Amphenol nears $10-billion deal to buy CommScope's broadband connectivity and cable unit: Report
Connecticut-based Amphenol is nearing a deal to buy communication network infrastructure provider CommScope Holding 's connectivity and cable unit, in a deal valued at roughly $10 billion including debt, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter. The transaction could be completed as soon as Monday, assuming no last-minute snags, the newspaper reported. In May, Bloomberg News reported that North Carolina-based CommScope was exploring a sale of its broadband connectivity and cable solutions division, its largest unit by sales and operating income. CommScope's wireless network provides infrastructure for mobile networks , while its antenna systems unit provides services for cellular infrastructure inside venues, campuses and enterprises. Connecticut-based Amphenol struck a deal last year to buy CommScope's outdoor wireless network and its distributed antenna systems businesses for $2.1 billion in cash. Reuters could not immediately verify the report. Amphenol and CommScope Holding did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.

May 23 (Reuters) - CommScope Holding (COMM.O), opens new tab is exploring the sale of its broadband connectivity and cable solutions (CCS) division, Bloomberg News reported on Friday. The U.S.-based network infrastructure provider has spent years working to lower its debt in the wake of sizable acquisitions and economic challenges during the pandemic that stunted its growth. The company is aiming to secure as much as $10 billion for its CCS division and has reached out to private equity firms and industry players, the report said, citing people with knowledge of the matter. CommScope did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. It is also working with an adviser to gauge buyer interest in the business, the report added. Last year, the company sold its outdoor wireless network and distributed antenna systems businesses to Amphenol (APH.N), opens new tab for $2.1 billion to partially alleviate its debt load. The company is also evaluating other alternatives, including a potential sale of the whole company, with the CCS division being its largest by sales and operating income, according to the Bloomberg report. The discussions are in the early stages, and there is no guarantee that they will result in a transaction, the report said.
