'Nothing lasts forever:' Fox 19 meteorologist announces he is moving on

Cincinnati says goodbye to yet another FOX19 meteorologist after he announced his departure via social media Thursday. Ethan Emery, weekend meteorologist and multimedia journalist, will have his last day on the air May 11 after three years with the station. "Nothing ever lasts forever, and that includes my time with WXIX. I'm forever grateful for the time I've had both as an intern and as an employee for FOX19 through the years," Emory wrote in an Instagram post. Emery, a Southern State Community College and Ohio University graduate, joined FOX19 in 2022. He previously worked for several other television stations nationwide, including KOTA-TV and KEVN in Rapid City, South Dakota and WBKO in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Emery said that his goal of being a weatherman in Cincinnati is complete, but the journey he has made has opened the doors to several more goals, which include transitioning his focus to a career switch with the Communications Department in Montgomery County. "I have been full-time with Montgomery County Communications Department since March 31. That was when I became a part-time employee with FOX19," said Emery. "Now that I'm in a new role, I'm excited to serve the people of Montgomery County through my role in the Communications Department." He is now the third forecaster to leave FOX19 this year. Ashley Smith left in January after 17 years with the station to become a Public Information Officer at Hoxworth Blood Center, and Frank Marzullo departed a month later in February after 18 years to pursue other opportunities outside of the television world, according to Emery. Steve Horstmeyer, a veteran meteorologist who has been with FOX19 for 30 years, intends to retire from his accomplished career in late August after two extensions of his role, according to Emery. "The last two extensions of his retirement speak to the character that he has to help the station and team," said Emery." I have been fortunate and lucky to be able to have him as a leader over the last few years and am happy to call him a friend!" He will miss coworkers and viewers alike, as he thanked those who have supported him throughout the years of his career. "Thank you for reading, watching, listening and being a part of my story," Emery wrote. "I am forever grateful towards all of you (who) have been there, have helped me, and are here for me." Morocco Adds Gaming, Fake News Verification to Communications Ministry

Mrirt – The Moroccan government approved a new decree on Friday that significantly expanded the responsibilities of its Communications Department, adding gaming and fake news verification to its duties. During a meeting in Rabat, the Government Council adopted the proposal presented by Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication. The new decree (No. 2.24.1143) adds two major responsibilities to the Communication department. First, the newly approved decree is set to develop plans to grow Morocco's video game industry. Second, it will create mechanisms to verify and combat fake news in institutional and public communications. With this adoption, the government says its aim is to modernize the Communications Department's structure to keep pace with rapid developments in media, communications, and digital transformation. The reorganization will establish administrative structures that can effectively implement and monitor the department's projects. The restructuring creates three new directorates while maintaining the current Human Resources and Financial Directorate. The new additions include the Video Game Industry and Information Systems Development Directorate, the Media Studies and Modernization Directorate, and the Communication and Media Relations Directorate. The decree represents Morocco's response to emerging challenges in the digital communication ecosystem, particularly addressing concerns about misinformation while simultaneously investing in growing digital entertainment sectors. Industry experts note that Morocco's gaming industry has shown promising growth potential in recent years, with this formal recognition potentially accelerating the development of local talent and attracting international investment. In January, the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication launched a program that aims to help entrepreneurs in the gaming industry to structure their businesses effectively, ensure their sustainable growth, and enhance technical capabilities in this ever-growing competitive sector. IMF to unveil new loan package for Egypt

Head of the Communications Department (COM) at the International Monetary Fund, Julie Kozack (Photo courtesy of IMF) WASHINGTON — The IMF plans to unveil a new loan agreement with Egypt for approval by its board, the global lender's communications chief said Thursday, as the country looks to strengthen its economy. "A policy package of reforms will be considered by the Fund's executive board, along with the fourth review of Egypt's program," International Monetary Fund communications director Julie Kozack told reporters in Washington. Kozack said the new planned loan agreement would take the form of a Resilience and Sustainability Facility, or RSF, designed in part to help countries tackling climate change, adding that she could not yet confirm how large it will be. Last year, the IMF expanded its existing loan package from $3 billion to $8 billion to help Egypt manage its economic challenges amid regional instability unleashed by the war in Gaza. A draft agreement was reached on a review of Egypt's existing loan program back in December which should unlock an additional $1.2 billion to help the Egyptian economy as it battles a series of headwinds. The executive board's approval is largely a rubber-stamping exercise, with disagreements between stakeholders usually ironed out before the vote. Repeated attacks on Red Sea shipping by Yemen's Huthi rebels in support of Palestinians in Gaza caused Egypt's revenues from the Suez Canal - a key foreign currency earner — to plummet.
