Egypt excel with three taekwondo golds

PHOTO: APP Egypt dominated the fifth day of the Combaxx 7th Asian Taekwondo Open Championships, clinching three gold medals, while Pakistan put up an impressive performance, securing one silver and nine bronze medals in various weight categories. In the Men's -54kg category, Egypt's Abdo Refaat Mohamed claimed gold, with Afghanistan's Ihasam Rahimi and Pakistan's Muhammad Ghulam sharing bronze. Pakistan's Shahzaib Khan secured a well-fought silver medal in this division. The Men's -68kg category saw Iran's Dehghani Mohammad Sadegh winning gold, while Afghanistan's Zain Hikmatullah took silver. Pakistan's Anjum Hussain shared the bronze podium with Jordan's Othman Mohammad. In the Men's -87kg division, Egypt's Eissa Seif secured gold, while Saudi Arabia's Almabrouk Ali Mabrouk S took silver. Iran's Ghahremani Amir Mohammad and Uzbekistan's Bayhodjaev Nurlan won bronze medals. The Pakistani women also displayed remarkable skill. In the Women's -46kg category, Saudi Arabia's Alsharif Taiba Khalid clinched gold, while Portugal's Barroso Kiara secured silver. Pakistan's Momina Khan and Saima Mazhar added to the country's medal tally with bronze finishes. In the Women's -57kg category, Kenya's Muriu Mary took gold, with Pakistan's Rahman Noor earning silver. Pakistan's Mariam Fatima and Muneeba Alam secured bronze medals in this division. Meanwhile, in the Women's -73kg category, Egypt's Orabi Malak Diaa Ahmed emerged as the gold medalist, while Germany's Hoermann Emily claimed silver. Pakistan's Mubashra Sana and Pakeeza Khan added two more bronze medals to the nation's tally. On Pakistan's strong showing, Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) CEO Omar Saeed and President Col (R) Raja Waseem Ahmed congratulated the athletes, highlighting their dedication and perseverance.

Pak shines in Poomsae event with 16 gold medals
Pakistan's taekwondo athletes have delivered an outstanding performance in the Poomsae event of the Combaxx 7th Asian Taekwondo Open, concluding the category with a total of 16 gold medals - 8 on the opening day and 8 more on the second day. The national contingent also secured 7 silver and 14 bronze medals on day two, further solidifying Pakistan's dominance in the competition. With five days of action still remaining, the focus now shifts to the highly anticipated Kyorugi (sparring) events, where Pakistan aims to continue its impressive run. The championship, featuring top athletes from across Asia, will conclude on 20th February. Pakistan's athletes displayed exceptional skill and synchronization in clinching 16 gold medals in various team and individual events including Free Style Mixed Team Over 17 – Naqvi, Sial, Abbas, Iqbal, Maryam; Free Style Pair Over 17 – Nailah, Hamza; Free Style Individual Over 17 (Male) – Hamza Ameer; Free Style Individual Over 17 (Female) – Naqvi Zymal; Team Under 30 Male – Qadeer, Waheed, Deedar; Team Over 30 Male – Ahmed, Hussain, Mumtaz; Team Over 30 Female – Nisa, Sabir, Bashir; Team Under 30 Female – Sheraz, Batool, Maryam. Apart from the gold medals, Pak athletes fetched seven silver medals and 14 bronze medals. With the Poomsae events concluded, all eyes are now on the Kyorugi (sparring) competitions, where Pakistan will compete for more podium finishes.
