Connecticut officials underscore challenges for LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month
'We talk about behavior, we talk about what's happening with our young people, are there enough mental health supports for them in school?' said Melvette Hill, executive director Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity, and Opportunity. 'We want to put them on a behavioral health track, we want to throw them in a closet literally, but when they tell us who they are, what they want, when they tell us what they need, what is our response to them?'
Pride month runs for the entire month of June.
