Man arrested after girlfriend's decomposing body found in his Limpopo home
A 33-year-old man was arrested in Seshego, Limpopo in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, after her decomposing body was found in his home on Tuesday night. 'Police were called to the scene at about 23:35, where they found the lifeless body of a 26-year-old woman inside the suspect's residence. The victim had sustained multiple injuries. Preliminary investigations suggest that she may have been killed several days earlier, as her body was already in an early stage of decomposition,' said police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba. The man is expected to appear in the Seshego Magistrate's Court on Friday on a murder charge. Provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, said the murder was 'deeply disturbing and senseless'. 'We urge communities to report any signs of domestic violence before they escalate to such tragic outcomes,' he added.

A 20-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly choking a 3-month-old baby to death. Police crack down on sophisticated cross-border smuggling network
Police have dismantled what is believed to be 'one of the most sophisticated cross-border smuggling networks', seizing suspected stolen goods worth more than R3 million. According to Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, during the early hours of Thursday, the Limpopo Anti-Smuggling Task Team intercepted a truck pulling trailers near the Polokwane weighbridge. The vehicle was en route from Cape Town to Malawi via the Beitbridge border post. Following an extensive 18-hour operation and thorough search, the joint team recovered various car and motorcycle parts. Among the parts were those of a Ford Ranger reported stolen in Nyanga last month and 60 disassembled motorcycles concealed in drums and containers, which were reported stolen from multiple Western Cape police stations, including Bellville, Mfuleni, Muizenberg, Nyanga, Milnerton, Sea Point, and Athlone. 'In addition, various electronic goods, including plasma TVs, sound systems, solar tower batteries, and cellphones, suspected to be stolen, were recovered. The Scania truck and trailers used in the smuggling operation were also seized as part of the investigation. The total value of recovered goods is over R3 million,' Ledwaba said. Four men, aged 37 to 50, were arrested and will appear in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of possession of suspected stolen goods. Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe said: 'This breakthrough represents a major victory against sophisticated criminal networks that have been exploiting our borders to traffic stolen goods. The collaboration between our Anti-Smuggling Task Team and private security partners demonstrates the power of coordinated law enforcement efforts. We will continue to target these criminal syndicates relentlessly until they are completely dismantled.'

Seven robberies, 3 rapes, 1 attempted murder: Limpopo attackers' 150-minute reign of terror
Police are searching for two people who terrorised residents of the Hoveni village in Limpopo. The pair committed a series of violent house robberies and rapes in the Maake policing area. Police are probing three separate incidents of rape and attempted murder. Limpopo police have launched an intensive manhunt for two people who, in less than three hours on Friday night and Saturday morning, allegedly robbed seven houses, raped three people and attempted to kill a man in Hoveni village. According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, their reign of terror started at 23:30 on Friday and ended at 02:00 on Saturday. Ledwaba said the crimes were committed in a coordinated and calculated series of attacks. 'The suspects, armed with firearms, forcibly entered homes by breaking down doors, demanding money and valuables from victims, and committing serious violent crimes, including multiple counts of rape involving minors,' Ledwaba said. Cash and cellphones were stolen. 'Three separate incidents of rape [occurred], including the sexual assault of minors aged 14 and 15, and [an] attempted murder, where a male victim was shot multiple times ...' Ledwaba said. The man has been hospitalised. There were also reports of serious assaults and multiple instances in which shots were fired. Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe expressed outrage. 'What we have witnessed in Hoveni village is an attack, not just on individual families, but on the safety and dignity of our entire community,' he said. 'I have directed our most experienced detectives to prioritise this case and ordered the deployment of additional specialised units to the area. These dangerous criminals will be found and they will face the full might of the law.' He added: 'Forensic teams have already recovered several pieces of evidence from the crime scenes, including empty cartridges. A specialised task team comprising detectives from the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit, Crime Intelligence, and Tactical Response Team has been established to investigate these cases.' 'The level of violence and depravity shown during this crime spree is deeply disturbing,' the commissioner said. 'These criminals showed complete disregard for human life and dignity, particularly targeting vulnerable women and children. We will not rest until they are behind bars,' she warned.
