Comedy On Tap: Comedy Fest And Parrotdog Team Up For Lager And Laughter
New Zealand Comedy Trust and Parrotdog presents Comedy Fest At Parrotdog & The Official Comedy Fest Beer Parrotdog x Comedy Fest - LA U G H ER Lager 4.4% alc./vol. After a sell out show last year, the NZ International Comedy Festival with Best Foods Mayo is once again teaming up with the iconic Parrotdog Bar in Lyall Bay for Comedy Fest At Parrotdog, mashing together the beloved Sunday night drink with a tasty selection of comedians in a hilarious night of comedy like no other on Sunday 4 May. Headlining the night of non-stop laughter at Parrotdog Bary in Lyall Bay is Australia's comedy powerhouse Felicity Ward, star of The Office Australia. Known for her iconic screen roles, TV appearances and international multi-award winning stand-up comedy tours, Felicity's no-filter, authentic and hilarious attitude to life has made her a darling of critics and fans alike. Audiences may also recognise her from Taika Waititi's Time Bandits, Thank God You're Here, Have You Been Paying Attention? and Spicks and Specks. This is your only chance outside the Best Foods Comedy Gala to see her perform in Wellington. Joining her is Joe Daymond, fresh off the back of his national tour. Joe has built an online audience of over 350k and racked up millions of views. He's appeared on Celebrity Treasure Island and 7 Days, and created, wrote, directed, and starred BOUNCERS for Comedy Central UK. Rounding out the line-up is award-winning comedian, writer, podcaster, poet and actor, Johanna Cosgrove. Star of Madam and co-host of the cult hit podcast Rats in the Gutter, Johanna has been a full-time television writer on Shortland Street and in 2022 published her debut poetry collection Crying on the Phone. Not to mention at least year's Comedy Fest she was awarded Most Unhinged Show. Following the success of their partnership last year Comedy Fest and Parrotdog are again joining forces to bring together lager and laughter to make, well, a LA U G H ER. While they'll leave the jokes to the real comedians, audiences across the country will get to try out this special edition Parrotdog x Comedy Fest LA U G H ER at all participating festival venues. "We're so excited to partner with Parrotdog again to bring together two of life's greatest joys – comedy and beer! Comedy Fest at Parrotdog is quickly becoming a festival favourite, and with a killer line-up and the return of our very own LAUGHER lager, we know it's going to be another unforgettable night." — Lauren Whitney, Chief Executive, New Zealand Comedy Trust Hop down to Parrotdog for the perfect sunday evening of big laughs and cold brews. Kāpiti Get Ready – NZ Comedy Fest Is Back In Town For One Night Only This May
Back for the third year, the NZ International Comedy Festival with Best Foods Mayo returns to Kāpiti for the one night with a bite-sized comedy show packed with top-tier talent and guaranteed laughs. Don't miss the chance to catch some of Aotearoa's best comedians on the coast, with Comedy Fest at Kāpiti, on Saturday 10 May at Te Raukura ki Kāpiti. The evening will be hosted by one of Wellington's favourite comedians, MC and comedy producer Jerome Chandrahasen. A regular performer at the NZ Comedy Fest, he's performed at the Best Foods Comedy Gala, The Comedy Mixtape and performs and has taken his shows to the Edinburgh Fringe, NZ Fringe, and even a nice little pub in Kāpiti. One of NZ's great stand up comedians, the evening will feature award-winning comedian Justine Smith. Justine is much-loved from her stints on 7 Days and Taskmaster. She also hosted the Best Foods Comedy Gala in 2021, won the Billy T Award in 2003 and has won the NZ Comedy Guild's Best Female Comedian four times. 2024 Topp Prize winner James Nokise comes home to join the line-up. A multi-talented comedian, playwright, columnist, podcaster, theatre maker, and social commentator, James has been making audiences laugh for over twenty years. Known for his critically acclaimed RNZ podcast Eating Fried Chicken in the Shower, he's also taken out the Fred Award in 2019 and has performed across the globe. Joining them is Sera Devcich, a stand-up comedian known for her razor-sharp observations and no-nonsense approach. Drawing from real life, Sera delivers bold, relatable comedy with confidence and punch. She's performed at the Comedy Gala, appeared on 7 Days, and toured with some of Aotearoa's comedy legends, including Ben Hurley and Paul Ego. Also joining the lineup is Dan Boerman, originally from the Wairarapa he's now based in Scotland. Dan returns to Aotearoa following a packed-out debut at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe, where his observational, high-energy, and chaotic humour made a lasting impression. Most recently, he stopped traffic—literally—drawing hundreds to Wellington's Cuba Street with a live performance of him folding a fitted sheet. 'Kāpiti knows how to turn it on — every year the laughs get louder and the crowds get bigger! We're bringing a power-packed lineup for one unforgettable night of comedy on the coast. If you've ever needed an excuse for a great night out, this is it. Don't miss the chance to see some of the country's sharpest comedy minds in action!' says the Festival's Chief Executive, Lauren Whitney.
