#SHOWBIZ: BTS' RM wins favourite K-pop artiste at 2025 American Music Awards
SEOUL: The leader of K-pop supergroup BTS, RM, has won the Favourite K-Pop Artiste Award at the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs). The award was presented during the ceremony, which took place at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas on Monday, as reported by Yonhap news agency. The Favourite K-Pop Artiste category was first introduced in 2022, with BTS taking home the inaugural trophy. Rose of BlackPink was nominated in the Collaboration Of The Year category for her song 'APT' with global pop icon Bruno Mars but did not win the award. The prize went to Mars and Lady Gaga for their collaboration, 'Die With A Smile'. Pop sensation Billie Eilish was the night's big winner, securing seven awards including Artiste Of The Year, Album Of The Year, and Song Of The Year for her latest release, 'Hit Me Hard And Soft'. First launched in 1974, the American Music Awards is one of the most influential pop music award shows in the US, alongside the Grammy Awards and Billboard Music Awards. The AMAs returned this year after a three-year hiatus. BTS had previously won awards at the ceremony for five consecutive years, from 2018 to 2022.

#SHOWBIZ: BlackPink's Rose heads to American Music Awards with two nominations
KUALA LUMPUR: BlackPink member Rose Park has secured two nominations for the upcoming American Music Awards (AMA) on the back of the global popularity of APT., the organisation's website said in a statement yesterday. According to Yonhap News Agency, Rose is nominated for Collaboration Of The Year with the song featuring pop star Bruno Mars, and for Favourite K-pop Artiste, competing against Ateez, BTS' Jimin and RM, and Stray Kids. Rose has continued her long run on the US Billboard Hot 100 with APT. which remains on the chart for a 26th consecutive week. Released in October, the track debuted at number eight and gradually declined before rebounding to a peak of number three earlier this year.
