (ESPN2, ESPN+) main event at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo. The brash Irishman sees a new crop of welterweight talent, and thinks the likes of former UFC champion Kamaru Usman (20-4 MMA, 15-3 UFC) and ex-interim champ Colby Covington (17-5 MMA, 12-5 UFC) are no longer in the picture anymore. "We're getting out with the old and in with the new," Garry told CBS Sports. "We're getting rid of these people that are just trying to stay relevant like Kamaru and Colby, just trying to maintain relevancy by just talking on podcasts and trying to slag off Paddy Pimblett. That's all they are now. They don't want to fight. They're not fighters anymore, they're done. "You've got people like Leon (Edwards), and I f*cking hate to say this but Gilbert (Burns), who just haven't had the best run lately, and you've got these young, hungry killers coming up. The likes of me, Prates, (Michael) Morales, Sean Brady, Shavkat (Rakhmonov), Jack (Della Maddalena), and you're just seeing what the welterweight division is turning into for the next decade because these guys, they're going to be around for a long time. They're all talented everywhere." After defending his UFC welterweight title five times, Usman has lost three straight to Leon Edwards twice, and most recently Khamzat Chimaev on short notice at UFC 294. Meanwhile, Covington has lost three of his past four, and is coming off a TKO stoppage to Joaquin Buckley in the UFC on ESPN 63 headliner this past December.

UFC 314 video: Paddy Pimblett, Colby Covington restrained in backstage altercation
UFC 314 almost had a bonus fight backstage at Kaseya Center in Miami. Fresh off his win over Michael Chandler and doing post-fight broadcast partner interviews, Paddy Pimblett engaged in a screaming match with Colby Covington. The altercation was caught on video by ESPN, during which both fighters threatened to slap the other. Covington called Pimblett a 'bum,' and Pimblett returned by calling Covington 'a maggot' and accusing him of putting on an act. 'He only does something when a camera is about,' Pimblett said on the post-fight show. 'I seen him at Power Slap the other week and walked past him. I was staring at him and he looked at the floor like this. Now, he knows there is a camera about. He walked past, so I just said to him, 'I'll go and slap you, but you'll go and ring the police like you did with (Jorge) Masvidal you little grass (snitch). '… Anyway, he ain't sh*t. He pays supermodels to stand with him, the f*cking bum. He's a nobody. He's on a three-fight losing streak. He's irrelevant. He's trying to use me now to stay relevant because he's a nobody. He's a bum. I'll beat Colby Covington for the laugh but I've got bigger fish to fry than that little mushroom.' Covington has yet to comment publicly on the altercation.
