Tralee GAA club Na Gaeil named as National Finalist in Lottery Good Causes Awards

First up is the much-anticipated return of Campa Samhraidh Peile, Na Gaeil's annual bilingual football camp. Set to take place from Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8, the week-long camp will run daily from 10am to 1pm at the club's grounds on Killeen Road. Open to children aged 4 to 13, the camp offers a unique opportunity to combine football with the Irish language in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. With a strong emphasis on fun and inclusion, the camp welcomes children of all skill levels and language backgrounds – even those with little or no Irish. Through games and activities, participants are encouraged to use the 'cúpla focal' and develop a love for the language alongside their sporting skills. In other club news, they were also proud to announce this year's recipient of its annual FSMD Gaeltacht scholarship: Luca Cronin. A dedicated young club member, Luca spent part of his summer attending a course at Coláiste Árainn Mhóir on the scenic island of Inis Mór, where he immersed himself in the language and culture of the Gaeltacht. The scholarship reflects the club's ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of Gaeilgeoirí through meaningful cultural experiences. Na Gaeil CLG congratulated Luca and said that it looks forward to supporting more young members in similar opportunities in the future. Finally, in a crowning achievement, Na Gaeil CLG has been named a National Finalist in the Irish Language Category of the 2025 National Lottery Good Causes Awards. The awards honour community organisations that are making a lasting difference across Ireland, and Na Gaeil's selection highlights its exceptional work in promoting Gaeilge. From Irish language football camps and conversational classes to community events and participation in Scór competitions, the club is one that continues to bring the Irish language into almost every aspect of its activities. The club finished up by saying that this national recognition is a proud moment for all involved in the club and a testament to its unwavering commitment to fostering community, culture, and inclusion through sport.
