The incident occurred shortly after 11.40pm on the R113, Fonthill Road South in Clondalkin A cyclist is in critical condition after being struck by a car in Dublin on Sunday. The incident occurred shortly after 11.40pm on the R113, Fonthill Road South in Clondalkin. The cyclist, an adult male in his late teens, is in Beaumont Hospital in a critical condition. No other injuries were reported. The road is closed for an examination of the scene to be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local traffic diversions are in place on Fonthill Road South, between the junctions with Cherrywood Avenue and St John's Road. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward. Road users who may have relevant camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí. Child dies and three people seriously injured in Donegal crash

A child has died and several people have been injured in a car crash in Co Donegal on Wednesday. Gardai said the child was a female passenger. The female driver of the car, a male front-seat passenger and a female child, who was a rear-seat passenger, are in a serious condition in Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry. The collision, involving a van and a car, took place on the R240 at Carrowmore in Glentogher, Carndonagh before 6.30pm on Wednesday. The road was closed overnight pending a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions were put in place. An appeal has been issued to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have footage of the incident to contact them. Those with information are advised to contact Buncrana Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

It's understood the man sustained a number of serious injuries including a broken leg after his motorcycle collided with a car close to a junction beside the local cemetery A motorcyclist in his 20s has undergone emergency surgery following a two vehicle crash on the outskirts of Longford town yesterday. A motorcyclist is in intensive care after undergoing emergency surgery in hospital following a two vehicle crash in Longford yesterday evening. He was rushed to Tullamore's Midland Regional Hospital before being transferred to Dublin's Mater Hospital in the wake of the incident which took place at Mullaghavorneen, close to Ballymacormack Cemetery at around 6pm. Emergency services attended to the scene a short time later and despite initial efforts to airlift the man to hospital, a decision was ultimately taken to transport him via ambulance. It's understood the man sustained a number of serious injuries including a broken leg after his motorcycle collided with a car close to a junction beside the local cemetery. He has since undergone emergency surgery and is currently in the Mater Hospital's intensive care unit. Sources had described the man's condition as being '50-50' last night, however the Irish Independent understands medics are hopeful those permutations will improve over the coming days. The Irish Independent understands the man's condition is being termed as 'critical but stable' as gardaí now press ahead with an investigation to determine the precise nature surrounding yesterday evening's incident. It's also understood the man, who is in his 20s, hails from the south Longford area. The road itself, the L1127, was closed for a number of hours last night and again today to allow for a technical examination to be carried out. 'Gardaí and emergency services responded to a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on a local road in Mullaghavorneen, Longford, shortly after 6pm on Monday, 21st April, 2025,' said a garda spokesperson. 'The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was (taken) from the scene with serious injuries to Tullamore Hospital. 'The L1127 at Mullaghavorneen is currently closed to allow for an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.'
