Loving's daughter, Izabella Loving, was found unresponsive after deputies with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office responded to a Cold Springs, Nev., home on the morning of April 3, PEOPLE previously reported, citing a press statement.
The girl, who was pronounced dead by emergency responders at the scene, was discovered in an upstairs bedroom lying next to a 'tiny mattress with no bed frame," according to a probable cause affidavit cited by KRNV.
Izabella showed many 'signs of trauma' on her face, hips, pelvis, arms and genitals, and had 10 injuries on her face including a black eye and a gash over her eye, the affidavit alleges, per the outlet.
Early in the investigation, the girl's father, Nicholas Loving, was arrested and charged with child abuse causing substantial bodily harm. It's unclear if he has entered a plea or retained an attorney to speak on his behalf.
On her last night alive, Nicholas took Izabella's temperature, which he said was 96 or 97 degrees, gave her a bath before putting her to bed in a 5-by-5-foot box with a lock on it, the affidavit alleges, KOLO-TV reported.
'Nicholas admitted that they would sometimes keep Izabella in a small, make-shift cubby in the girls room,' sometimes as punishment, the affidavit alleges, per KOLO-TV. The affidavit states the couple's other two daughters slept in a "nice, queen-sized bed."
At about midnight, one of the couple's other two daughters woke up the parents saying Izabella was throwing up, the affidavit alleges.

According to the affidavit, Andrea allegedly said at the time, 'I should go to jail for not helping her and Nick should go to jail for killing her," News4/Fox 11 reported.
Izabella's cause of death has yet to be officially determined, per the Reno Gazette-Journal and KRNV.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Washoe County DA Chris Hicks said: "While we cannot comment on an active prosecution, we remain firmly committed to securing full justice for Izabella Loving in the proceedings ahead.'
