Young people to showcase their talents in Colchester competition
Colchester's young stars are invited to take centre-stage in a talent competition.
Colchester Has Talent 2025 is inviting young people aged between eight and 16 to showcase their skills at the Lion Walk Shopping Centre.
Those who can sing, dance, perform magic, play music, tell jokes, or have a sporting skill can all take part.
This year's competition will take place in the Lion Walk Courtyard in Colchester city centre.
Heats will be held on Sunday, August 10 and Sunday, August 17 from 2pm to 5pm, culminating in the grand final on Saturday, September 13, also between 2pm and 5pm.
Colchester Has Talent entertains Colchester city centre in 2024 (Image: KAT Marketing) The winner of Colchester Has Talent 2025 will earn a spot performing at the city's Christmas light switch-on, alongside Father Christmas and other characters on Saturday, November 21.
Martin Leatherdale, centre manager at Lion Walk, said: "We're thrilled to bring Colchester Has Talent back for another spectacular year.
"We've seen amazing performers come through this competition and we're certain 2025 will raise the bar even higher."
Segun Lawal, who is part of the judging panel, added: "We've seen some incredible acts over the years.
"We can't wait to see what Colchester's talented young stars will bring this time around."

Contestants may be asked to submit an audition video (hosted via YouTube or Vimeo).
Entries must be received by 12pm on Friday, July 18.
Successful acts will be contacted by Friday, July 25.
Acts may feature solo or duet performances and must be no longer than two minutes.
