Comins Lions win futsal tournament

's fine hat trick helped Comins Lions beat RR Panthers XI by 3-1 in the final and won the first Jackson Comins Veteran 5 A side futsal tournament held at Shastri Nagar ground here on Saturday evening.

Around forty former national football players showed their skills in this event which was played on the knock out basis. In the first match, RR Panthers drubbed DFA Leopards by 3-2 and in the second tie Comins Lions outplayed Jackson Tigers by 2-0.
In the final, Sudhir Kumar displayed fine footwork and scored a hat trick of goals which placed his team on the victory podium. He was later adjudged as best player of the tournament.
Chief guest Sanjeev Pathak, presented the winners' trophy to Comins Lions. Manoj Chaturvedi and local corporator Vinod Gupta welcomed Sanjeev Pathak and the municipal commissioner. Amitabh Gupta and Ajeet Singh secretary district football association proposed a vote of thanks.

According to Akhtar Ali member of the organising committee, the Epic Victory Cricket League is a professional cricket tournament designed to unearth and nurture cricketing talent. By providing a competitive stage for local players to compete with and learn from established professionals. The EVCL aims to build a strong foundation for the future of cricket in the region, he added.
International cricketer Praveen Kumar (league commissioner) and Vikas Dhaka (owner of EVCL) have released new dates for trials and in Kanpur trials would be held on August 2.

League commissioner Praveen Kumar, emphasised the league's broad scope. "EVCL will provide a vital platform not only for players from Uttar Pradesh but also for those from Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab."
The trials are open to male cricketers between the ages of 14 and 39 years. Participants will demonstrate their abilities in front of a selection committee, with the final selection being conducted by a panel of selectors from state cricket associations and the EVCL Apex Council.
The trials will be held in Gorakhpur (July 27), Varanasi (July 29), Prayagraj (July 31), Lucknow (August 5), Dehradun (August 13), Shamli (August 20), Meerut (August 27), Ghaziabad (August 30) and Agra (September 2).
