Man allegedly stabbed during altercation in apartment building car park

A manhunt is underway after a man was left critically wounded after he was allegedly stabbed at a block of units on the NSW Central Coast. Emergency services rushed to the apartments on Gertrude St in North Gosford following reports of a stabbing about 6.30am on Tuesday. Police found a 38-year-old man with stab wounds to his upper body in the basement. He was treated at the scene and rushed to hospital in a critical condition. Brisbane Water Police Chief Inspector Colin Lott said three residents who lived at the unit block were allegedly involved in an altercation at the building's car park. 'Other neighbours around the area came out to see what was happening, they saw the two persons of interest leaving the scene and the male victim was bleeding profusely,' he told reporters. 'The male was lying on the ground near the elevator of the unit block and there was a large amount of blood. 'There was also a blood trail of where he had run from as well.' Police are looking for a man of Pacific Islander or Maori appearance, he has a thin build and is aged in his mid-20s. They are also looking for a thin caucasian woman aged about 20. 'Anyone able to identify the man and woman, or with further information about the incident, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers,' a police spokesman said.

Man in critical condition following early morning stabbing as police begin manhunt for two people on Central Coast, NSW

A police hunt is underway for two people on the run after a man has been left fighting for his life due to a brutal stabbing on the NSW Central Coast. Chief Inspector Colin Lott confirmed the alleged incident occurred around 6am on Tuesday, after police received reports from concerned residents regarding an incident at a property on Gertrude Street, North Gosford. Upon arrival, police discovered a 38-year-old man with serious injuries in the basement of a unit block after he had been stabbed multiple times in the back and upper body. Emergency services treated the man at the scene before he was rushed to hospital in a critical condition. 'It's alleged two offenders, a male and a female were involved in an altercation with this male and they subsequently produced knives and stabbed the victim multiple times,' Inspector Lott said. He further confirmed police are now searching for a 19-year-old female and a 24-year-old male who are both Caucasian. The 38-year-old man and the offenders are known to each other. It is understood the pair fled the scene as paramedics arrived while neighbours witnessed them leaving. The Daily Telegraph reported a neighbour woke up to screaming and cries of "help" downstairs. The witness further revealed the man's dog had been stabbed as well. 'He was sitting at the bottom of the lift, his arm was bleeding, there was a lot of blood, we called the police and called the ambulance,' she said. ''They got me,' that's all he was saying. Everyone came running down and grabbed towels. 'He's been my neighbour for quite a few years, he's a nice man.' Inspector Lott described the crime scene as "pretty graphic", but confirmed there is no threat to the public. 'The male was laying on the ground near the elevator, near the lift of the unit block. There was a large amount of blood present and a blood trail from where he had run from... to the point of where he's collapsed," he said. 'We have our crime scene people on... and we have detectives following up on leads we currently have. 'It's our belief both parties were involved in the stabbing. 'We are aware of who we believe these parties to be and advise them to attend the local police station as soon as possible because we are out there looking with all our resources." The investigation remains ongoing.
