Stores selling fake gifts, luxury items, shoes, watches shut
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 20: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued 22 closure decisions for commercial establishments in Hawally that violated regulations, and referred them to the Commercial Prosecution. The director of the Commercial Control Department at the ministry Faisal Al-Ansari explained that these decisions were made based on recommendations from the inspection committee. Among the establishments closed were two advertising companies. One of the companies had been promoting health insurance policies for specified amounts tied to each health insurance card. However, consumers were surprised to find that when they visited medical clinics, the cards were either suspended or did not carry the agreed-upon amounts. Many consumers also complained about not receiving their cards on the specified date, despite having paid in advance. The decisions included the closure of 13 stores selling counterfeit goods, including gifts, luxury items, shoes, watches, bags, and accessories. In addition, seven domestic labor recruitment offices were shut down for violating ministerial regulations prohibiting cash transactions. These offices were found to have accepted cash payments instead of using electronic payment devices such as Knet.
