Who are the walk on quarterbacks on LSU football's roster?

LSU football quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is locked into LSU's QB1 job. LSU expects to have one of college football's top passing attacks with Nussmeier leading the charge. It's always a plus for an offense when it knows who its starter is at QB. The offseason is spent on developing the offense rather than sorting out personnel. Down the depth chart, there are more questions. LSU signed transfer QB Michael Van Buren from Mississippi State. Van Buren started as a freshman at Mississippi State in 2024 and gives LSU another QB on the roster with SEC experience. The Tigers also return Colin Hurley, who took a redshirt in 2024 and missed spring practice recovering from an injury. Hurley is healthy again and has been with the team for the entirety of fall camp. LSU head coach Brian Kelly said Van Buren and Hurley have had their moments, but he wants to see more consistency. Also listed as a quarterback is Ju'Juan Jennings. But with LSU's running back depth being tested, Jennings might get more reps there. LSU has enough QBs on the roster to navigate the season, even with injuries, but let's check out who LSU has on the roster as a walk-on quarterback for the 2025 season. Emile Picarella, three-star, class of 2025 LSU didn't sign a scholarship quarterback in the class of 2025, so it bolstered the depth with the addition of Emile Picarella from University Lab High School in Baton Rouge. Picarella was a three-star and ranked as the No. 83 QB in the country, per the Rivals Industry Rankings. Picarella earned the attention of several SEC teams early in his recruitment and had chances to take a scholarship at a lesser program, but Picarella opted to play SEC football in his hometown. Tre People, three-star, class of 2025 People was another addition in the class of 2025, but LSU went all the way to California to find him. Per Rivals, People was the No. 2575-ranked player and No. 159-ranked quarterback. People had offers from UNLV and Portland State. He drew some Power Four looks at different points during his recruitment. This article originally appeared on LSU Wire: Two walk-on quarterbacks providing depth to LSU football QB room

LSU WR Nic Anderson injured in car crash

LSU transfer wide receiver Nic Anderson spent one night in a hospital this past weekend after he sustained unspecified injuries in a car crash, head coach Brian Kelly said, according to The Advocate. Anderson committed to LSU in December after he transferred from Oklahoma. He appeared in one game for the Sooners last season and did not have a catch, missing time with an undisclosed lower-body injury. As a freshman in 2023, Anderson had 38 receptions for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns over 13 games (six starts) for the Sooners. News of Anderson's involvement in an auto accident comes six months after Tigers quarterback Colin Hurley was seriously injured after a one-car crash near campus in January. Hurley has returned and participated in spring practice in April. "It wasn't quite as bad as Colin Hurley's, which was life-threatening, but enough that he had to get checked in and stayed overnight for observations," Kelly said of Anderson at SEC Media Days. "But he comes out of it really good." Anderson is expected to be available when LSU starts training camp. --Field Level Media Field Level Media 2025 - All Rights Reserved
